Lopez to Perform at This Year’s iHeartRadio Fiesta Latina

Jennifer Lopez is ready for a Fiesta…

The 46-year-old Puerto Rican singer, actress and American Idol judge has been added to the lineup for this year’s iHeartRadio Fiesta Latina in Miami.

J.Lo joins a roster that includes her frequent collaborators Pitbull and Prince Royce, with whom she worked with on his recent single “Back It Up.”

The event will be held at the American Airlines Arena on Nov. 7, with a video live stream on Yahoo Live and broadcast on iHeartMedia Spanish-Pop, Tropical, regional Mexican and Spanish Adult Hit radio stations across the U.S.

The show will also have a television re-broadcast via Telemundo on November 15.

Other acts announced include Don OmarMarco Antonio SolisWisinCamila, Becky GFonseca and Voz de Mando.

“For the first time ever Latin music fans will be able to experience the iHeartRadio Fiesta Latina everywhere, from the radio, live video stream and broadcast television,” said President of Entertainment Enterprises and Producer, iHeartMedia John Sykes in a statement. “The fans demanded it, so we have made the show available virtually everywhere they turn.”

Tickets go on sale to the general public on August 22.

Voz de Mando Earns First No. 1 Single on the Billboard Latin Airplay Chart

The Latin Grammy-nominated Mexican Regional music group has earned its first No. 1 on the pan-genre Billboard Latin Airplay chart as “Levantando Polvadera” rises 3-1.

The song is the act’s ninth chart entry dating back to 2010

The song remains at No. 1 for a fourth consecutive week on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Airplay chart, the act’s second career crowning hit on that chart.

J Balvin to Participate in the 2014 Latin Grammy Street Party Concerts

J Balvin is taking it to the streets to get the Latin Grammy party started…

The 29-year-old Colombian reggaeton singer, whose full name is José Álvaro Osorio Balvín, is among the musicians who will participate in the Latin Recording Academy’s 2014 Latin Grammy street party concerts, which kick off on October 5 in Chicago’s Plaza Garibaldi.

Balvin, who was featured on the Colombian version of “Blurred Lines” by Robin Thicke featuring Pharrell Williams & T.I., is best known for his songs “Yo Te Lo Dije” and “Tranquila.”

The Latin Grammy street parties have been held for the past 12 years and are presented by the Latin Academy (LARAS), together with Univision.

In addition to Balvin, artists confirmed to perform during the series, which will be played in five cities, include Conjunto Primavera, J Alvarez, Los Rieleros del Norte, Los Tucanes de Tijuana, Noel Torres and Voz de Mando.

Along with a stop in Chicago, the series will also visit Dallas, Los Angeles and Phoenix before wrapping up in Hialeah (Miami) on November 9 with performances by Balvin, Alvarez and Victoria, among others, in the streets of Hialeah.

The Latin Grammy Street parties are free and lead up to the 15th annual Latin Grammys, airing live on November 20 on Univision from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Amaya to Host the 2013 Billboard Mexican Music Awards

Rafael Amaya will help celebrate Mexico’s best musicians next month…

The 36-year-old Mexican actor, model and singer will co-host the 2013 Billboard Mexican Music Awards with Cuban actress Aylín Mujica on October 9, live from the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles.

The Billboard Mexican Music Awards are the only awards show on a major network that celebrates Mexican music, and this year’s hosts reflect the close contact that exists between the show and its music and fans.

Amaya, one of Latino film and television’s top actors, most recently played the lead in record-setting series El Señor de los Cielos and also played the role of El Guero Dávila in La Reina del Sur. He has previously co-hosted the Billboard Latin Music Awards.

Mujica, on her end, is one of the most established actresses in Latin television and starred in the telenovelas Corazón Valiente and Aurora. She has also co-hosted the Billboard Latin Music Awards in past years.

Finalists for the 2013 Billboard Mexican Music Awards vie for top honors in 32 categories, including Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Artist of the Year-New, Digital Download Artist of the Year, Airplay Artist of the Year, and various categories for Banda, Norteño, Ranchero/Mariachi and Duranguense/Grupero/Cumbia Music.

The list of finalists is led by Gerardo Ortiz, the late Jenni Rivera, La Arrolladora Banda el Limon de Rene Camacho, Roberto Tapia, Voz de Mando, Banda El Recodo de Cruz Lizarraga, Calibre 50, 3BallMTY and Joan Sebastian.

The Billboard Mexican Music Awards will air live on Telemundo on October 9.

Ortiz Earns 14 Billboard Mexican Music Awards Nominations

Gerardo Ortiz is this year’s king of Mexican Music…

The 23-year-old Mexican American norteño singer leads the list of finalists for the for the third annual Billboard Mexican Music Awards, which will air live on Telemundo on October 9 at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood.

Ortiz earned 14 nods in 13 categories, highlighting his overwhelming success in every arena of the business, from album sales and digital downloads to airplay and songwriting.

Ortiz is nominated for Artist of the year, Songs Artist of the Year, Airplay Artist of the Year, Digital Download Artist of the Year, Albums Artist of the Year and Songwriter and Producer of the Year, among other categories.

In the Norteño Album of the Year category, his El Primer Ministro will compete against another of his own albums, Sold Out: En Vivo Desde El NOKIA Theatre L.A. Live.

Right behind Ortiz in number of nods is the late Jenni Rivera, a 10-time finalist in eight categories thanks to the huge surge of sales following her death last December.

Rivera’s finalist nods include Artist of the Year; Artist of the Year, Female; Albums Artist of the Year, Songs Artist of the Year and Digital Download Artist of the Year.

Two of her albums, La Misma Gran Señora and Joyas Prestadas are vying for Album of the Year and Banda Album of the Year.

The list of top finalists, which also include banda star Roberto Tapia, norteño trio Voz de Mando, Banda El Recodo de Cruz Lizárraga, Calibre 50, 3BallMTY and Joan Sebastian, represent the diverse nature of regional Mexican music, which has long been the top-selling genre of Latin music in the U.S.

Next up, La Arrolladora Banda el Limón de René Camacho, the super-popular traditional banda known for registering massive radio hits. The group will vie for seven awards, including Artist of the Year; Artist of the Year, Duo or Group; Songs Artist of the Year; Airplay Artist of the Year and Banda Artist of the Year. Their song “Cabecita Dura” from their hit album Irreversible is a finalist for Song of the Year and Banda Song of the Year.

The Billboard Mexican Music Awards are given in 32 award categories—including honors in the subgenres of Banda, Norteño, ranchero/mariachi and duranguense/grupero/cumbia—as well as awards for top labels and publishers.

Finalists and winners are determined by chart performance as chronicled in Billboard magazine and on Billboard.com during the eligibility period of August 18, 2012 through August 10, 2013. Award categories are based on album and digital track sales data provided by Nielsen SoundScan and radio airplay monitored by Nielsen BDS.
