JoAnna Garcia Swisher Taking Part in St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Livestream Fundraiser

The 40-year-old half-Cuban American actress has joined the all-star roster of musicians, actors, athletes and influencers gathering for a special #GivingTuesdayNowevent today (May 5) to raise funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The “Take 5 Together #forStJude” livestream will take place from 2:00 – 6:00 pm EST and feature singing, dancing, cooking, stretching and laughter in honor of the hospitalthat is the leader in treating childhood cancer.

In addition to Garcia Swisher, the event lineup includes Michael StrahanDrew BarrymoreAshley TisdaleKaia Gerber,Rio RomaShaedSofi TukkerNick SwisherScotty McCreery, Chef Adrianne Calvoand more.

All will “take 5” with St. Jude patients in an effort to “delight and inspire viewers,” according to a statement announcing the event.

St. Jude has also partnered with school spirit company Varsity Brandsfor a TikTokdance challenge to engage supporters willing to show off their best moves #forStJude.

“At St. Jude, our patient families remind us daily that no matter where we are in the world and whatever difficult circumstances we face, it’s important to find ways to be inspired and delighted, and never lose hope,” said Richard C. Shadyac Jr., president and CEO of ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in the statement.

“On May 5, we’ll all have the opportunity to come together in support of #GivingTuesdayNow, and to bring joy and meaningful impact to the lives of millions as we ‘Take 5 Together #forStJude. Let’s show the world that when facing some of life’s greatest challenges and even when we have to be physically apart, together, we can make a difference in the lives of others and the children at St. Jude.”

Reykon to Speak at This Year’s Latino Show Conference and Awards in Colombia

The 32-year-old Colombian reggaeton singer will take part in the 2019 Latino Show Conference and Awards taking place this week in Bogota, Colombia.

Reykon, known for hits like “El Chisme” and “Latina” featuring Maluma, will be present during the Week of Latin Musicin Colombia to talk about his experience and how he managed to position himself in the music industry. 

Dubbed as the most important promotion platform for Latin music in the South American country, according to an official statement, Latino Show Conference and Awards offers artists, promoters, music executives, record labels, and producers a great opportunity for networking. 

Besides Reykon, music acts who will attend the event include Chocquibtown, Rio Roma, Lupillo Rivera, and Shaila Durcal to name a few. 

The 2019 Latino Show Conference and Awards will take place on October 8, 9, and 10 at the Hotel Grand Hyatt Bogota in Colombia.

Pitbull to Perform at the Latin Grammys with Carlos Santana

Pitbull is set to join forces with a music legend at this year’s Latin Grammys

The 33-year-old Cuban American singer and Carlos Santana will perform live onstage at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas during the annual awards broadcast.

No word yet on what song(s) Pitbull and the 67-year-old Mexican musician, considered one of the greatest guitarists of all time, will perform.

In addition to his performance with Santana, Mr. Worldwide will also take the stage with Wisin and Chris Brown.

Other pairings for this year’s Latin Grammys include Magic! with Marc Anthony, and Regional Mexican star Pepe Aguilar and Spanish pop icon Miguel Bose.

Also set to perform together are: Pablo Alborán with Jesse & Joy, Marc Anthony in anther performance, this time with Carlos Vives; Rubén Blades with Carlos Franzetti, Camila with Ricky Martin, La Arrolladora Banda El Limón De René Camacho with Espinoza Paz, La Original Banda El Limón De Salvador Lizárraga with Río Roma, Carlos Vives with ChocQuibTown, and Yandel with General Gadiel and Farruko. A Best New Artist nominees medley will feature Aneeka, Pablo López and Mariana Vega.

The show will also feature performances by leading nominees Calle 13, Juanes, J Balvin, Person of the Year Joan Manuel Serrat and other stars.

Meanwhile, Enrique Iglesias, Descemer Bueno and Gente De Zona will perform their massive hit song “Bailando” live from Europe, where they are currently on tour.

A total of twenty performances are scheduled for the fifteenth Latin Grammy Awards, which will be broadcast live on Univision on November 20 at 8:00 pm ET.

Confirmed to present awards are current nominees Jorge Drexler and Prince Royce; as well as actor Daniel Arenas, actress Eiza Gonzalez, Latin Grammy winner Natalia Jiménez, singer/songwriter Joaquin Sabina, and actress Roselyn Sanchez.

Espinoza Paz Tops the List of Premios Oye! Nominees…

He’s been proclaimed “the singer-songwriter of the pueblo”… But Espinoza Paz could be called this year’s most influential musician in Mexico.

The 30-year-old Mexican artist has received four nominations for the 10th annual Premio Nacional a la Música Grabada Oye!, which are presented annually by the Academia Nacional de la Música en México for outstanding achievements in the Mexican record industry.

Paz received nods in the Popular Album, Popular Song, Norteño Solo Artist or Group and Banda Solo Artist or Group categories.

But Paz wasn’t the only artist to receive four nods… 43-year-old Mexican rockera Alejandra Guzmán scored the same number of nods.

Meanwhile, Zoé, Joan Sebastian and Calle 13 received three nominations, while Shakira, Cristian Castro, Marco Antonio Solís, Los Tigres del Norte, Franco de Vita, Río Roma and Ha*Ash received two nods each.

Nominations are determined by a jury of approximately 2, 500 experts in the music industry.

The Premio Nacional a la Música Grabada Oye! 2012 awards show will take place on February 9, 2012.
