Luis Enrique Signs Exclusive Publishing Administration Deal with Peermusic

Luis Enrique has a new publishing deal…

The 59-year-old Nicaraguan singer-songwriter, known as El Príncipe de la Salsa, has signed an exclusive publishing administration deal with peermusic.

Julio Bagué, peermusic’s vice president of Latin division, East Coast and Puerto Rico added: “Luis is a trailblazer whose music helped pave the way for the next generation of Latin Music artists. I’ve always been a fan of his work, and after having the opportunity of working together with him in the studio, I’m thrilled to help bring an industry legend who has made such a profound impact on this genre to the company. We’re excited to have him join the peermusic family and looking forward to supporting his upcoming album.”

On the Billboard charts, the salsa singer-songwriter has 28 entries on the Hot Latin Songs chart, including nine Top 10s.

On the Tropical Airplay chart, he has five No. 1 hits, including his 2009 banger “Yo No Se Mañana,” which spent 11 weeks at the top. His Grammy-award-winning album Ciclos, peaked at No. 1 on the Tropical Albums chart and No. 2 on the Top Latin Albums chart in 2009.

Enrique’s prolific career spans over four decades, and is known as one of the pioneers of the salsa romantica movement in the late ‘80s, and early ‘90s.

Mala Rodriguez to Perform During the Virtual Edition of the Latin Alternative Music Conference

Mala Rodriguez is offering a special alternative for people stuck at home during this coronavirus pandemic.

The 41-year-old Spanish Latin Grammy-winning rapper will take this in this year’s Latin Alternative Music Conference, which will be held live online.

This year, the annual Latin Alternative Music Conference will officially kick off on Tuesday, June 9 withg a variety of virtual industry panels, workshops and showcases that will live.

Amid the global COVID-19 pandemic and as the nation begins to reopen gradually, the LAMC‘s five-day virtual conference includes timely panels like “The Future of Touring” with panelists Jordi Puig (OCESA), Phil Rodriguez (Move Concerts) and Sebastian De la Barra (Lotus Producciones).

And, “Mental Health and the Creative Community” presented by MusiCares and the Latin Grammys featuring Carla Morrison, Kany García, Ana Tijoux and Guaynaa.

LAMC’s Talks with Billboard Latin will feature Leila Cobo‘s fireside chats with Walter Kolm and ChocQuibTown‘s Gloria “Goyo” Martínez.’

Rodriguez will perform on June 9 as part of peermusic‘s showcase. Other participating artists include Thee Sinseers, Gaby Moreno and Lido Pimienta.

Francisca Valenzuela, Tatiana Hazel, Los Caligaris, among others will perform during the LAMC. 

On closing night, LAMC will celebrate Pride Month with performances by Kany García, Mabiland, Circo and Javiera Mena.

“Providing a forum to discuss the issues we face and the potential solutions that lie ahead is key as we look towards the future,” LAMC founder Tomas Cookman said in a previous statement. “Although the days ahead may be slightly different for a time, we should always keep in mind there is very much a future as music is a human and global emotion. We are lending our hand by making the conference free for all and having a team of professionals join us in making sure the LAMC experience is as informative and technologically seamless as can be.”

Chiquis Rivera Teams Up with peermusic for Her First-Ever Publishing Deal

It’s a special first for Chiquis Rivera…

The 34-year-old Mexican American singer and television personality, thedaughter of the late Regional Mexican singer Jenni Rivera, has landed her first publishing deal with peermusic, according to Billboard.

This week, Kathy Spanberger, president & chief operating officer, peermusic; Yvonne Drazan, vp, Latin Division, West Coast, peermusic, and Julio Bague, vp, Latin Division, East Coast & Puerto Rico announced that they have signed Chiquis to an exclusive global publishing agreement. 

The news comes almost three months after she and her management team, The Sixth House,signed a new dealwith Fonovisa, the Regional Mexican division of Universal Music Group back in April. 

“I couldn’t be more excited to welcome Chiquis into the peermusic family. She’s already established herself as one of Latin music’s most powerful and promising new voices, and I can’t wait until the songs she’s writing and recording are ready to be shared with the world,” said Drazan. 

