Mars Earns Two MTV Europe Music Award Nominations

Bruno Mars has a date with the MTV EMAs…

The 27-year-old part-Puerto Rican singer has earned two MTV Europe Music Award nominations, the most of any Latino artist this year.

Mars, who won his first-ever Moonman at the MTV Video Music Awards last month, is nominated in the Best Song category for his No. 1 hit single “Locked Out Of Heaven.”

He’s also up for Best Male, where he’s up against Eminem, Jay Z, Justin Bieber and Justin Timberlake.

But Mars isn’t the only Latino artist to earn an at least one MTV EMA nomination…

Selena Gomez, who also won the first Moonman of her career at the MTV VMAs in August, is nominated for Best Female. She’s up against Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift

The 2013 MTV EMA will be shown on MTV at 9pm on Sunday November 10 and broadcast live from Amsterdam’s Ziggo Dome.

Gomez Wins Her First-Ever Moonman at the MTV VMAs…

There’s no doubt Selena Gomez is over the moon(man) tonight…

The 21-year-old half-Mexican American singer/actress claimed the first Moonman of her career at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, broadcast live Sunday night from Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.

Gomez’s “Come & Get It” video beat out Bruno Mars’ “Locked Out of Heaven,” Justin Timberlake’s “Mirrors,”
fun.’s “Carry On”
and Miley Cyrus’ “We Can’t Stop” in the Best Pop Video category.

Gomez, who was nominated last year for Best Female Video for her inescapable hit “Love You Like a Love Song,” lost out to One Direction’s “Best Song Ever” in the Best Song of the Summer category.

Meanwhile, Bruno Mars batted .500 at the MTV VMAs on Sunday night.

The 27-year-old part-Puerto Rican singer-songwriter, nominated for four awards, won the Best Male Video prize for his “Locked Out of Heaven” clip, beating out Justin Timberlake, Robin Thicke feat. T.I. and Pharrell, Ed Sheeran and Kendrick Lamar.

Mars also took home the prize for Best Choreography for the slick dance moves in the music video for his latest single “Treasure.”

Isaac’s “Inside Llewyn Davis” to be Screened at the AFI Fest

Oscar Isaac will be the closing act at the AFI Fest

The 33-year-old Guatemalan and Cuban American actor’s latest film, the Coen Brothers’ Inside Llewyn Davis, will be the screened during the AFI Fest’s Closing Night Gala on Thursday, November 14.

Isaac’s film, which co-stars Carey Mulligan, John Goodman, Garrett Hedlund and Justin Timberlake, won the Grand Prix when it premiered at the Cannes Film Festival back in May.

The film follows a week in the life of a young folk singer as he navigates the Greenwich Village folk scene of 1961.

Inside Llewyn Davis will also be screened at the New York Film Festival and be the center of a concert benefit later this year.

CBS Films will release the film in theaters starting December 6.

Mars to Perform at This Year’s MTV Video Music Awards

The 27-year-old part-Puerto Rican singer will join Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga, Kanye West, Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke as a performer at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards.

Mars, currently on a world tour to promote his sophomore album Unorthodox Jukebox, will unveil a new single at the VMAs.

He’s nominated in four categories this year, including Video of the Year, Best Pop Video, and Best Male Video for “Locked Out of Heaven,” and Best Choreography for “Treasure.” This is his third performance on MTV Video Music Awards.

This will mark his third time performing on the MTV Video Music Awards.

The show airs from Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on August 25 at 9:00 pm ET.

Trailer Released for Vazquez’s New Film with Tom Hanks “Captain Phillips”

Yul Vazquez will soon be hitting the high seas with Tom Hanks

The Cuban American actor, who currently appears on Starz’s Magic City, is starring as Captain Frank Castellano in the Hanks-headlined film Captain Phillips, which has been named the opening-night film at the prestigious New York Film Festival next month.

Directed by Paul Greengrass, the Sony Pictures film tells the true story of Captain Richard Phillips (portrayed by Hanks) and the 2009 hijacking by Somali pirates of the US-flagged MV Maersk Alabama.

