Nick Gomez to Star on Season 5 of FX’s “Fargo”

Nick Gomez is headed to Fargo

The Latino actor has joined the cast of FX’s Fargo for the series’ fifth season.

Nick GomezGomez is among a list of new cast additions that includes David Rysdahl, Sam Spruell and Jessica Pohly.

They join the previously announced Juno Temple, Jon Hamm, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Joe Keery, Lamorne Morris and Richa Moorjani.

The latest installment is set in 2019, and asks the question: when is a kidnapping not a kidnapping, and what if your wife isn’t yours?

Gomez will play Agent Joaquin.

Noah Hawley (creator/writer/director), and his production company 26 Keys, lead the creative team behind the latest installment. Warren Littlefield via his production company The Littlefield Company, also serves as Executive Producer along with Joel & Ethan Coen and others.

Fargo is produced by MGM Television and FX Productions, with MGM Television serving as the lead studio and MGM distributing the series internationally.

Gomez most recently starred in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. His other credits include Criminal Minds, SEAL Team, General Hospital and Bosch.

HBO Releases Teaser Video of Cannavale’s Upcoming 1970s Rock ‘n’ Roll Drama “Vinyl”

Bobby Cannavale is ready to “drop the needle, and crank the volume.”

HBO has released the first footage of its upcoming drama Vinyl, starring the 44-year-old half-Cuban American actor.

The minute-long teaser released Thursday, a far cry from the extended trailer shown to critics at a recent Television Critics Association session, offers a detailed look at what to expect from the 1970s rock ‘n’ roll drama.

Cannavale, who won an Emmy for his performance on Boardwalk Empire, stars as Richie, the founder and president of American Century Records, who has a great ear for discovering talent and who undergoes a crisis of character when confronted with a life-altering decision.

Olivia Wilde stars as Richie’s wife, with Parenthood‘s Ray Romano set as one of Richie’s partners.

ARC Entertainment Acquires North American Rights to Alejandro’s “Safelight”

Kevin Alejandro’s latest project has found safe passage to U.S. theaters…

ARC Entertainment has acquired the North American distribution rights to Safelight, starring the 39-year-0ld Mexican American actor and True Blood alum.

From writer/director Tony Aloupis, the film also stars Evan Peters and Juno Temple.

Safelight tells the story of three desperate individuals whose paths perilously cross in a dusty desert town. Charles (Peters) is a high school senior with physical challenges; Vicki (Temple) is a troubled runaway turning tricks at a truck stop; and Skid (Alejandro) is her dangerously psychotic pimp, who has a huge chip on his shoulder. Their lives take a menacing turn when the Charles and Vicki embark on a road trip without Skid up the California coast to photograph lighthouses. The three characters eventually face each other in a violent showdown that will change their lives forever.”

The film will be released in theaters and on VOD on July 17.

HBO Gives Formal Series Pickup to Cannavale’s Untitled Rock ‘n’ Roll Project

HBO has given a formal series pickup to the untitled rock ‘n’ roll project from Martin Scorsese, Mick Jagger and Terence Winter starring the 44-year-old half-Cuban American actor.

The long-gestating drama, created by Winter, had been in the works at HBO since 2010. But the project gained momentum last year when Boardwalk Empire standout Cannavale was cast as the lead.

The untitled hourlong drama is set in 1970s New York and explores the drug- and sex-fueled music business as punk and disco were breaking out, all through the eyes of a record executive (Cannavale) trying to resurrect his label and find the next new sound.

Olivia Wilde, Ray Romano and Juno Temple co-star, and the cast includes Andrew Dice Clay, Ato Essandoh, Max Casella, James Jagger, Jack Quaid, Birgitte Sorenson, P.J. Byrne, J.C. MacKenzie, Bo Dietl, Robert Funaro and Joe Caniano.

Scorsese, who directed the pilot, had worked with Jagger, directing the 2008 Rolling Stones documentary Shine A Light, which led to their collaboration on the rock ‘n’ roll drama.

Kid Cudi to Appear in the Psychological Thriller “Meadowland”

The 30-year-old part-Mexican American hip-hop artist-turned-actor, whose real name is Scott Mescudi, has been cast in the psychological drama Meadowland.

Directed by award-winning cinematographer Reed Morano in her directing debut, the film centers on Sarah (Olivia Wilde) and David (Luke Wilson), a New York couple dealing with the unthinkable after their son disappears.

No word yet on who Kid Cudi will portray in the psychological thriller.

In addition to Kid Cudi, Wilson and Wilde, the film also stars Giovanni Ribisi, Mark Feuerstein, Kevin Corrigan and Juno Temple.

Meadowland is currently in production.

Kid Cudi, who is starring in the film version of HBO’s series Entourage, previously starred in the premium cable network’s series How to Make It in America. He also appeared opposite Aaron Paul in the DreamWorks video game film adaptation Need For Speed.

Additionally, Kid Cudi wrapped the films James White and Two Night Stand.

Alba’s voice is the first you hear in the clip, which sees the town’s most hard-boiled citizens cross paths with some of its more reviled inhabitants.

“This Rotten Town, it soils everybody. Everybody,” says Alba, who returns as exotic dancer and revenge seeker Nancy Callahan for the prequel to 2005’s Sin City.

In addition to Alba, the film also stars Rosario Dawson, Callie Hernandez, Mickey Rourke, Eva Green, Juno Temple, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Lady Gaga.

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For is set to open in theaters on August 22.

In the trailer, Alba appears back on the bar, shaking her groove thing the same way she did in 2005. But there are also snippets of her smashing her face against a back-stage mirror and more, leaving audiences intrigued.

The ultra-violent action crime thriller and sequel to the 2005 cult classic – adapted from Miller’s neo-noir graphic novels – weaves two Sin City stories together into one hard-boiled narrative pitting the city’s thugs, lowlifes and femme fatales against each other, with a cast that includes Alba, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Josh Brolin, Eva Green, Mickey Rourke, Bruce Willis, Rosario Dawson, Juno Temple, Jaime King, Jamie Chung, Dennis Haysbert and more.

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For will hit theaters on August 22.

Cannavale’s Got the XXX-Factor…

Bobby Cannavale is about to steam up the silver screen.

The 41-year-old half-Cuban actor has signed on to appear opposite Amanda Seyfried in Lovelace, a biopic of adult film star Linda Lovelace.

Cannavale will play film financier Butchie Peraino, while Seyfried will play the lead role in film, which will begin shooting on location in Los Angeles this week.

Along with Cannavale and Seyfried, the film will star Hank Azaria, Chris NothRobert Patrick, Wes Bentley, Sharon Stone and Juno Temple.

The movie is being filmed with the cooperation of the Lovelace estate.
