The nominations for the MTV Europe Music Awards 2022 have been announced, with the 28-year-old Spanish singer/songwriter earning the most nominations of any Latinx artist.

The 28-year-old Puerto Rican superstar is nominated for Best Collaboration for his single “Me Porto Bonito,” featuring Chencho Corleone, who has earned two nods – his first-ever MTV EMAs nominations.

Shakira has earned two nods, including Best Collaboration for her single with Rauw Alejandro, “Te Felicito.”

Stephen Sanchez has earned his first-ever MTV EMA nods…

The 19-year-old Latino Americam “Until I Found You” singer earned two nods, including one for Best New (Artist).

Other Latino nominees include Omar Apollo, J Balvin, Becky G, Anitta and Rauw Alejandro.

Düsseldorf will be the city hosting the MTV EMAs 2022 at PSD Bank Dome in Germany. The award show will take place on November 13 live across the globe on MTV and made available the next day on Paramount+ and Pluto TV.

Maluma to Perform at This Year’s MTV Europe Music Awards

Maluma is ready to take the MTV EMAs stage…

The 27-year-old Colombian Latin music superstar will perform at the 2021 MTV Europe Music Awards on November 14.

Maluma x BalmainMaluma is part of a performers roster that includes Måneskin and Kim Petras.

Maluma made waves in the U.S. with his electric performance of “Hawái” at the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards, where he took the award for Best Latin.

This year, Maluma is nominated at the EMA for Best Latin and Best Lat Am-Central Act.

MTV announced its first round of performers for the upcoming EMA on Wednesday (Oct. 27) and is expected to soon reveal the show’s host, presenters and more performers.

Justin Bieber leads with eight nominations, while Doja Cat and Lil Nas X each have six.

Broadcasting live from Papp László Budapest Sportaréna in Hungary, the 2021 MTV EMA are slated to air on November 14 at 3:00 pm ET across MTV’s channels.

Fans can cast their votes ahead of the awards show on mtvema.com until November 10.

Karol G: The Top Female Winner at This Year’s MTV European Music Awards

Karol G is celebrating a big run at the 2020 MTV European Music Awards.

The 29-year-old Colombian singer picked up two awards at the MTV EMAs, the most of any female artist for the night, and the first of her career.

Karol G won in the Best Collaboration category for “Tusa,” her chart-topping predominantly Spanish single, featuring Nicki Minaj.

It’s the second consecutive year the winner in the Best Collaboration category is a Spanish track. Last year’s winner: Rosalia and J Balvin’s “Con Altura,”featuring El Guincho.

Karol G also took home the inaugural Best Latin award. She was the only female nominated in the category, beating out Maluma, Bad Bunny, J Balvin, Ozuna and her boyfriend Anuel AA.

Cardi B took home the award for Best Hip Hop.

The 28-year-old half-Dominican American rap superstar is only the second female artist to win in that category, following Minaj, a five-time winner in the category.

Luiza Brasil to Receive Generation Change Award at This Year’s MTV EMAs

MTV International is honoring five “fearless women” with the 2020 MTV EMA Generation Change Award, including the Brazilian activist, for their work fighting for racial and social justice around the world.

Brasil is a racial activist, journalist and founder of Mequetrefismos, a platform that advocates for racial representation and elevates Black people’s work in creative fields like fashion, music, and art.

Little Mix’s Leigh-Anne Pinnock will present the awards during the “pre-game show” leading up to the 2020 MTV EMAs on November 8.

In addition to amplifying their stories on-air and on the brand’s social and digital platforms in nearly 180 countries, ViacomCBS and MTV International will make a monetary donation to each honoree’s organization.

The 2020 MTV EMA Generation Change Award winners are:

Luiza Brasil – Brazil – Brasil is a racial activist, journalist and founder of Mequetrefismos, a platform that advocates for racial representation and elevates Black people’s work in such creative fields as fashion, music, and art.

Kiki Mordi – Nigeria – Mordi is an investigative journalist, documentary filmmaker and advocate for gender equality. She is a prominent voice in the protests to end police brutality and stop Special Anti-Robbery Squads (SARS) in Nigeria. Mordi fights for women’s and children rights in her BBC documentary Sex For Grades.

Temi Mwale – U.K. – Mwale is a racial justice campaigner and founder of The 4Front Project, a member-led youth organization. Her work focuses on fighting against institutional racism and systemic violence by supporting those most harmed by violence and the criminal justice system.

Catherhea Potjanaporn – Malaysia – Potjanaporn is a portrait photographer who captures diverse faces and bodies, to draw attention to underrepresented communities and to challenge conventional beauty standards. Much of her work focuses on elevating women of color.

Raquel Willis – U.S. – Willis is a Black, transgender activist, writer, media strategist and founder of Black Trans Circles, a project of the Transgender Law Center (TLC). She was also a leading figure in recent New York City-based Black Trans Lives Matter protests and rallies.

Anitta Signs Recording Deal with Warner Records

The 27-year-old Brazilian singer, a massive star in Latin America, has signed a recording contract with Warner Records. And she’s eyeing the release of a multilingual debut, to be produced by Ryan Tedder, in the U.S. later this year.

She’s previously collaborated with the likes of Miley CyrusBecky GJ BalvinKaty PerryDavid Guetta and P. Diddy.

Already a star in her native Brazil — where Anitta is the most streamed artist — and beyond, Anitta’s digital profile includes 47 million Instagram followers, nearly 5 billion YouTube views, in addition to more than 14 million YouTube subscribers, and 6.5 billion cumulative Spotif ystreams. 

She has been nominated for five Latin Grammys and has won 6 MTV EMAs. She was set to perform at Coachellaand Rock In Riothis year before the COVID-19pandemic caused the cancellation of both.

Becky G to Release Debut Album, “Mala Santa,” This Month

Becky G is finally ready for her big debut…

The 22-year-old Mexican American bilingual singer/rapper, who has released singles and collaborations since 2013, is set to release her first album in the near future.

Becky G has revealed that her debut album Mala Santa will arrive on Thursday, October 17. Becky G shared the news on social media, writing: “Finally. This is my new era.”

During the past few years, the singer/songwriter and soon-to-be host of 2019 MTV EMAs awardshas proven her versatility as an entertainer.

Becky G has already conquered Billboard’s Latin Airplaychart with “Mayores” and “Sin Pijama.” With “Mayores,” she became one of only five women to achieve that feat in 2017.

Next week, Becky G will also participate at the Billboard Latin AMAs Summit as a speaker on The Superstar panel, and will be honored with the Extraordinary Evolution Award at the 2019 Latin American Music Awards for her success as a young performer who has reached the pinnacle of success in a short period of time.

Mala Santa will be available for preorder on October 11.

The 22-year-old Mexican American bilingual singer-songwriter, who just released the trilingual track “Chicken Noodle Soup” with BTSJ-Hope, is set to host this year’s MTV Europe Music Awards, as well as perform at the awards show, which will take place in Seville, Spain.

Becky G is set for a busy night as she also has a nomination, taking on Ariana GrandeCamila Cabello, Halsey, the Jonas Brothers, and Shawn Mendes in the Best Pop category.

Becky G has notched two number one hits on the Billboard Latin Airplay charts –  “Mayores” and “Sin Pijama” – and on-screen had a starring role in the Power Rangersmovie. She has also guest-starred on the Foxseries Empire.