“I am so excited and honored to officially be a part of the peermusic family,” said Chiquis. “Writing has gotten me through some very tough times in my life, it’s a form of therapy for me now. I love the process and thoroughly enjoy creating with amazing and talented people during the song camps at peermusic. Can’t wait to see and hear what the future holds!”

Ready to make her return with new music in 2019, Chiquis announced her single “Animate y Veras” will be released on June 28. 

A new album is also in the works, where peermusic already organized and held two songwriting camps for it, including one in Los Angeles and another in Miami. Each camp was two days long and featured six writers to collaborate with Chiquis, including both peermusic writers and non-peermusic writers. The camps have already produced one of the upcoming album’s singles.

The untitled album follows her debut studio albumAhora(2015) and her 2018 album Entre Botellas, which reached No. 1on the Regional Mexican Albums chart, making her the first woman to debut at the top of that chart since her late mother, Jenni Rivera, did in 2016.

Mala Rodriguez, aka La Mala, Agrees to Global Co-Publishing Deal with Peermusic

Mala Rodriguez has new peers…

Peermusic has signed the 39-year-old Spanish hip hop rapper, known as La Mala, to an exclusive global co-publishing agreement, according to Billboard.

Kathy Spanberger, president and COO, peermusic Anglo American Region, and Yvonne Drazan, vp, Latin Division, West Coast, peermusic, announced the news, revealing that the Spanish singer/songwriter is now part of their family.

“Mala is the impressive combination of a vanguard artist who has inspired a worldwide audience and achieved Platinum success,” said Spanberger in a press release. “She’s breaking records doing things her own way and people are paying attention. It’s exciting to be a part of her journey.”

Drazan agreed, adding: “Mala is a welcome voice and a catalyst for change in the Latin Pop & Urban markets.”

Mala kicked off her music career in the late 1990s, becoming one of the hottest female rappers in Spain’s hip-hop scene. She was the first female artist to win the Latin Grammy for Best Urban Song (“No Pidas Perdon,” 2010) and Best Urban Album (Bruja, 2013). In 2018, she made a highly-awaited comeback, dropping new music including collaborations with Juan Magan, Beatriz Luengo, and Stylo G.

Now, she’s thrilled about her new venture with peermusic.

“I am very excited to receive such a warm welcome from my new publishing home, peermusic. I am honored and proud to be a part of the family,” she said in an official statement. “I am profoundly grateful to three beautiful and powerful women, Kathy, Yvonne and Mary Megan for having confidence in me and I send them each love and respect. Gaby Moreno Signs Global Publishing Deal with peermusic

Gaby Moreno is going global…

The 35-year-old Guatemalan singer-songwriter has signed an exclusive global publishing deal with peermusic.

Yvonne Drazan, the West Coast Vice President of peermusic’s Latin Division, and Julio Bagué, Vice President of the Latin Division for the East Coast and Puerto Rico, announced the signing.

Moreno, a bilingual singer who lives in Los Angeles, has advantageously bridged the English- and Spanish-language markets, performing in pop, bolero and vintage jazz and blues styles with equal appeal.

Moreno first gained attention in 2006 when she won the John Lennon Songwriting Contest’s Song of the Year award, a first for a song in the Latin category.

Moreno was an Emmy nominee in 2010 as co-writer of the theme song for the series Parks and Recreation, and was named the Latin Grammy Best New Artist in 2013. Her latest solo album, Ilusiones, was released in 2016.

“One of the things that I’ve tried to do throughout my career is to let my music be guided by what inspires me and not be afraid to push creative boundaries,” Moreno said in an announcement from peermusic. “I want to work with people who value and share that vision, so bringing my catalog to peermusic and partnering with Yvonne, Julio and the rest of their team was a natural decision.”

The signing marks “the culmination of a year-long pursuit and negotiation,” according to Drazan.

“From the first moment I heard Gaby’s voice, I knew that I had to work with her,” she said. “Her ability to seamlessly blend Latin music with American folk is unmatched, and as a songwriter she has a point of view that is at once familiar yet unique.”
