The next round of artists set for Billboard’s Billboard Live At-Home series, with the 37-year-old Puerto Rican singer and songwriter making the list, will provide a wide variety of sounds for the homebound nation as the world waits for the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown to end.
The performances for the week of May 4 will feature at-home sets from García, Milky Chance, Princess Nokiaand Cheat Codes via Billboard‘s Facebook page.
García will kick things off on Monday with a set at 1:00 pm ET.
For their mini-concerts, each artist will team up with Billboard to raise money for a nonprofit partner of their choice, as well as answer questions submitted by fans watching from home.
Miguel is preparing for Latin music’s biggest night…
The 34-year-old Mexican American R&B singer, songwriter, who released the Spanish EP Te Lo Dije earlier this year, is set to perform at this year’s Latin Grammys, according to The Latin Recording Academy.
Miguel is part ofthe final wave of performers and presenters joining the star-studded 2019 Latin Grammys lineup.
In addition to Miguel, who performed “Remember Me” with Natalia Lafourcade on the soundtrack to Disney’s Dia de los Muertos-themed animated film Coco, new additions to the performers roster include Alicia Keys, Farruko, Ozuna, Residente, Beto Cuevas, Calibre 50, Leonel García, Fito Páez, Milly Quezada, Tony Succar, Carlos Rivera, and Prince Royce.
Plus, Ángela Aguilar, Eduardo “Visitante” Cabra,Sofia Carson, Emilio Estefan, Mon Laferte, William Levy, Rudy Mancuso,,Luis Gerardo Méndez, Michael Peña, and Dayanara Torres join as presenters.
Nominees Camilo, De La Ghetto, Paula Fernandes, Kany García, Christian Nodal and Tommy Torres were previously announced as presenters.
Coined as “the biggest night in Latin Music,” the awards show will kick off with a never-before-seen tribute honoring the 20th Anniversary of the Latin Grammys. A group of 20 artists, who’ll perform together for the first time, will interpret multiple iconic songs spanning various genres of Latin music while commemorating the past 20 years of excellence.
The final roster of performers join already confirmed artists Aitana, Anitta, Pedro Capó, Julio Reyes Copello, Darell, Dimelo Flow, Fonseca, Luis Fonsi, Greeicy, Intocable, Nella, Reik, Rosalía, and Alejandro Sanz, who’s this year’s top nominee.
The awards show will also include performances by Pepe Aguilar and Los Angeles Azules, Paula Arenas, Bad Bunny, Alessia Cara, Draco Rosa, Ximena Sariñana, Sech, Sebastián Yatra, Natalia Jiménez, Olga Tañón and Juanes, who as the 2019 Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year will perform a medley of his biggest hits.
Vicente, Alejandro, and Alex Fernandezwill also take the stage, becoming the first time all three generations of the Fernandez family will perform at the show. They’ll be joined by Mariachi Sol de Mexico.
The 20th annual Latin Grammys, which will be co-hosted by Ricky Martin and actresses Roselyn Sánchez and Paz Vega, will air live Nov. 14 from the MGM Grand Garden Arenain Las Vegas via Univision.
The Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame has announced its honorees for the 2019 La Musa Awards, with the 26-year-oldPuerto Rican singer and songwriter making the list.
Garcia, a three-time Latin Grammy winner, will be awarded the Elena Casals La Musa Award.
Garcia has penned all the songs for her albums. And she’s also written songs for other artists like Ha*Ash, Ednita Nazario, Pedro Capó, Fabiola and Chayanne.
José José, referred to as El Príncipe de la Canción, will receive the Living Legend Award, The 71-year-old Mexican crooner, who began his musical career in his early teens, has released more than 30 albums, his last Tenampa in 2001.
Jesús López, chairman & CEO for Universal Music Latin Americaand the Iberian Peninsula, will receive the Desi Arnaz Pioneer Award, while music executive Nestor Casonuwill be honored with the Ralph S. Peer Publisher Award.
Additional honorees will be announced in the upcoming weeks.
In addition to unveiling the first wave of honorees, LSHOF has also announced that Spotify is returning as the official title sponsor of the awards ceremony. According to an official statement, the “continuing partnership aligns with Spotify’s unparalleled commitment to supporting and highlighting Latin music and songwriters on its global platform.”
