Carey to Release New Single on Valentine’s Day

It’ll be an extra-special Valentine’s Day for Mariah Carey fans…

The 43-year-old half-Venezuelan American Grammy-winning singer’s new single will arrive on February 14.

Mariah Carey

Carey made the announcement on New Year’s Eve, during her performance on New Year’s Eve with Carson Daly. The title of the track is currently unknown.

Carey has also revealed that her long-delayed album, The Art of Letting Go, will be released in the very near future.

“The album is coming this spring,” she told the audience at the event. “New single, Valentine’s Day.”

Originally slated to be released last July, the album was postponed because Carey still wanted to add some good songs.

“I’d rather not exclude meaningful songs. I want to give you this album as it’s meant to be heard,” she said in June.

The Art of Letting Go will include “Triumphant (Get ‘Em),” which was released back in 2012, lead single “#Beautiful” which features a guest appearance from Miguel, and title track “The Art of Letting Go” which premiered on Carey’s Facebook page in November.

Carey Performs Hurricane Sandy Benefit Concert in NYC’s Central Park

Mariah Carey sings for a good cause…

The 43-year-old half-Venezuelan singer performed for a large crowd in New York City’s Central Park this past weekend to raise money for the victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Mariah Carey

Despite doctor’s orders to rest after dislocating her shoulder several days earlier while shooting a music video, Carey entertained a crowd of more than 50,000 on Central Park’s Great Lawn.

Carey took the stage in a form-fitting white dress with her injured arm in a sling – draped in a matching white fur Gucci stole – to sing one of her greatest hits, “My All.”

The “#Beautiful” singer  – who was accompanied by the New York Philharmonic Orchestra at the benefit concert, which was organized by Major League Baseball, or MLB

said it was an honor to be there with the New York Philharmonic before this “incredible” audience in order to help the people who were affected by the natural disaster.

“I love you madly, I love you madly,” she told the crowd, and said she was going to sing before it started to rain.

On the night of October 29, Hurricane Sandy and its winds that registered over 120 kph (75 mph) left a trail of death and destruction through New York with fatalities and thousands of homes destroyed or badly damaged, especially on Staten Island and the Rockaways.

Miguel Earns Best Male R&B/Pop Artist at the BET Awards…

This year’s turning out to be a (kaleidoscope) dream for Miguel

Following his career-advancing performance at theGrammys and his #Beautiful” collaboration with Mariah Carey, the 27-year-old half-Mexican American singer-songwriter was named Best Male R&B/Pop Artist at the BET Awards on Sunday night.

Miguel

Miguel, who released his critically acclaimed sophomore album Kaleidoscope Dream in 2012, beat out Chris Brown, Bruno Mars, Justin Timberlake and Usher to claim a victory in the category for the first time in his career.

It was the only awad of the night for Miguel, who was nominated in four categories this year, during the show held at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles.

Other winners included best female R&B/pop artist Rihanna, best male hip hop artist Kendrick Lamar, best female hip-hop artist Nicki Minaj, best actress Kerry Washington, best actor Jamie Foxx and best movie Think Like a Man.

It’s Miguel’s second BET Award, following his win in the Best Collaboration category last year for his “Lotus Flower Bomb” single with Wale.

Carey & Miguel Release Spanglish Version of “#Beautiful”

Mariah Carey and Miguel are embracing their Spanish roots through music…

The 43-year-old half-Venezuelan singer and the 27-year-old half Mexican American R&B singer have released a Spanglish version of their hit collaboration “#Beautiful.”

Mariah Carey & Miguel

In the song entitled “#Hermosa,” the former American Idol judge and Miguel both sing the song’s lyrics in English and Spanish.

The Spanglish version of “#Beautiful” marks the second of five planned remixes to “#Beautiful”. Earlier this week, Mariah and Miguel worked together with A$AP Rocky to release a remix version of the track. The next projects will include hip-hop remix and dance mix.

It’s not Carey’s first time singing en Español. She previously recorded versions of her hits, “Hero” and “My All“, for her Spanish-speaking fans.

“#Beautiful” will be featured on Carey’s upcoming album, The Art of Letting Go, which was Initially due out on July 23. But the singer’s fourteenth studio album is now delayed indefinitely.

“While making this album, I got so immersed in the creative process that I just don’t feel it would be doing it justice to release it on 7/23,” she tweeted earlier this week.

“I’d rather not exclude meaningful songs,” she added. “I want to give you this album as it’s meant to be heard. When I’m ready, you’ll be the first 2 [to] know.”

Carey Delays Release of New Album Indefinitely

Mariah Carey is putting the brakes on the release of her latest album.

