Carla Morrison Among Artists Confirmed for Season 3 of HBO’s “HBO Latino Presents: A Tiny Audience”

A Tiny Audience is unveiling its season 3 lineup, with the 35-year-old Mexican indie-pop singer and composer among the participating artists.

Carla MorrisonPresented by HBO Latino, the series features intimate live specials with some of Latin music’s hottest acts, including Paulina Rubio in season 2, where the artist is filmed in a live and unfiltered way, revealing a personal secret to the small audience and performing songs that are meaningful to them.

In its new season, HBO Latino Presents: A Tiny Audience will present Morrison, Danna Paola, Jessie Reyez, Justin Quiles, La India, Mike Bahia, Ximena Sariñana, Jay Wheeler, Becky G, Zion y Lennox, Robin Thicke, Manuel Medrano, Leslie Grace, Guaynaa, El Fantasma, Aleks Syntek and a tribute to Celia Cruz.

Season 3 premieres on April 22 on HBO/HBO Max in the U.S. and DirecTV/DirecTV GO in Latin America.

Vertical Entertainment & DirecTV Pick Up U.S. Distribution Rights to Salma Hayek’s Comedy “Drunk Parents”

You’ll soon be able to drink in Salma Hayek’s latest project…

Vertical Entertainment and DirecTV have picked up U.S. distribution rights to BRON Studios’ comedy Drunk Parents, starring the 52-year-old Mexican actress/producer and Alec Baldwin.

The film doesn’t have a release date, but distributors are aiming for a theatrical debut sometime in the first quarter of next year.

Directed by Fred Wolf, the film centers on the attempts of two parents to hide their ever-increasing financial difficulties from their daughter and social circle through elaborate neighborhood schemes that take their lives on a hilarious downward spiral.

Jim Gaffigan, Joe Manganiello and Ben Platt also star.

Wolf and Peter Gaulke penned the screenplay for the film, which was produced by Rob Barnum and Aaron L. Gilbert.

The deal was finalized at the Toronto Film Festival.

Maximiliano Hernandez Cast In AT&T Audience Network’s Hit Series “Mr. Mercedes”

The 44-year-old Latino actor has joined the cast of AT&T Audience Network’s breakout series Mr. Mercedes.

Production begins next month in Charleston, South Carolina on the Sonar Entertainment-produced Stephen King adaptation for premiere this summer on DirecTV, AT&T U-verse and DirecTV Now.

The second season will be based on King’s best-selling Bill Hodges Trilogy, which includes, Mr. Mercedes, Finders Keepers and End of Watch.

Season 1 followed a demented killer Brady Hartsfield (Harry Treadaway) who taunts a retired police detective Bill Hodges (Brendan Gleeson) with a series of lurid letters and emails, forcing the ex-cop to undertake a private, and potentially felonious, crusade to bring the killer to justice before he is able to strike again.

Hernandez will portray Assistant DA Antonio Montez.

Hernandez joins returning cast members Jharrel Jerome as Jerome Robinson, Scott Lawrence as Detective Peter Dixon, Breeda Wool as Lou Linklatter, Justine Lupe as Holly Gibney and Holland Taylor as Ida Silver.

David E. Kelley and Dennis Lehane (Mystic River, The Drop, Live by Night) will be leading the season 2 writers room. Jack Bender will return to direct 8 of 10 episodes.

Hernandez is best known for his roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and in the first season of The Americans.

Jennifer Lopez to Headline DirecTV Now’s Pre-Super Bowl Concert, “Super Saturday Night”

The 48-year-old Puerto Rican superstar will headline DirecTV Now‘s Super Saturday Night concert for a live broadcast on February 3, 2018, at Nomadic Live! at The Armory in downtown Minneapolis.

The concert takes place the night before Super Bowl LII kicks off at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

It marks Lopez’s first time performing at the annual event, now in its 13th year.

“Jennifer’s talent and accomplishments make her the perfect entertainer to star in this year’s Super Saturday Night,” said AT&T‘s senior vice president of advertising and creator lab Valerie Vargas in a statement. “Our goal every year is to create an unforgettable experience. We want to bring fans closer to the best entertainers with premium content and performances. And this year, we’re taking it into living rooms and mobile devices across America for the first time ever.\.”

DirecTV Now Super Saturday Night with Jennifer Lopez will be live-streamed on the AT&T Audience Network and DirecTV Now.

Arciniega to Star in DirecTV’s Anthology Drama “Full Circle”

The Latino actor has joined the Season 3 cast of DirecTV’s anthology drama Full Circle.

Others rounding out the cast include Harold Perrineau, Christopher Gorham, Bob Stephenson, Raymond Cruz, Laura San Giacomo and Graham Beckel.

