Kid Cudi to Co-Headline This Year’s Smoker’s Club Fest

Kid Cudi is bringing the fire back to Southern California this spring…

The 37-year-old half-Mexican American rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, and actor will co-headline Smoker’s Club Fest 2022 in Southern California at the end of April.

Kid CudiKid Cudi will headline the festival alongside A$AP Rocky and Playboi Carti.

The music festival and joint celebration of hip-hop and cannabis culture will take place at the 65,000-capacity Glen Helen Amphitheater in San Bernardino, California, on Saturday, April 30.

More performers on the festival lineup include: Ferg, Schoolboy Q, Wiz Khalifa, 2 Chainz, Joey Bada$$, Dom Kennedy, Larry June, Lupe Fiasco, Curren$y, Danny Brown, Rico Nasty, Earl Sweatshirt, Wale, Reason, and Casey Veggies, among many others.

The lineup looks very similar to its 2018 edition, which Cudi also headlined alongside Khalifa and Schoolboy Q in Long Beach.

Rocky and Cudi headlined two different Rolling Loud festivals last year, with Rocky leading Rolling Loud Miami in July 2021 and Cudi kicking off day one of Rolling Loud L.A. in December, where he teased another album.

Rocky, who performed his debut 2011 mixtape Live. Love. ASAP at ComplexCon 2021 last November, has been consistently topping festival bills and teased in his GQ cover story that he was coming out with a new album tentatively titled All Smiles soon. Carti recently wrapped up his Narcissist Tour last month.

Carey to Visit Australia for a Rare Coast-to-Coast Tour

Mariah Carey is heading to the land Down Under…

The 45-year-old half-Venezuelan American singer is planning to visit Australia for a rare coast-to-coast tour.

Carey’s Elusive Chanteuse Show this November is scheduled to make seven stops Down Under, where she’ll play arenas and exclusive winery dates.

Mariah’s Australian trek starts on November 2 at Sandalford Estate in Perth, then moves on to Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Rochford Wines in the Yarra Valley and wraps-up Nov. 16 at Sirromet Wines on Mt Cotton, south east of Brisbane.

It’ll be Mariah’s first national Australian run since her Butterfly world tour stopped in the country in 1998, though she did play three shows on the east coast in January 2013.

General admission is priced at Australian $109.90 ($98.60) plus booking fee, and tickets at the top-end (platinum) cost Australian $259.90 ($233) plus booking fee. Tickets for all shows go on sale Sept. 26, and pre-sales open September 24 at the official websites for Live Nation and A Day On The Green.

Mariah’s latest album Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse, her 14th studio album, debuted at No. 5 on the ARIA Albums Chart in May. It was her 13th top ten appearance on the Australian chart, and her first since Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel back in October 2009.

In the U.S., The Elusive Chanteuse opened at No. 3 with 58,000 sales. The album, which features production from Rodney Jerkins, Jermaine Dupri, Hit-Boy and Mike Will Made It and guest appearances from Nas, Wale and Miguel, was tentatively earmarked for a release in March 2013. The set was then pushed to July 23, then to May 6, 2014 and finally May 27.

Miguel Earns Best Male R&B/Pop Artist at the BET Awards…

This year’s turning out to be a (kaleidoscope) dream for Miguel

Following his career-advancing performance at theGrammys and his #Beautiful” collaboration with Mariah Carey, the 27-year-old half-Mexican American singer-songwriter was named Best Male R&B/Pop Artist at the BET Awards on Sunday night.

Miguel, who released his critically acclaimed sophomore album Kaleidoscope Dream in 2012, beat out Chris Brown, Bruno Mars, Justin Timberlake and Usher to claim a victory in the category for the first time in his career.

It was the only awad of the night for Miguel, who was nominated in four categories this year, during the show held at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles.

Other winners included best female R&B/pop artist Rihanna, best male hip hop artist Kendrick Lamar, best female hip-hop artist Nicki Minaj, best actress Kerry Washington, best actor Jamie Foxx and best movie Think Like a Man.

