Jhené Aiko Signs Co-Publishing Deal with Warner Chappell Music

Warner Chappell Music has signed a co-publishing deal with the 33-year-old part-Spanish and Dominican American Grammy-nominated artist.

The deal includes all songs created by Aiko from January 2021 until the deal’s end, this includes already released songs like “In the Dark” by Swae Lee and Aiko, “By Yourself” by Ty Dolla $ign ft. Aiko and Mustard, and more.

Leslie Silva to Star in ABC Civil Rights-Themed Limited Series “Women of the Movement”

The 52-year-old Afro-Latina actress has been cast in ABC’s limited series Women of the Movement, which hails from creator-writer Marissa Jo Cerar and a producing team that includes Jay-Z, Will Smith and Aaron Kaplan.

Silva, who will portray Ruby Hurley, joins a cast that includes Chris Butler as Rayfield Mooty, Alex Désert as Dr. Howard, Miles Fowler as Simeon Booker, Tongayi Chirisa as Medgar Evers, Jason Turner as James Hicks, and Daniel Abeles as Chet Packton.

Inspired by the book Emmett Till: The Murder That Shocked the World and Propelled the Civil Rights Movement by Devery S. Anderson, the six-episode limited series is set in 1955. It centers on Mamie Till-Mobley (Adrienne Warren), who risks her life to find justice after her son Emmett (Cedric Joe) is brutally murdered in the Jim Crow South. Unwilling to let Emmett’s murder disappear from the headlines, Mamie chooses to bear her pain on the world stage, emerging as an activist for justice and igniting the Civil Rights movement as we know it today.

Glynn Turman, Chris Coy, Julia McDermott, Carter Jenkins, Tonya Pinkins and Ray Fisher co-star.

Silva’s Ruby Hurley was a famed NAACP activist and leader in the Civil Rights Movement. A lady badass among men, Ruby was fiercely committed to getting justice for Emmett Till.

Silva’s television and film credits include NBC’s Shades of Blue, CW’s In The Dark, Showtime’s Odyssey 5, the Hulu limited series The Looming Tower and the independent film Reversion.

On stage, she starred in the Signature Theatre’s production of Chicago, directed by Joseph Chaikin and Sam Shepard, as well as The Master Builder directed by André Gregory.

The Cuban American actor, best known for his role as tough Colombian cop Carillo on the first two seasons of Netflix’s Narcos, has signed with APA (Agency for the Performing Arts) in all areas.

Compte, who stars as Kevin on Mayans MC, has also starred as high-level drug dealer Diego on the hit Starz series Power, and a season-long arc on From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series.

He’s also appeared on Kevin Can WaitThe Last ShipCSI24Burn NoticeLie To MeSouthland and most recently on the CW’s In The Dark.

On the film side, Compte also recently starred in Den Of Thieves opposite Gerard Butler, and appeared in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.

Dev to Perform at Voodoo Music and Arts Experience

It looks like Dev has finalized her pre-Halloween plans…

The 22-year-old Portuguese & Mexican American electropop singer/songwriter has been added to the lineup for the 2012 Voodoo Music and Arts Experience in New Orleans.

It’s the latest festival for the “In The Dark” singer, who will be performing at Lolapalooza in August.

Dev joins other acts for the event, set for October 26-28, including Grammy Award-winning trio Green Day and Neil Young & Crazy Horse.

Other talent previously announced include The Avett Brothers, Jack White and electronic dance music star Skrillex.

Three-day general admission passes cost $175. Tickets are available via the festival’s website.

For the first time, this year’s festival also will offer on-site camping inside New Orleans’ historic City Park.

Dev to Perform at Lollapalooza 2012

She has skyrocketed to fame following the international success of her single “In The Dark”… And, now Dev is set to perform at one of music’s biggest festivals.

The 22-year-old Portuguese & Mexican American electropop singer and songwriter—who recently hosted mtvU’s Woodie Awards—has signed on to perform at Lollapalooza this summer.

This year’s headliners are three of rock’s biggest names. Recently reunited Black Sabbath will end one of the nights while Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Black Keys will close out the others. Other acts include J. Cole, Florence + The Machine and The Shins.

Los Jaivas

Meanwhile, Los Jaivaswill perform at Lollapalooza as well. Hailing from Chile, the progressive-rock-andino group mixes rock with South American ancestral music.

And At The Drive-In, which was formed in El Paso, TX and plays post-hardcore alternative  music, will also be one of 120 acts taking the stage at the festival this you. Members of the band include lead singer Cedric Bixler-Zavala and guitarist Omar Rodríguez-López who when the band broke up formed the critically acclaimed  and successful Mars Volta group.

Lollapalooza, which takes place in Chicago, will run August 3-5, 2012.

Dev to Co-Host Thsi Weekend’s mtvU Woodie Awards

This weekend, Dev will be sharing the stage with Jersey Shore’s Paul “DJ Pauly D” DelVecchio.

The 22-year-old Portuguese & Mexican American “In The Dark” singer/songwriter—who recently released the music video for her latest single “Kiss My Lips—and DelVecchio will co-host the 8th Annual mtvU Woodie Awards, according to the network.

The half-hour special will feature performances by Santigold, Mac Miller, Steve Aoki and some surprise guests.

“It’s pretty much live, so you can’t slip up and you can’t curse,” DelVecchio told Us Weekly before taping the special during the SXSW Music Festival in Austin, Texas. “It’s pretty cool because I’m actually doing two roles — I’m deejaying and hosting.”

“The Woodies are cool because it’s all about music and I love music. It doesn’t have to do with album sales or most popular people. It has to do with the performances and the music,” he adds. “Some of the greatest people started there. Wiz Khalifa started at the Woodies. Kings of Leon started at the Woodies.”

Dev Releases “Kiss My Lips” Music Video

The 22-year-old Portuguese & Mexican American singer/songwriter—who rose to fame with her hit single “In the Dark,” which peaked at No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart—has released the music video for her latest single “Kiss My Lips.”

Dev, whose legal name is Devin Star Tailes, seduces the camera and sings the lusty lyrics while parading a variety of colorful-painted lip snapshots. Her featured guest, Fabolous, raps while being flanked by two hot-looking ladies.

“Kiss My Lips” is the latest single from Dev’s long-delayed debut album The Night the Sun Came Up, which is set for release in the U.S. on March 26.

“The album is very personal, even like the dancer songs, if you listen to what I’m saying, it’s very personal, but it’s still youthful because I wanted to capture that,” she gushed to PopCrush.

Dev, who gave birth to her first child Emilia Lovely Gorecki on December 9, 2011, plans to embark on a tour to promote the album. She’ll kick it off on March 28 and wrap it up on April 27.

“Even though now I’m embarking on motherhood and marriage and stuff like that it was important for me in this album to reflect the past three years and the journey of everything, and I think the next album will reflect everything I’m going through now, obviously,” she said.
