Shakira Teams Up with the Black Eyed Peas & David Guetta to Release New Single “Don’t You Worry”

Shakira doesn’t want you to worry…

The 45-year-old Colombian superstar has teamed up with the Black Eyed Peas and David Guetta to release the new single “Don’t You Worry,” a feel good, space-themed summer anthem.

Shakira, David Guetta, Black Eyed PeasThe new music video for the single finds the three rap stars behind BEP — will.i.am, apl.de.ap, and Taboo — playing aliens who come in peace to Shakira’s home planet, where the “Hips Don’t Lie” singer leads the charge in greeting and communicating with the extraterrestrial newcomers.

“Don’t you worry, don’t you worry about a thing,” the quartet sings, with Shakira later transforming into a silver alien being and beaming herself and the Black Eyed Peas into a pyramid-shaped space ship. “Everything’s gonna be alright.”

The new song is the band’s second time collaborating with Shakira, following their 2020 single “Girl Like Me” which peaked at No. 67 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Guetta, who makes a small cameo in the music video, has been working with the Peas for more than a decade, known in particular for his production on the group’s smash hit “I Gotta Feeling” — something that explains why the razor-edged synth melody in “Don’t You Worry” sounds so familiar.

BEP, whose ninth studio album is expected to be announced soon, shared part of the video on their Instagram, writing, “LOVE to all the talented creatives involved and to our fans for your infinite support” as well as commenting: “Anyone agrees this has got ‘I Gotta Feeling’ vibe to it?? @davidguetta.”

Shakira to Host & Executive Produce NBC’s Dance Competition Series “Dancing with Myself”

Shakira isn’t afraid to dance alone…

The 44-year-old Colombian superstar will be fronting a new dance competition format for NBC.

Shakira, Don't Wait Up

The network has ordered Dancing with Myself, inspired by the millions tuning in to watch the latest dance crazes on social media sites like TikTok.

Shakira, who has sold more than 300 million albums and went viral last year with her Girl Like Me dances, will star and executive produce the series.

It hails from Irwin Entertainment, the production company run by John Irwin, and Universal Television Alternative Studio.

Family-friendly competition series Dancing with Myself will see a group of dancers compete each week in a series of high-energy dance challenges designed and demonstrated by the show’s celebrity creators, including Shakira.

Isolated in their own pods, contestants have a short time to learn the new routines, add their unique flare and then perform their hearts out in front of a live audience. As each round of the competition progresses, Shakira and her judging panel provide instant feedback and encouragement, but, ultimately, it’s the studio audience that decides who is named best dancer of the night and gets to take home the cash prize.

Irwin, who created the series, will exec produce with Dave Kuba, Eli Frankel and Ben Thursby-Palmer, as well as Shakira and her manager Jaime Levine.

NBCUniversal Formats, a division of Universal Studio Group, will license the format internationally.

“I’m excited to be a part of a dance competition that places such a high value on creative movement and how it translates into personal expression, not to mention how it contributes to a sense of community,” Shakira said. “I’ve personally been blown away by some of the talent I’ve seen thanks to people having access to their own platforms through social media. Dance has been an incredibly potent force throughout my life, and I’m eager to show the world how transformative, empowering and fun it can be.”

“Shakira is one of the most influential icons in the industry with an incredible presence and platform to inspire her devoted fanbase to incorporate dance into their lives,” added Irwin. “The series amplifies the familiar, much-loved format with a fresh twist as it’s the first ever to leap into today’s Internet dance craze. Dancing with Myself is sure to be a universal experience that moves viewers of all ages, everywhere.”

Shakira Rides the Waves in Music Video for New English Single “Don’t Wait Up”

Shakira is making waves with her latest single…

The 44-year-old Colombian singer and songwriter has released her new single “Don’t Wait Up,” her first all-English track since her 2017 recordings “When a Woman” and “What We Said” ft. MAGIC!, which appeared on her album El Dorado.

Shakira, Don't Wait Up

“I have to say, I’m very nervous because it’s my first English song in a long time because I’ve been focusing on Spanish songs only lately, but this song came about and I’m like, yeah, it’s time,” the chart-topping artist told Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1. “It’s time to do this again and I’m happy, and I’m so inspired right now.”