Phillips was eventually rescued in a dangerous mission by a Navy SEAL team.

Along with Hanks and Vazquez, the film also stars Catherine Keener, Max Martini, Michael Chernus, Chris Mulkey, John Magaro and Angus MacInnes.

Captain Phillips is set to hit theaters on October 11.

Vazquez’s other upcoming projects include Runner Runner with Ben Affleck and Justin Timberlake, Blood Ties with Mila Kunis, Clive Owen and Marion Cotillard and Kill The Messenger directed by Michael Cuesta opposite Jeremy Renner.

 

Princess Letizia Named to Vanity Fair’s International Best-Dressed List

Kate Middleton isn’t the only best-dressed royal… Spain’s Letizia, Princess of Asturias, is giving the British royal a style run for her money.

The 40-year-old Spanish royal – the wife of Felipe, Prince of Asturias, the heir apparent to the Spanish throne – has been named to Vanity Fair‘s International Best-Dressed List of 2013.

Born Letizia Ortiz Rocasolano, the former journalist and news anchor joins a stellar list of stylish celebrities, including Middleton, Carmen Dell’Orefice, Tory Burch, Victoria Beckham, LeBron James and Justin Timberlake.

Princess Letizia, known for wearing designers like Felipe Varela, Max Mara and Hugo Boss, was noted by the magazine for the blue lace Varela gown, matching heels by Margriet, and Maria Nieto hat, that she wore at the inauguration of King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands.

Mars’ iHeartRadio Music Festival Performance to Air on the CW

Bruno Mars will be rockin’ the CW this fall…

The CW has announced plans to broadcast performances from this year’s iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas, which will feature a live performance by the 27-year-old part-Puerto Rican singer.

The CW will use the concert special to kick off its official television season.

The network will broadcast the fesival as a four-hour special over two nights, September 30 and October1.

The special will focus on Clear Channel’s two-day concert event, which will take place on the weekend of September 20 and 21.

Along with Mars, this year’s festival will include performances by Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry, J. Cole, Elton John, Muse, Keith Urban, fun., Miguel, Maroon 5, Tim McGraw, Miley Cyrus, The Wanted, Avril Lavigne, Ke$ha and others who are still to be determined.

In addition, Mars’s “Locked Out of Heaven” is nominated for Best Male Video, Best Pop Video, as well as Best Choreography for his latest single Treasure.”

Other Latino nominees include Pitbull, Miguel, Jennifer Lopez, Christina Aguilera, Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato.

 

Fans can now vote in general VMA categories, including video of the year and artist to watch at vma.mtv.com.

Brooklyn’s Barclays Center hosts the VMAs for the first time on Sunday, August 25.

All winners on the big night will also take home a limited-edition KAWS Moonman.

Mars to Perform at This Year’s iHeartRadio Music Festival

Bruno Mars will be singing his heart out this September…

The 27-year-old part-Puerto Rican singer will perform at this year’s iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas.

Now in its third year, the festival has quickly become a home to a who’s who of artists across all radio formats.

Mars, currently on a world tour to promote his sophomore album, joins a lineup that includes Miguel, Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry, Elton John and a special pairing of Queen with Adam Lambert.

The two-day festival will be held on September 20 and 21 at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Arena, with a first-time Fan Village set to run during the day at a 15-acre parking lot adjacent to the arena. That space will be free to ticketholders and will feature performances from Miley Cyrus, Avril Lavigne, AWOLNATION and Jason Derulo.

The main festival lineup was announced Monday morning in a press conference hosted by Ryan Seacrest.

The 2012 iHeartRadio played host to several impromptu duets and collaborations, including a kickoff performance of No Doubt joined by P!nk for “Just A Girl” and more.

Latest Trailer Released for Isaac’s “Inside Llewyn Davis”

CBS Films has released the latest trailer for the critically acclaimed Inside Llewyn Davis, starring Oscar Isaac.

The 33-year-old Guatemalan and Cuban American actor stars as a struggling musician meandering through New York City’s 1960s folk scene in the Joel and Ethan Coen-directed film, which earned the Grand Prix award at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
