Gaby Moreno Releases New Single “Nobody’s Wrong”

Gaby Moreno is celebrating the right kind of wrong

The 40-year-old Guatemalan singer-songwriter has released her latest single “Nobody’s Wrong.”

Gaby MorenoMoreno’s new single is a track infused with a little rock ‘n’ roll that perfectly fuses her breathtaking voice.

The single has that Creedence Clearwater Revival vibe that transports you back in time to the ’60s or ’70s.

The lyrics talk about carrying on with your life and not getting sucked in by all the drama that two very different, but very valid points of view can create.

“Nobody’s Wrong” is off her recently announced full-length album, Alegoría, which will be released on April 22 via Metamorfosis.

Ricardo Arjona to Livestream Concert, Titled “Hecho a la Antigua,” from His Native Guatemala

Ricardo Arjona is ready to illuminate your world…

The 57-year-old Guatemalan singer-songwriter will livestream a single concert from the historic city of Antigua, in his native Guatemala.

Ricardo Arjona

Hecho a la Antigua,” a play on words that translates to “Made the Old Fashioned Way,” will livestream at 9:00 pm on April 10.

Tickets to the show go on sale on Wednesday, March 10.

Known for tours that feature stunning staging and visuals, Arjona is looking to push the envelope with “Hecho a la Antigua.” Beyond the exquisite locale — Antigua is famously beautiful — the actual concert will stream from the circular patio of the 18th century church and convent of Las Capuchinas, with special care taken to work with the natural acoustics of the monument.

More than 30 musicians will be flown in for the performance, and, most impressive of all, the show’s lighting will be provided entirely by more than 5,000 candles. According to Arjona’s team, there will be no artificial lighting used at all.

Tickets will be priced at $15, and those who purchase their tickets the first week of on-sale will also be able to partake in a conversation with Arjona following the concert.

Arjona, who’s been releasing his music independently on his own label, Metamorfosis, for the past few years (distributed by The Orchard) has also built a loyal online following and regularly releases music and premium content exclusively to subscribing fans on his website. That strategy may translate very successfully to strong ticket sales for his first-ever livestream.

Arjona regularly fills arenas in the United States, but his top touring markets are Argentina and Mexico, both places where live shows have been shuttered since the beginning of the pandemic.

“Hecho a la Antigua” is being produced by Fenix Entertainment Group in partnership with Metamorfosis. The concert will stream for a single time on hechoalaantigua.com.

Arjona’s Website Crashes in 30 Seconds After 100,000 Fans Download His New Single

Ricardo Arjona knows how to shut down the Internet…

The 52-year-old Guatemalan singer-songwriter’s website, ricardoarjona.com, collapsed after he allowed fans to download his new single, “Nada es como tu,” for free on Friday.

Ricardo Arjona

Arjona announced on his social media pages that he’d be offering “Nada es como tu” exclusively on his website, and not on iTunes (“No en iTunes,” read the banners on his social sites).

The single was offered as a free download for two hours on Friday.

Within 30 seconds, 100,000 users went on the website in an effort to download the single, causing it to crash.

“We had prepared for big traffic, but never for what is happening,” Arjona posted on his page. “We are working on making the single available to you.”

The new single hails from Arjona’s all acoustic album, Apague la luz y escuche… It features Arjona singing simply with his guitar and little else.

“Nada es como tu” will be available for sale beginning Monday (June 20), only on Arjona’s website.

This isn’t the first time Arjona has tried a maverick move. Several years ago, the Guatemalan star announced he would record and release his music independently, after years on major labels. Arjona’s most recent album, Viaje, was released on his own label, Metamorfosis, with distribution from Sony.

Rivera’s Latest Set “1 Vida – 3 Historias” Reaches No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums Chart

She may be gone, but Jenni Rivera’s legacy lives on…

Two years after a plane crash claimed her life, the late Mexican American singer-songwriter returns to the summit on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart with 1 Vida – 3 Historias: Metamorfosis – Despedida de Culican – Jenni Vive 2013.

