Enrique Iglesias Releases Latest Album “Final (Vol. 1)”

It’s the final countdown for Enrique Iglesias

The 46-year-old Spanish singer, songwriter, record producer, philanthropist and actor has released his latest album Final (Vol. 1).

Enrique Iglesias Iglesias has released the album seven years after Sex & Love.

Part one of his FINAL album, Iglesias has previously announced could be the first half of his last one.

The 11-track set includes previously released hits that date back to 2015, including the Nicky Jam-assisted “El Perdón,” to his latest summer anthem “Me Pasé” with Farruko.

As for the five never-before-heard tracks on the album, standouts include “Te Fuiste,” a team-up with Myke Towers produced by Ovy on the Drums, and “Pendejo,” released alongside a music video.

“Te Fuiste” starts slow with prickly guitars but quickly builds momentum powered by a reggaeton beat, just in time for Myke Towers’ entrance.

Meanwhile, “Pendejo” finds a regretful Iglesias wanting to rekindle a relationship with a girl who had broken his heart.

According to Iglesias, there will be a second part to FINAL.

“It might be my final album,” Iglesias said during an Instagram Live earlier this month. “It’s not something that I have been thinking about for the past few months. It’s something that I have been thinking about for the past few years. There’s going to be Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, but they’re final. I’m in that moment in my life, that chapter in my life, where I think it’s the right time to put it out and I’ve been thinking about this since 2015.”

Up next, Ovy revealed that he’s beginning to work on Karol G’s fourth studio album, finalizing Micro TDH’s sophomore set, producing for Myke Towers, collaborating with Becky G on the artist side, and thanks to connections at Kobalt, he’s also working with Enrique Iglesias.

“Incredible things are coming,” he assures.

Karol G has another smash on her hands…

The 29-year-old Colombian singer and songwriter has notched her ninth No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart dated February 13, as “Bichota” climbs 5-1.

Karol G

The female anthem pushes to the top thanks to a 23% spike in audience impressions, to 12 million, earned in the week ending February 7, according to MRC Data.

The audience improvement also makes the song just the second No. 1 by a solo woman, unaccompanied by any other artist, to reach No. 1 this decade — and both are by Karol G.

Greatest gainers for the song in the tracking week were: WODA San Juan, P.R. (up 392,000 in audience); WPAT New York (up 347,000); WSKQ New York (up 307,000); and KAMA Houston (up 268,000).

Before “Bichota,” Karol G previously reached the Latin Airplay summit completely solo with “Ay, Dios Mío!” (October 10, 2020), both as a female soloist. She’s also secured a spot at the penthouse seven other times, all via collaborative efforts, dating back to “Mi Cama,” with J Balvin, featuring Nicky Jam. The triple-billed act spent one week atop the ranking in August 2018.

Karol G is the sixth female soloist to reach No. 1 on Latin Airplay with a song unaccompanied by another act since 2010.

Here’s the leaderboard:

Artist, Title, Debut/Peak Date
Gloria Estefan, “Hotel Nacional,” Jan. 14, 2012 (debut)
Paulina Rubio, “Me Gustas Tanto,” Feb. 11, 2012

Meanwhile, on the airplay-, streaming-, digital sales-blended Hot Latin Songs chart, “Bichota” returns to its No. 3 high (4-3), where its spent seven previous weeks.

Ovy on the Drums Teams Up with Karol G & Danny Ocean for New Single “Miedito o Que?”

The Colombian producer-turned-artist has joined voices with Karol G and Danny Ocean for his latest track, “Miedito o Que?

Co-written by all three artists, the track is home to feel-good melodies that fuse Latin pop and urban beats.

According to Danny, the song is meant to “invite all people to start doing the things they say they want to do so that it has relevance between their words and their actions.”

The playful music video, directed by Jose Sagaro of Film Heads in Miami, shows all three artists having the time of their life at a pool party.

Karol G Releases Bossy New Single “Bichota”

Karol G’s back with a bossy new single…

The 29-year-old Colombian singer-songwriter has released the new track “Bichota,” produced with longtime collaborator Ovy on the Drums.

Karol G

Following in the vein of “Tusa” and “Ay DiOs Mio,” Karol G seems to have found her stride with her own brand of languorous reggaetón music; sensual but not overtly sexual, empowering but also feminine.

“Bichota” is a step up from the pleasing but less assertive “Ay DiOs Mio,” both in lyrics and hooks.

From the title, which is often used as street slang referring to men, “Bichota” is less about “empowerment” in the traditional sense, than self-confidence and taking control.

“I feel like a bichota, they all want to break me but don’t know how,” she purrs in the opening, immediately catchy refrain.

Set to sparse keyboards, “Bichota” is successful by virtue of its simplicity. At a time when the word “empowerment” has been bandied around to support every video that features sexualized images of women, here’s one that celebrates body image and attitude without subverting to masculine needs or approval.

Sebastian Yatra & Guaynaa Team Up for “Chica Ideal,” a Remake of Latin Dreams’ Hit Single “Quiero Una Chica”

Sebastian Yatra has found his ideal woman…

For his 26th birthday, the Colombian singer and songwriter decided to celebrate with new music, recruiting his good friend Guaynaa for witty and flirtatious lyrics.

Sebastian Yatra & Guaynaa

Coined “Chica Ideal,” Yatra and Guaynaa have joined voices for a fresh twist on the 2003 hit “Quiero Una Chica” by Latin Dreams.

“I’m in love with every single part of the song,” Yatra tells Billboard. “It was worth taking the risk because the original song is pure joy and happiness and has that touch of nostalgia that takes you back to your best days.”

Produced by Ovy on the Drums, Yatra elaborates on why Guaynaa was the best fit for this collaboration. “I went to one of his showcases during Premio Lo Nuestro, and his energy onstage drove me crazy. His vibe, his originality. I had to work with him,” he expressed. “It’s so amazing to do this song in the way we did it and the way Guaynaa sings in it.”

In the music video, Yatra and Guaynaa are seen playing basketball in the year 2020 with a group of people wearing masks. After losing the ball and searching for it in the woods, they wind up at a lit pool party (pandemic-free) in the year 2021.

The release of “Chica Ideal” marks a new stage in Yatra’s personal life and career, which he says have evolved because of the global health crisis. “When I sum up my year, I think it’s all been very positive if you look at it from the right perspective,” he concludes.
