Natalie Martinez to Star Opposite Vince Vaughn in Apple TV+ Drama Series “Bad Monkey”

The 37-year-old Cuban-American actress has been cast as a series regular opposite Vince Vaughn in the Apple TV+ drama series Bad Monkey.

Martinez replaces Ana Villafañe, who had originally been cast in the role.

The series, written and executive produced by Ted Lasso co-creator Bill Lawrence, based on Carl Hiaasen’s popular 2013 novel of the same name.

Bad Monkey tells the story of Andrew Yancy (Vaughn), a onetime detective demoted to restaurant inspector in Southern Florida. A severed arm found by a tourist out fishing pulls Yancy into the world of greed and corruption that decimates the land and environment in both Florida and the Bahamas. And yes, there’s a monkey.

Martinez plays Rosa, a Miami medical examiner who is starting to realize she may not be cut out for her job, so is happy to ditch work and help Yancy try to figure out the story of the severed arm he brings into her lab.

In addition to Vaughn, Martinez joins Michelle Monaghan, Jodie Turner-Smith, Meredith Hagner, Rob Delaney and Arturo Luis Soria in the cast. Alex Moffat guest stars.

Lawrence executive produces through his Doozer Productions alongside Matt Tarses and Doozer’s Jeff Ingold. Marcos Siega directs the first episode and serves as executive producer. Doozer’s Liza Katzer serves as co-executive producer. Warner Bros Television is the studio.

Martinez starred as Amy Kindelán opposite James Wolk in Ordinary Joe. She previously starred in the series KingdomThe Crossing, Under the Dome and Secrets and Lies.

The 34-year-old Cuban American actress and model will star in Netflix’s new sci-fi action adventure series The I-Land from Neil LaBute.

When ten people wake up on a treacherous island with no memory of who they are or how they got there, they set off on a trek to try to get back home. They soon discover this world is not as it seems. Faced with the island’s extreme psychological and physical challenges, they must rise to their better selves — or die as their worst ones.

Kate Bosworth stars as KC and serves as a producer on the series. Martinez will star as Chase. Alex Pettyfer will star as Brody.

Nomadic Pictures Entertainment is producing the series, which received a seven episode order.

It’s the latest television series for Martinez, who previously appeared on The Crossing, APB, Secrets and Lies and Under the Dome.

NBC Moves Vasquez’s Supernatural Series “Midnight, Texas” to Mondays

Yul Vazquez is moving to Mondays…

NBC has made a few tweaks to its summer schedule, including moving Midnight, Texas, starring the 52-year-old Cuban American actor, to Mondays.

The supernatural series, based on the book series from True Blood author Charlaine Harris, will now premiere on Monday, July 24, instead of Tuesday, July 25, in the same 10:00 pm ET time slot.

The move to Mondays allows the show to make its full run in the same time slot throughout the summer. Monday 10:00 pm also is historically a strong time slot for summer – CBS launched Under the Dome in that slot and the series ran for three seasons.

Additionally, the series premiere for Jennifer Lopez’s World of Dance has moved to 10:00 pm ET on Tuesday, May 30 from its original May 8 slot, now piggybacking with the return of America’s Got Talent.

The move also allows the show to remain on Tuesdays throughout its run. It initially was scheduled to switch to Tuesdays after three weeks.

Hollywood Game Night has moved to June 22, from its original date of August 7. With that, The Wall time slot has shifted to 9:00 pm ET, and The Night Shift to 10:00 pm ET.

Martinez to Star in the Revenge Thriller “Message From The King”

The 30-year-old Cuban American actress has landed a role in Message From The King, a revenge thriller from director Fabrice Du Welz.

The film stars Chadwick Boseman as Jacob, a South African man who descends into the Los Angeles underworld in an attempt to avenge his younger sister’s death and rescue her stepson from the immoral world into which he’s been sold.

Martinez will portray Trish, the former neighbor of Jacob’s missing sister Bianca who he recruits to help find the woman’s murderer.

Teresa Palmer, Luke Evans and Alfred Molina also star.

Filming is expected to begin this month in Los Angeles.

Martinez currently plays Jess Murphy on ABC’s midseason Sunday drama Secrets And Lies, and her other recent credits include multiple episodes of Under The DomeCSI: NY and Detroit 1-8-7.

She will next be seen in the Focus Features summer pic Self/Less starring Ryan Reynolds and Ben Kingsley.

ABC’s murder mystery Secrets and Lies, starring the 30-year-old Cuban American actress, will succeed Resurrection on Sundays at 9:00 pm ET.

Based on an Australian format, the series stars Ryan Phillippe and Juliette Lewis. It centers on a family man who finds the body of a young boy while jogging and becomes the prime suspect. He has no choice but to try to find the real killer as his marriage, his kids, his reputation, and his sanity are all at stake.

Martinez, who most recently starred on CBSUnder the Dome, portrays Jess Mullen on Secrets and Lies.

It will launch with a two-hour premiere from 9-11 PM on March 1 before moving into its regular 9-10 PM slot the following week.

The series also stars KaDee Strickland, Dan Fogler, Indiana Evans, Natalie Crawford and Belle Shouse.

Martinez will join Bella Thorne, portraying the Disney starlet’s strong-willed stepmother, who is determined to keep her new family intact as the night’s horrific events unfold.

Martinez, who most recently starred on CBSUnder the Dome, will portray the wife of Ryan Reynolds’ character in the sci-fi thriller.

Reynolds stars in the tale of a terminally ill billionaire who undergoes an experimental procedure to transfer his consciousness into the body of a younger man, only to be hunted by the killers who murdered his host.

Ben Kingsley and Matthew Goode also star in the film.

It’s the latest film project for Martinez, who recently landed a role in Warner Bros.’s Run All Night.

She’ll play Gabriela, the wife of Kinnaman’s character Mike and mother of their two young children. When Mike’s estranged mob hitman father Jimmy takes on his ex-boss, he and his son are forced to go on the run.

The film, written by Brad Ingelsby, will be directed by Jaume Collet-Serra.

Martinez rose to acclaim as the spokesmodel for JLO by Jennifer Lopez. Her other credits include a supporting role in Death Race and an appearance in the music video titled “Rain Over Me” by Pitbull featuring Marc Anthony.

CBS has renewed Under the Dome, which stars the 29-year-old Cuban American actress, for a second-season.

The sci-fi horror series, ian adaptation of Stephen King’s novel of the same name, will return next summer.

King will write Season 2′s opening episode.

This is the way television should be,” CBS Corp CEO Leslie Moonves said.

He touted the blueprint the network followed with the series, which could be done on a lower summer license fee thanks to strong international sales and a deal with Amazon, which aired the episodes four days after their CBS premiere.

“It’s been a great new model,” said Moonves. 

Under The Dome, originally developed at CBS’ sibling Showtime, has been a strong ratings performer.

After a big premiere, which soared to a 4.6 rating in 18-49 and 17.8 million total viewers in Live+7, it kept steady. Its ratings have been on a growth path for the last two weeks, most recently drawing 2.7/8 and 11.4 million in the fast nationals last week.

Martinez portrays Deputy Linda Esquivel, a loyal and ambitious sheriff’s deputy, on the series. It tells the story of the residents of the town of Chester’s Mill, who suddenly find themselves cut off from the rest of the world by a mysterious, impenetrable (but semipermeable) barrier that surrounds the town.