They join previously announced Dougray Scott, Kim Raver and Mariana Klaveno in the 10-episode season set to premiere in 2016. It will air on Audience Network on both DirecTV and AT&T U-verse.

The third season, Full Circle: Miami, revolves around a dramatic political conspiracy that unfolds inside a posh Miami hotel, where charismatic Senator Davis Faulkner (Scott) — who also is the front-runner to become the next President of the United States — finds himself entangled in a scandal that threatens to derail his campaign and destroy his life. His wife Madeline Faulkner (Raver) is a preacher’s daughter who always has been his rock, standing by his side amid all his prior indiscretions, specifically when it came to an affair with a prostitute named Angela Mancarlo (Klaveno).

Throughout the series we are introduced to the people who populate this political web, including Rick D’Andres (Gorham), Faulkner’s loyal Secret Service agent; Damon Houserman (Perrineau), his trusted campaign manager; Elena Medina (San Giacomo), a down-on-her-luck reporter; Sidney Waverly (Stephenson), a hard-nosed FBI agent; Alex Hidell (Arciniega), an innocent hotel staff member caught in the crosshairs; and Isaac Dellahunt (Beckel), the Senate Majority Leader and former head of the CIA, who is working with Federico Sturgis (Cruz), a former associate who also has his hands in organized crime with intent to bring down the Sen. Davis Faulkner.

Jorge Zamacona wrote Full Circle: Miami and will serve as executive producer. Nick Hamm (Rogue) is set to direct and produce.

DirecTV Orders an Additional 20 Episodes of Sanchez’s “Kingdom”

Only two episodes into Kingdom’s 10-episode freshman run, DirecTV has picked up the 37-year-old half-Puerto Rican actress’ MMA-themed drama series for 20 more episodes.

Kingdom, from creator/showrunner Byron Balasco and Endemol Studios, is scheduled to begin production on the new order in the spring, with the first 10 episodes airing on DirecTV’s Audience Network in fall 2015, and the following 10 slated for 2016.

Kingdom, a gritty family drama set against the backdrop of the renegade subculture of Mixed Martial Arts in Venice, CA, has launched to strong reviews. DirecTV doesn’t disclose ratings information but said that the rookie “has proven to be one of Audience Network’s most popular shows of all time.”

Returning for the next batch of 20 episodes of the series, which has been praised by local officials for filming in Los Angeles (it shoots in Venice where the show is set) are stars Sanchez, who portrays Lisa Prince, Frank Grillo, Matt Lauria, Jonathan Tucker, Nick Jonas and Joanna Going.

“DirecTV could not be more thrilled by the response that last week’s premiere of Kingdom elicited from both critics and our viewers,” said Chris Long, DirecTV’s SVP Original Content and Production. “The series very clearly resonated with DirecTV’s subscribers.”

DirecTV has released the first trailer for its upcoming MMA-themed drama series Kingdom, starring the 37-year-old half-Puerto Rican actress.

Previously titled Navy St., the 10-episode drama is described as a gritty family drama set in the Mixed Martial Arts world.

Frank Grillo (Prison Break) stars as Alvey Kulina, an MMA legend and owner of a Venice California-based Mixed Martial Arts gym.

Nick Jonas, formerly of the Jonas Brothers, plays Alvey’s close-shaved and ripped prize-fighter son Nate. Jonathan Tucker (The Ruins, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre) plays Nate’s younger brother, a world-class athlete who lost everything. And Kiele Sanchez (Lost, The Glades, The Purge: Anarchy) plays Alvey’s current girlfriend Lisa Prince, while Joanna Going (House of Cards) plays Alvey’s ex-wife Christina.

Kingdom premieres October 8 at 9:00 pm ET exclusively on DIRECTV’s Audience, channel 239.

Trailer Released for Plaza’s Zombie-Themed Comedy “Life After Beth”

The first trailer for Life After Beth has been released, starring the 30-year-old half-Puerto Rican actress/comedian as a zombie girlfriend.

Dane DeHaan stars as a teen named Zach, who is heartbroken when his girlfriend Beth (portrayed by Plaza) unexpectedly dies. He gets a second chance to do what he wants when Beth is resurrected using the Old Testament.

Things don’t quite work the way he wants it, as evidenced in the trailer, which shows Beth and Zach dealing with the fact that she;s a zombie and looking less human each time. She destroys a lifeguard tower and even devours a man.

“What do you want from me Zach, I’m a zombie!” Beth yells.

Directed by Jeff Baena, Life After Beth also stars John C. Reilly, Molly Shannon, Anna Kendrick and Matthew Gray Gubler.

The comedy premieres on DirecTV on July 17 and will get a limited theatrical release starting August 15.

The film will also hit NEXT Fest, which takes place in Los Angeles from August 7-10.
