Among women, only Selena has more No. 1 albums, with seven leaders.

Universal Music Latin Entertainment to Release New Jenni Rivera Album

Jenni Rivera may be gone, but her voice lives on with new music…

The late Mexican-American singer will be heard once more on a new album, which is set to go on sale on November 17 under the title 1 Vida – 3 Historias, according to her record label Universal Music Latin Entertainment.

Jenni Rivera

The record company offered no further details about the production, but Rosie Rivera, the singer’s sister, said last October on her Instagram account that the album will feature songs recorded during a concert the late La Diva de la Banda gave in Culiacan, Mexico.

The singer died in a plane crash along with another six people in Nuevo Leon, Mexico, on Dec. 9, 2012, hours after giving her last concert in the city of Monterrey.

A year after her death, the family of the Mexican regional music artist launched 1969-Siempre, en Vivo desde Monterrey, a live recording in two parts of the singer’s repertoire during that last performance.

Both discs were hits in sales and reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart.

Valenzuela’s Latest Album Reaches No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums Chart

Remmy Valenzuela is standing tall on the Billboard charts…

The 23-year-old regional Mexican newcomer claims the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums with De Alumno A Maestro, selling 3,000 first-week copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Valenzuela, known as El Muchacho De La Voz Ronca (The Boy with the Husky Voice), also bullets at its No. 6 peak to date on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Songs with “Te Toco Perder” (5.6 million audience impressions, according to Nielsen BDS).

Last year, he reached No. 32 on the chart with “Te Olvidare,” the title track from his debut album.

Valenzuela started his short musical career at the age of 12 in a group called Los Estudents. By age 13, he was teaching music at his school. Despite his young age, he has shared stages with Los Tucanes De Tijuana, Código FN, Chuy Lizárraga, La Arrolladora Banda El Limón and the late Jenni Rivera.

Rivera to Perform New Single at This Year’s Premios Juventud

Chiquis Rivera is ready to take center stage with new music…

The Mexican-American reality television star and singer, the daughter of the late Jenni Rivera, will premiere a new single from her upcoming album on Univision’s Premios Juventud on July 17.

Chiquis Rivera

Premios Juventud awards the best in film, music, sports, fashion and pop culture. Rivera is nominated for pop culture favorite, favorite music video, best artist who communicates with fans on social media and song you can’t get out of year head.

In January, Rivera released “Paloma Blanca, which she dedicated to her late mother. The YouTube video has garnered more than 2.3 million views and Rivera, who frequently posts on social media, has more than half a million followers on Twitter and more than 600,000 followers on Instagram. She also has a web series about her life.

In the song that you can’t get out of your head category, Rivera is up against Prince Royce and Romeo Santos (featuring Drake).

“I’m excited, I’m nervous,” Chiquis says of her nominations. “I definitely feel the pressure, but I work well under pressure. It’s a huge blessing. It’s so humbling … I owe it to my mom and I own it to the fans. I’ll be on stage for the very first time. It’s a huge stage. I’m going to give it my all.”

Rivera’s mother, frequently on the Billboard charts, died in a plane crash on Dec. 9 of 2012, while working in Mexico. Chiquis says that she has always been interested in singing, but put those plans on hold until now.

Rivera is scheduled to perform a song she penned. In her web series, Rivera has made it clear that she wants to record an album. Mexican pop star Gloria Trevi recently provided Rivera with advice on the music business as seen on the web series Chiquis Confidential.

“I don’t want to look back in life and say and think, ‘I should have done this or that,’ ” Rivera said in an interview with Billboard. “My mom never gave up and I can’t either.”

Anthony Wins All Three Latin Prizes at the Billboard Music Awards

It’s a clean sweep for Marc Anthony

The 45-year-old Puerto Rican salsa and pop singer swept the Latin music categories at this year’s 2014 Billboard Music Awards.

Marc Anthony

It’s a high point for Anthony, in a year that has seen him receive awards and accolades for his salsa comeback album 3.0, and the smash hit single “Vivir Mi Vida.” The track spent 17 weeks at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Hot Latin Songs chart — a record for 2014.

Anthony received the BBMAs’ Top Latin Artist award, beating out Romeo Santos, Mexican Regional singer/songwriter Gerardo Ortiz, Prince Royce, and the late Jenni Rivera.

Meanwhile, “3.0” and “Vivir Mi Vida” won the best Latin Album and Best Latin Song awards, respectively. Anthony did not appear on the BBMAs televised broadcast.

Rivera Launches Online Mini-Series “Chiquis Confidential”

Chiquis Rivera is so confidential

The Mexican American daughter of the late Jenni Rivera launched an online mini-series that crashed moments after going live.

Chiquis Rivera

The debut of Chiquis Confidential was so strong that chiquisonline.com went down moments before the start of the four-minute premiere at 3:00 pm PT on Tuesday.

“It’s a good thing,” said Richard Bull of The Sixth House, who manages Rivera. “That’s what happens when a server gets hit that very second. Everything becomes affected.”

But Rivera’s fans didn’t need to worry because they were eventually able watch the premiere episode online.

Chiquis Confidential can be seen on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays for 16 weeks. A total of 48 episodes will air and can also be seen via Twitter, Facebook and, once the series is completed, it will also live on YouTube.

Earlier this year, Rivera released “Paloma Blanca,” a banda-themed song dedicated to her mother, who died in December 2012 when her small plane crashed after a performance in Northern Mexico.

The song was also posted on the ChiquisOnline channel. Two official videos of the song combined have received about 4 million views.

At the recent BMI Latin Awards show in Las Vegas, Rivera told Billboard that she was definitely going to pursue a recording career and is actively working on a new album. The new online mini-series will chronicle the entertainer as she makes music, Bull said.

Rivera is no stranger to the spotlight as she’s had her own reality show on cable network Mun2 and in recent years has expressed interest in fashion, beauty and entertainment. In 2013, she was a guest host on ABC‘s The View, where she sat with Barbara Walters and talked about her mother, career and life.

Rivera also wrote the song for her new series, which will be heard on each episode. During the premiere episode, which is produced by Bull as well, the singer talks about why she launched the series.

“I’ve come to realize that sharing my feelings with others is helping me heal the wound that I don’t think I’ll ever completely get over, but I do want to start that process,” Rivera said.

Chiquis Releases “Paloma Blanca,” a Song Dedicated to Her Late Mother Jenni Rivera

Janney “Chiquis” Rivera is honoring the memory of her late mother through music…

The Mexican American singer/reality television star, the daughter of La Diva de la Banda Jenni Rivera, has premiered on YouTube a song entitled “Paloma Blanca.”

Chiquis Rivera Paloma Blanca

Rivera’s banda-themed song is dedicated to her mother who died in 2012 when her small plane crashed while on business in Mexico.

“Paloma Blanca,” which means “White Dove” in English, was posted to the ChiquisOnline channel on YouTube, which is normally reserved for Chiquis’ fashion tips.

Chiquis sent news of the new song out to her 477,000 followers on Twitter, writing, “Available #palomablanca #chiquispalomablanca on my official channel on YouTube.”

The song, presented with lyrics, opens with the words, “Sweet Sound Records presents Chiquis.” An image of Chiquis appears next; she’s wearing a white dress and looking at the white clouds in the sky.

The song’s opening begins with, “You don’t know how much I miss you … today I miss your laugh. From a star, you take care of me.”

Like her mother, Chiquis performs the song in her iconic banda style, which incorporates brass instruments to give the composition a specific sound in a genre that’s popular in Mexico and the U.S.