The EDM track, co-produced by Shak and Ian Kirkpatrick, starts off with a soft melodic beat but quickly picks up speed to introduce the earworm chorus “don’t wait up.”

In the official music video, Shakira rides a glow-in-the-dark surfboard, harnessing a wave while letting pink neon light up her face. It’s a stunt that very few artists could pull off, and underlines Shakira’s effortless cool.

Filmed in Tenerife, Spain, Shak noted the “very nostalgic” but in an “awesome way” music video took two months of preparation and was very challenging.

“Those scenes of me riding those waves, it was at two in the morning. From two to five in the morning, three hours in the water,” she added. “I made sure that the water wasn’t cold because I’m such a chicken for cold water unless I have a full wetsuit. But the director was like, you’re not going with a full wet suit on this video. You’re going to be in a bathing suit, in a bikini. I’m like, no, no, no, I’m not going to be in a bikini, surfing in a bikini. I’m not that fit. I need to wear something to hold everything in properly, but okay, I’ll give you some legs. I said that. So we kind of compromised.”

The new single arrives more than a year after the release of her Anuel AA-assisted song “Me Gusta” and seven months after her chart-topping collaboration with Black Eyed Peas on “Girl Like Me.”

Shakira is returning with new music…

The 44-year-old Colombian singer and songwriter has shared a 30-second video of what could potentially be the name and part of the lyrics of her next single.

“Won’t you put down your phone?/ Don’t be afraid if it gets late/ I need to do something for myself/ You’ll survive, it’s just one night/ I wish I’d be happy without ya/ Don’t wait up,” she types in the conversation.

If the chat is any indication, the song will be called “Don’t Wait Up” and will be primarily in English.

Shakira also changed her logos across social media to an orange and purple gradient image and added a pre-save link for fans to get first dibs on her new music.

The announcement comes more than a year after the release of her Anuel AA-assisted song “Me Gusta” and seven months after her collaboration with Black Eyed Peas on “Girl Like Me.”

The 44-year-old Colombian singer/songwriter is making new music.

Shakira took to social media to share a behind-the-scenes photo of her in the recording studio. “Cooking something,” she captioned the pic, in which she’s seen wearing a burgundy jogger set that perfectly matches her newly dyed red hair.

Fans raided the comments section with hopeful messages such as “finally, we can’t wait,” “every day closer, we’re waiting for you” and “S12 is coming,” referring to possibly her 12th studio album following 2017’s El Dorado.

Shakira is seeing red…

The 44-year-old Colombian superstar showed off her newly dyed red hair on social media, leaving Shak’s fans wondering if “Rockira” is making a return to the scene.

Shakira

“Voila,” she captioned her photo posted on Friday, February 5, prompting reactions from Twitter users who’ve said that the new color is giving them 1999 vibes, which Shakira recorded her MTV Unplugged and had fiery-red hair.

“New hair, new era. Shakira is coming back,” tweeted another fan.

In a second post, Shakira explained, while her “Girl Like Me” song plays in the background, that her hair was supposed to be a pink color but she ran out of dye.

There’s no girl quite like Shakira…

And the 43-year-old Colombian superstar proves why in the newly-released Black Eyed Peas “Girl Like Me.”

Shakira x Girl Like Me

Showing off her killer dance moves and skateboarding skills — a hobby she picked up over the summer and clearly perfected — Shakira is the ultimate dream girl.

Meanwhile, the Black Eyed Peas appear in otherworldly, abstract sets throughout the four-minute clip where they list why they’re looking for a girl like Shakira.

“I want to find me a chica that knows how to live and lives her life.”

The highly-anticipated video dropped over the weekend nearly six months after BEP premiered the track in June, included in the Black Eyed Peas chart-topping Translation album.

“Shakira and I worked on ‘Girl Like Me’ in 2008,” says BEP’s will.i.am. “I’m so happy it’s out in the world. I’ve always loved the melody, and I’m so happy Shakira and I worked together to release the song and made a video in 2020 for the world to hear and see.”