It’s Miguel’s second BET Award, following his win in the Best Collaboration category last year for his “Lotus Flower Bomb” single with Wale.

Miguel to Perform at This Year’s Hot 97 “Summer Jam”

The 27-year-old half-Mexican American singer-songwriter, who will perform at this year’s Billboard Music Awards, has been added to the lineup of New York City’s Hot 97 Summer Jam event.

Miguel, who will release his Art Dealer Chic EPs this summer, will be joined by fellow performers Chris Brown, Wu-Tang Clan, Kendrick Lamar, 2 Chainz, Fabolous, A$AP Rocky, Wale  and more at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium.

Summer Jam XX will take place on June 2.

The Hot 97 Festival Village, which takes place before the main event, from 2:00 – 6:00 pm EST, will include performances by Joey Bada$$, A$AP Ferg, Vinny Cha$e, Bodega Bamz and Radamiz.

Miguel Receives Two BET Hip-Hop Award Nods

Miguel’s music career continues to bloom with critical acclaim and recognition…

The 25-year-old half-Mexican singer/songwriter received two nominations on Wednesday for the seventh annual BET Hip-Hop Awards for his collaboration with rapper Wale.

The pair’s single “Lotus Flower Bomb,” which peaked at number one on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop chart, has been nominated for Best Hip Hop Video and the Reese’s Perfect Combo Award (Best Collabo).

“Wale and Miguel hit Marvin Gaye-like levels of smoothness and seduction with the boudoir visuals for their hit collabo from Wale’s Ambition,” reads the BET Hip-Hop Awards nomination page.

Earlier this year, Miguel and Wale picked up the award for Best Collaboration at the BET Awards for their work on “Lotus Flower Bomb.” It was Miguel’s first BET Award.

Kanye West leads the overall pack of BET Hip-Hop Awards nominees with a whopping 17 nods, including Best Live Performer and MVP of the Year.

The ceremony will be taped on September 29 at Atlanta’s Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center with actor and comedian Mike Epps serving as host for the fourth straight year.

The BET Hip-Hop Awards will be televised on Tuesday, October 9 at 8:00 pm ET on BET.

Miguel Receives Three 2012 BET Awards Nominations

The nominations for the 2012 BET Awards have been unveiled… And, rising star Miguel leads the Latino pack of nominees with three nods.

The 25-year-old half-Mexican R&B singer/songwriter has received a nomination in the Best Male R&B Artist category. He’ll face off against fellow Latino singer Bruno Mars, as well as Chris Brown, Trey Songz and Usher.

In addition, Miguel has been nominated in the Best Collaboration category with Wale for their song Lotus Flower Bomb.” Other nominees include Beyonce f/ J. Cole – “Party,” Big Sean f/ Kanye West & Roscoe Dash – “Marvin & Chardonnay,” DJ Khaled f/ Drake, Rick Ross & Lil Wayne – “I’m On One,” Drake f/ Lil Wayne & Tyga – “The Motto,” The Throne (Jay-Z & Kanye West) f/ Otis Redding – “Otis.”

Miguel’s final nod comes in the Coca-Cola Viewer’s Choice Award category for his same collaboration with Wale on “Lotus Flower Bomb.” The pair will face off against Beyonce – “Love On Top,” Chris Brown – “Turn Up the Music,” Drake f/ Lil Wayne & Tyga – “The Motto,” Mindless Behavior – and “Hello,” The Throne (Jay-Z & Kanye West) f/ Otis Redding – “Otis.”

But Miguel and Bruno Mars aren’t the only Latino artists getting nominations… Zoe Saldana received a nod in the Best Actress category, while New York Giants’ star Victor Cruz was nominated in the Subway Sportsman of the Year category.

The 2012 BET Awards, which will be hosted by Samuel L. Jackson, will be held on July 1 at Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium. Last year’s awards show drew 7.7 million viewers on BET.
