Prince Royce’s “Five” Debuts at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums Chart

Prince Royce is reigning supreme…

The 27-year-old Dominican American singer crowns Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart (dated March 18) four a fourth time, as his latest studio album, Five, arrives with 19,000 album equivalent units earned in the tracking week ending March 2, according to Nielsen Music.

Prince Royce’s set bows at No. 25 on the all-genre Billboard 200.

Of that sum, 16,000 were in traditional album sales, which is the biggest sales frame for a Latin album since Gerardo Ortiz’s Hoy Mas Fuerta bowed at No. 1 with 20,000 sold on the June 6, 2015-dated list.

Five marks Royce’s first Spanish-language arrival since Soy El Mismo topped the chart for two weeks in 2013 — and follows his previous English-language release, Double Vision, which landed at No. 21 on the Billboard 200 on the August 15, 2015 chart.

Elsewhere, Five’s current single “Deja Vu,” featuring Shakira, hops 18-13 on Hot Latin Songs in its second charting frame, aided in part by a 17 percent increase in sales (to 3,000 downloads). The rise bumps the track 2-1 on the Tropical Digital Song Sales chart, notching Royce his fifth chart-topper.

A music video for “Deja Vu” was recently shot and is expected to be released sometime in March. Five also includes features by Chris Brown, Zendaya and Farruko, among others.

Since notching his first No. 1 on the March 12, 2011 chart with “Corazon Sin Cara” (two weeks at No. 1), only one other act has more crowning hits: Romeo Santos, with 11 in that time span.

Elsewhere, “Carretera” reaches a new peak on the Hot Latin Songs chart jumping 14-8 in its 16th frame.

The track previews Royce’s forthcoming Spanish-language album, due later this year.

It will be his first Spanish album since Soy El Mismo was released in 2013 and will follow his debut English-language effort, Double Vision (2015).

“Prince Royce’s “Culpa al Corazon” single will be released on November 13.

“I know that my fans are waiting for a new bachata song,” Royce told Billboard before his performance at the iHeartRadio Fiesta Latina, where he performed “Back it Up” with Jennifer Lopez.

“Culpa” is Royce’s first single from his next Spanish studio album, which will drop in 2016.

This new bachata song won’t stop the Latin heartthrob from being part of America’s favorite holiday tradition: the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.

“I’m excited and happy, my family is from New York, so they can see me at the parade,” added Royce.

This year, Prince Royce will join Mariah Carey, Shawn Mendes, NHL legends Mark and Marty Howe, the cast of Broadway‘s School of Rock, Trey Songz, Jordin Sparks, Chica and the gang from Sprout and Train, among others.

The 89th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will broadcast live Thursday, November 26, at 9:00 am ET on NBC.

Produced by Rune Westberg and co-written by Prince Royce, the track is available for download to those who pre-order the new album on iTunes, along with Royce’s current single, “Back It Up,” and his previous one, “Stuck on a Feeling.”

Prince Royce flexes his falsetto on “Extraordinary” atop an acoustic guitar, showing that he’s equally capable of performing ballads as he is singing about “backing it up.”

It’s shaping up to be a busy late summer/fall for the bachata idol, who embarks on a tour with Ariana Grande starting July 16 through mid-October.

In addition to releasing the track, Prince Royce also released the full track list for Double Vision:

Prince Royce’s Debut English Album “Double Vision” Due July 24

Prince Royce will be a (double) vision this summer…

The 26-year-old Dominican American singer-songwriter’s highly anticipated English-language album debut will be called Double Vision, and will be released July 24 on RCA Records, riding on the momentum of his new single “Back It Up” with Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull.

The chart-climbing track follows the Bronx-born bachatero’s first single in English, “Stuck on a Feeling.”

The list of collaborators on Royce’s English project reads like a who’s who of pop hitmakers, with names including Illya Salmanzadeh (Ariana Grande); Jason Evigan (Jason Derulo); Toby Gad (Beyoncé); Roccstar (Chris Brown); and more.

“What I put out in English, that’s who most people are going to think I am — that’s why I’m being so careful,” Royce told Billboard for a cover story earlier this year. “I love hip-hop, R&B, techno and Latin. The album’s a combination of everything I grew up listening to.”

It’s shaping up to be a busy summer for Royce, who kicks off his tour with Ariana Grande on July 16 in Tampa, Florida.