The 43-year-old half-Venezuelan singer and former American Idol judge informed fans via Twitter that she’s delaying the release of her 14th studio album indefinitely.

Mariah Carey

“While making this album, I got so immersed in the creative process that I just don’t feel it would be doing it justice to release it on 7/23,” Carey wrote. Originally slated for a July 23 debut, The Art of Letting Go doesn’t have a new release date yet.

“I’d rather not exclude meaningful songs,” she added. “I want to give you this album as it’s meant to be heard. When I’m ready, you’ll be the first 2 know.”

The news comes as a blessing to fellow Latina songstress Selena Gomez, whose forthcoming Stars Dance was supposed to come out on same day as Carey’s album. With the pop diva out of the way, Gomez now has a stronger chance of scoring a No. 1 chart debut, though she’ll still have to contend with Chris Brown’s X in its second week of sales.

Carey, meanwhile, still has a #Beautiful hit on her hands… The lead single from her now-undated album. “#Beautiful” feat. Miguel has thus far peaked at No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and No. 3 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

Carey to Release Her Fourteenth Album This Summer

Prepare for new Mariah Carey music in July…

The 43-year-old half-Venezuelan American singer and former American Idol judge will be releasing her fourteenth studio album on July 23, with Island Def Jam confirming the date.

Mariah Carey

“The New Era Begins.. 7/23 #MC723,” posted Carey to her 11 million Twitter followers.

The album has been previewed by Carey’s duet with Miguel, “#Beautiful,” which reaches No. 17 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart this week.

Carey’s new album follows 2009’s Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, which featured the single “Obsessed” and has sold 546,000 copies to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Carey also released a new holiday album, Merry Christmas II You, in 2010.

Last week, Carey officially announced that she wouldn’t be returning to the American Idol judges panel, after starring on the show alongside Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban and Randy Jackson this season.

Instead, Carey’s focus will be her solo career: the singer has performed “#Beautiful” on Good Morning America and at the Hot 97 Summer Jam.

“#Beautiful” marks Carey’s 27th Top 10 hit on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart — the fourth most Top 10s all-time on the tally for a female.

Carey will perform on NBC‘s Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular on July 4, and will embark on a world tour beginning in October, although dates have yet to be announced

Carey Leaving the American Idol Judges’ Table After One Season

It’s official… Mariah Carey is bidding adieu to American Idol.

43-year-old half-Venezuelan American singer confirmed via Twitter today that she’s leaving the Fox reality singing competition after one season.

Mariah Carey

“W/ global success of #Beautiful (#1 in 30+ countries so far) @MariahCarey confirms world tour & says goodbye 2 Idol,” said a tweet Carey retweeted from her publicist PMK BNC.

Carey’s exit as an Idol judge doesn’t come as a big shock though. Her husband Nick Cannon essentially said she’d be leaving the show back in May because of the on- and off-screen drama with fellow judge Nicki Minaj.

In addition, change has seemed to be on the horizon for the once dominant Idol after seeing double-digit ratings declines and an all-time finale low this year.

“Mariah Carey is a true global icon — one of the most accomplished artists on the planet — and we feel extremely fortunate that she was able to bring her wisdom and experience to the American Idol contestants this season. We know she will remain an inspiration to Idol hopefuls for many seasons to come,” said Fox Broadcasting Co. and FremantleMedia in a statement.

Carey follows in original judge Randy Jackson’s footsteps. He announced earlier this year that he wouldn’t be back for season 13.

Miguel to Release His “Art Dealer Chic” EP Series Beginning in July

Miguel is preparing to deal this summer…

The 27-year-old half-Mexican R&B singer-songwriter, who has seen his star rise in the music industry following the release of his critically acclaimed sophomore album, will release the second volume of his Art Dealer Chic three-EP series this summer.

Miguel

“It’ll be under Art Dealer Chic. It’ll be the next three installments… It’ll be [on] July, August and September,” Miguel told Billboard.com.

Miguel plans to release the first of the three EPs in July, the second in August and the third in September.

The three-EP series will be free and available for download online, much like the first Art Dealer Chic volume was.

Meanwhile, Miguel’s collaboration with Mariah Carey, “#Beautiful,” is gaining momentum on the Billboard charts.

With 54 million albums sold, Carey is also the best-selling female album artist since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking U.S. sales in 1991. She trails only overall leader Garth Brooks (68.6 million) and runners-up the Beatles (64.4 million).

Miguel, meanwhile, easily makes his best Hot 100 start with “#Beautiful.” Of his prior seven charted titles, he’d debuted as high as No. 82 with his eventual No. 17-peaking “Adorn,” still his highest-charted hit.
