Daniel Zovatto to Star Opposite Anna Kendrick in True Crime Thriller “The Dating Game”

The 31-year-old Costa Rican American film and television actor will co-star opposite Anna Kendrick in the true crime thriller The Dating Game, which Kendrick will also directing.

Daniel ZovattoStuart Ford’s AGC Studios is behind the film with Kendrick also producing.

Production is currently under way in Vancouver.

The script is from a Black List script by Ian MacAllister McDonald and is based on the stranger-than-fiction true story of Cheryl Bradshaw, who was a bachelorette on the hit 70s TV matchmaking show The Dating Game and chose handsome and funny bachelor number one, Rodney Alcala. But behind Alcala’s charming façade was a deadly secret: he was a psychopathic serial killer.

Best known for his breakout role in It Follows, Zovatto is coming off a starring role in the Emmy-nominated HBO limited series Station 11 opposite Himesh Patel and Mackenzie Davis.

He recently wrapped production on The Pope’s Exorcist opposite Russell Crowe.

HBO Max has released the trailer for its new series Station Eleven, starring the 30-year-old Costa Rican American actor.

A pandemic has ravaged the world in Patrick Somerville’s new series, an adaptation of the 2014 book of the same name by Emily St. John Mandel.

Station Eleven is a post-apocalyptic saga spanning multiple timelines, this limited drama series tells the stories of survivors of a devastating flu as they attempt to rebuild and reimagine the world anew while holding on to the best of what’s been lost.

In addition to Zovatto, the series stars Mackenzie Davis, Himesh Patel, David Wilmot, Matilda Lawler, Philippine Velge, Nabhaan Rizwan and Lori Petty, with Gael Garcìa Bernal and Danielle Deadwyler recurring.

The 10-episode limited series will premieres on HBO Max on December 16.

Zovatto’s previous credits include Revenge, Fear the Walking Dead and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Hulu has released the first trailer for Happiest Season, a holiday-themed romantic comedy starring the 36-year-old actress/comedian and former Parks and Recreation star.

“This is why I avoid Christmas — it brings out the worst in everything,” says the trailer for the film, which also stars Kristen Stewart and Mackenzie Davis.

Here’s the logline: Meeting your girlfriend’s family for the first time can be tough. Planning to propose at her family’s annual Christmas dinner — until you realize that they don’t even know she’s gay — is even harder. When Abby (Stewart) learns that Harper (Davis) has kept their relationship a secret from her family, she begins to question the girlfriend she thought she knew.

Plaza, Stewart and Davis are joined by Alison Brie, Daniel Levy, Mary Holland, Burl Moseley, Victor Garber and Mary Steenburgen in a film that captures the range of emotions tied to wanting your family’s acceptance, being true to yourself and trying not to ruin Christmas.

Sample dialogue: “I’m scared that if I tell them who I really am that I will lose them,” Harper tells Abby. “Do you know how painful it is to watch the person I love hide me?” she replies. Harper: “I’m not hiding you — I’m hiding me.”

Clea DuVall directs from a script she wrote with Mary Holland.

Hulu will premiere the holiday rom-com on Wednesday, November 25 — the day before Thanksgiving.

The 35-year-old Puerto Rican actress and Parks and Recreation alum has joined the cast of the TriStar Pictures and Entertainment One romantic comedy Happiest Season, starring Kristen Stewart and Mackenzie Davis.

Directed and co-written by Clea DuVall, and co-written by Mary HollandHappiest Season follows a young woman (Stewart) whose plan to propose to her girlfriend (Davis) while at her family’s annual holiday party is upended when she discovers her partner hasn’t yet come out to her conservative parents (played by Steenburgen and Garber). 

The film is set to hit theaters on November 20. eOne will distribute the film in UK and Canada.

Filming is currently underway in Pittsburgh, PA.

Natalia Reyes to Join Her “Terminator: Dark Fate” Cast Mates at San Diego Comic-Con

The 32-year-old Colombian actress and her Terminator: Dark Fate co-stars Arnold SchwarzeneggerLinda HamiltonMackenzie DavisGabriel Luna and Diego Boneta, as well as director Tim Miller, are also expected to hit the stage in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC).

Reyes and the gang will make the trek for Paramountand Skydance’s Terminator: Dark Fate panel, which will be held July 18.

With a start time of 11:00 a.m. PT, the Dark Fate presentation will kick off the Hall H proceedings.

With Hamilton joining Schwarzenegger onstage, the panel will see the two original Terminator actors usher in a new and rising generation of Hollywood talent.

The presentation is expected to reveal new footage from the sci-fi action movie that opens on November 1.

Their personal and professional partnership will be challenged by greed and ego while charting the changing culture in Texas’ Silicon Prairie. It stars Lee Pace, Scoot McNairy and Mackenzie Davis.

The 53-year-old Argentine filmmaker will direct former Pushing Daisies star Lee Pace and Mackenzie Davis in AMC’s drama pilot Halt & Catch Fire from AMC Studios.

Set in the early 1980s, Halt & Catch Fire centers on the personal computing boom through the eyes of a visionary, an engineer and a prodigy whose innovations directly confront the corporate behemoths of the time. Their personal and professional partnership will be challenged by greed and ego while charting the changing culture in Texas’ Silicon Prairie.

Pace will portray the visionary, the confident and powerful Joe MacMillan. Once a superstar salesman at IBM, MacMillan recently departed under mysterious circumstances only to resurface at a Dallas tech company.

Davis will plays the prodigy, Cameron Howe, a talented but volatile computer programming graduate student whose aggressive exterior has everything to do with protecting a vulnerability underneath.

Campanella previously directed episodes of House: MD, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and 30 Rock, as well as the award-winning Argentine miniseries El hombre de tu vida.
