Spectrum to Premiere Jessica Alba’s Series “L.A.’s Finest” in May

Spectrum will premiere of L.A.’s Finest, its anticipated first original series starring the 37-year-old half-Mexican American actress, on Monday, May 13, as revealed in a special video.

The original series marks the launch of Charter Communications’ premium content initiative Spectrum Originals

The premiere date was announced on social media by Alba and Gabrielle Union, the series’ stars and executive producers ahead of the show’s presentation at TCA

The first three installments in the 13-episode series will be exclusively available to Spectrum video subscribers free On Demand(and without ads) on May 13, after which new episodes will be released every Monday until the finale.

With elaborate action sequences, L.A.’s Finest was one of the highest-profile and most expensive pilots this season, with its budget said to be around $12 million. It is based upon the character Syd Burnett, originally created for Bad Boys II by Marianne and Cormac Wibberleyand Ron Sheltonand played by Union in the 2003 movie.

The series follows Syd Burnett (Union), last seen in Miami taking down a drug cartel, who has seemingly left her complicated past behind to become an LAPD detective. Paired with a new partner, Nancy McKenna (Alba), a working mom with an equally complex history, Syd is forced to confront how her unapologetic lifestyle may be masking a greater personal secret. Taking on the most dangerous criminals in Los Angeles while skirting the rules, and speed limits, Syd and Nancy become a force to be reckoned with – on the streets, and in each other’s lives.

The cast also includes Zack Gilford and Duane Martin as Ben Walker and Ben Baines, respectively, Ryan McPartlin as Patrick McKenna, Sophie Reynolds as Isabel “Izzy” McKenna, and Ernie Hudson as Joseph Vaughn.

Gallegos’ “American Sniper” Breaks All-Time Christmas Day Record at the Box Office

It’s a very Merry Christmas for Reynaldo Gallegos

The Latino actor’s latest film project, American Sniper, has launched impressively in its Christmas Day debut.

Warner Bros.’ “Sniper,” starring Bradley Cooper and Sienna Miller, has a stellar performance with $240,212 at four venues — breaking the all-time record for a limited release under 10 screens on Christmas Day.

It played in Dallas, Los Angeles and New York.

Clint Eastwood directed the R-rated American Sniper from a script by Jason Hall, based on Chris Kyle’s autobiography about his tour of duty in Iraq and his struggles as a father and husband.

Warner Bros. will expand American Sniper into a nationwide release on January 16 — the day after Oscar nominations are announced.

Gallegos stars as Tony in the film.

His previous credits include Gang Related, Sons of Anarchy, 24, Prison Break, NYPD Blue, Castle, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and NCIS: Los Angeles.

 

His feature film credits include Bad Boys II, Rambo 4 and  Spider-Man 3.

Levy to Star as Jordi Molla’s Son in the Crime Thriller “Term Life”

It’s William Levy’s term to impress American audiences once again…

The 33-year-old Cuban actor, telenovela star and former Dancing with the Stars competitor has joined the cast of the Vince Vaughn– and Hailee Steinfeld-starring crime thriller Term Life.

The film follows Nick Barrow (portrayed by Vaughn), who takes his estranged daughter (Steinfeld) on the lam when a heist goes south and he’s forced to take out a life insurance policy on himself that doesn’t take effect for 21 days.

In addition to Levy, the film will also star Bad Boys II alum Jordi Molla has been cast in the Peter Billingsley-helmed film as a ruthless Mexican cartel leader Victor Fuentes, who’s after Barrow.

Levy, meantime, will bring to life the role of Molla’s character’s son Alejandro.

He most recently filmed the feature The Veil. He’s shooting Change Of Heart with Jim Belushi and Virginia Madsen and will be seen in Lionsgate’s Addicted.

Mollà Joins the Cast of FX’s Paul Giamatti Comedy Pilot “Hoke”

The 45-year-old Spanish actor, filmmaker, writer and artist has joined the cast of FX’s Paul Giamatti comedy pilot Hoke.

Hoke is the story of mid-life crisis and murder that features the hard-boiled and possibly insane homicide detective, Hoke Moseley (Giamatti), in pre-chic Miami circa 1985.

Mollà, who appeared in Bad Boys II, will portray Armando Zuniga, a sociopathic Cuban who arrives on the shores of Miami in the rumpled, faded clothing of a peasant Cuban refugee and integrates into the city posing as a famous poet of the Cuban people.

But Mollà isn’t the only Spaniard joining the cast…

Game of Thrones star Oona Chaplin will plays Ellita Sanchez, a sharp young homicide detective recently promoted from dispatcher to Hoke’s new partner.

Other cast members include Body of Proof’s John Carroll Lynch Nashville’s Robert Wisdom and Guiding Light’s Tammy Blanchard.

Hoke is a darkly comedic take on Charles Willeford‘s series of novels Sideswipe, New Hope for the Dead and The Way We Die Now.

The project hails from writer/producer and Academy Award nominee Scott Frank (Out of Sight, Get Shorty).

Production is set to begin in Miami later this year.