Jenni Rivera

The special set from La Diva de la Banda sold 4,000 copies in its first week according to Nielsen, giving Rivera her sixth (and fourth consecutive) No. 1 on the chart.

Among women, only Selena has more No. 1 albums, with seven leaders.

Rivera is also the highest-ranked woman on Billboard‘s year-end Top Latin Artists chart, ranking at No. 5. The next-highest female artist is Shakira, at No. 32.

Moreno Releases Spanish-Language Holiday Album, “Posada”

Gaby Moreno is getting into the holiday spirit… en español

The 32-year-old Guatemalan singer-songwriter and guitarist has released a Christmas album that’s being heralded as an insta-Latin holiday classic.

Gaby Moreno

Moreno’s Posada, released in the U.S. on indie label Cosmica, blends the singer’s love of gospel, soul and piano jazz with acoustic sounds from her Central American roots to revive a set of traditional holiday songs.

Moreno performs standard Spanish-language hymns with passion, delivering a beautiful rendition of “El Niño del Tambor” and bringing a little naughty to “Peces en el Rio” in a revved-up cabaret version of the children’s Christmas classic.

On an album that includes English and German-language lyrics, the singer seduces with a retro “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” set to brushed drums. Moreno and her band add some honky tonk to “Go Tell It on the Mountain.”

A video for Moreno’s spare and emotive “Primer Noel,” premiering on Billboard.com, features the artist reliving childhood holiday memories.

Unlike the album, which is notable for Moreno’s decidedly non-secular approach to holiday music, the video brings some typical Christmas commercialism to her message with a bottle of Pepsi placed prominently on her piano. Moreno recently appeared at a Pepsi holiday concert and in a commercial for the beverage’s holiday campaign in Guatemala.

Moreno has a strong bilingual following in her adopted home city of Los Angeles, and she’s most widely known to Spanish-speakers for her 2011 duet with Ricardo Arjona, “Fuiste Tu.” That track has neared 165 million views on YouTube, and it rose to #1 on Billboard’s Latin Pop Airplay and Tropical Airplay charts.

Moreno parlayed that connection into a well-received Latin American tour for her 2012 album Postales, released on Arjona’s label Metamorfosis, which also produced her Christmas record.

Despite being named Best New Artist at the 2013 Latin Grammys, the singer still remains underappreciated in the U.S. Latin market. Postales sold 3,000 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen Soundscan.

Arjona Releases His Latest Single “Apnea”

Ricardo Arjona is sharing his Apnea with the world…

The 50-year-old Guatemalan singer-songwriter has released his new single “Apnea,” a powerful ballad from his upcoming studio album Viaje.

Ricardo Arjona

Arjona debuted the single after revealing it in pieces throughout the past week by posting clues surrounding the track to his fans, including his 12 million Facebook followers.

On March 3, fans were given the chance to unlock the first minute of the song through a campaign on his website by reaching 50,000 clicks to access the content.

With more than 100,000 visits the preview was quickly obtained by followers a day prior to the official release.  An official lyric video for the full track was uploaded on YouTube the following day, along with its delivery to digital retailers distributed by Sony Music Latin.

“Apnea,” meaning the inability to breathe, holds a special meaning to Arjona, who expressed, “There are personal events that made me write this song.  The lyrics, word for word are what I lived and breathed with those around me.”

The song has Arjona’s distinct sound, telling the heartbreaking tale of of trying to cope with the end or a relationship.

The singer added “I couldn’t find another word in the dictionary to reflect the feeling of this abandonment more accurately than Apnea.”

Arjona’s extensive Billboard chart history spans over 20 years and includes five No. 1 songs on the Hot Latin Songs chart, most recently with “Te Quiero,” which spent two weeks at the top in September 2012.  He’s had 12 top 10 albums on the Top Latin Albums list, including four No. 1s.

With more than 2 million albums sold in the United States alone, according to Nielsen SoundScan, he is a symbolic figure in the industry with a vast presence in Latin America as well.

Arjona’s upcoming album Viaje will be released on April 29 through his independent label, Metamorfosis.
