Carlos Vives Earns Ninth No. 1 on Billboard’s Tropical Airplay Chart with Camilo Collaboration “Baloncito Viejo”

The 60-year-old Colombian singer, songwriter and actor’s collaboration with Camilo, “Baloncito Viejo” has reached No. 1 on Billboard’Tropical Airplay chart as the song rises 2-1 on the June 11-dated ranking.

The move puts Vives back atop the tally. He last scored a champ in August 2019 when “Si Me Das Tu Amor,” with Wisin, climbed 3-1 in its 20th week.

He registers his ninth No. 1 on the chart, meanwhile, Camilo secures his second.

“Baloncito Viejo” jumps from No. 2 after a 42 percent surge in audience impressions, to 9.1 million, earned in the U.S. in the week ending June 5, according to Luminate.

The duo sends another pair to the runner-up slot: Prince Royce and Maria Becerra’s “Te Espero” dips 1-2 with 8.5 million impressions after its two-week reign.

“Baloncito Viejo,” released March 2 via Sony Music Latin/WK, leads in 13th week. It’s the fourth track in 2022 to have landed at the summit in at least 10 weeks or more.

Over on Latin Airplay, “Baloncito Viejo” barely misses the top, climbing 10-2 in its 10th week.

It’s the closest Vives has been to No. 1 since also “Si Me Das Tu Amor” gifted him his 15th win in 2019. It’s a different setting for Camilo as he last captured a No. 1 less than a year ago when “Millones” ruled the overall Latin survey for one week in July 2021.

“Baloncito Viejo” concurrently makes progress on Latin Pop Airplay. It rises 2-1 as the Greatest Gainer of the week.