In May, Ivy Queen, Willie Colón, Michael Sullivan, Chico Novarro, and Armando Larrinaga were announced as the five songwriters who will be inducted at the prestigious hall this year.
The 2019 group of inductees, which were selected by the general public from a previously announced list of 24 nominated songwriters and composers, is comprised of some of the greatest performers, lyricists, and musicians in Latin music today.
The 2019 honorees will be officially inducted at the seventh annual La Musa Awards ceremony and gala, taking place October 24 at the James L. Knight Centerin Miami.

It looks like Kany Garcia and Ozuna are giving Puerto Ricans a Christmas to remember…
Banco Popular’s annual Christmastime album Nuestra Isla, Nuestro Encanto, featuring the 36-year-old Puerto Rican singer-songwriter and the 25-year-old Puerto Rican reggaeton and Latin trap singer surges up Billboard’s Top Latin Albums (45-5) and Tropical Albums (9-2) charts.
The album has registered 3,000 equivalent album units earned (up 350 percent) — nearly all from traditional album sales.
The set (which was also released as a separate DVD) celebrates the many festivals, carnivals and events throughout Puerto Rico, and was produced over the last year.
The album includes many guest stars, including Diana Fuentes, Garcia, Vicente Garcia, Ozuna, Rey Ruiz and Olga Tañon.
Some of the proceeds from the sales of the album and DVD will support the Embracing Puerto Rico relief effort, supporting communities affected by Hurricane Maria.
Last year’s Banco popular album, Du Puerto Rico Para El Mundo, spent three weeks at No. 1 on both the Top Latin Albums and Latin Pop Albums charts.
After a two year absence, the Puerto Rican singer/songwriter is releasing her new single “Ron de Azucar,” exclusively on Billboard.
The song, written by Sofia and Kany Garcia, is high on Caribbean rhythms.
“It’s about when you think you have everything under control and you’re with someone just to have fun,” Sofia tells Billboard. “You’re not going to fall in love, and then you realize that you’re falling in love.”
“Ron de Azucar” is the first single of Sofía’s second album which is expected to be released later this year.
With this song she marks a great transition in her life. The singer is not only premiering a song but, also a new image, haircut and attitude.
“2015 was one of the best years of my life, but at the same time I was having a bad time. I was fulfilling my dreams, I had a Latin Grammy nomination, a lot of amazing things going on, but my personal life was collapsed,” she said.
The 35-year-old Puerto Rican singer-songwriter picked up her first-ever prize GLAAD Media Award, at a special ceremony at the Beverly Hilton.
Garcia, who declared herself a lesbian in 2016, was named Outstanding Music Artist for her album Limonada, which she used to officially come out as a lesbian.
Garcia’s album has much in common with Beyonce‘s Lemonade album, in that it “highlights feminine power and helps break certain barriers,” commented the singer in an interview with Uforia.
Gema Corredera received a Special Recognition Award for the Cuban singer’s “Sin Ir Más Lejos” music video.
The 2017 GLAAD Media Awards will air on Logo on April 6 at 10:00 PM ET/PT. Additional awards will be presented at the GLAAD Media Awards event at the New York Hilton Midtown in New York on Saturday, May 6.

The 34-year-old Puerto Rican singer-songwriter will perform at the 25th annual ASCAP Latin Music Awards.
Garcia, a two-time Latin Grammy winner, including Best New Artist in 2008, joins a lineup of confirmed performers that includes Jacob Forever, Noel Schajris, Joss Favela and Silverio Lozada.
The awards ceremony will take place at the Vanderbilt Hotel in Condado in Puerto Rico on March 15.
This year, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers will honor iconic salsa group El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico and singer/songwriter Vico C during the ceremony hosted by José Santana.
El Gran Combo will be honored with the ASCAP Latin Heritage Award in recognition of their “unique and enduring contributions to Latin music” while urban music pioneer Vico C will receive the ASCAP Vanguard Award.
ASCAP will also present accolades to songwriter of the year, singer/songwriter of the year, publisher of the year, independent publisher of the year and Latin song of the year.
Last year, the annual awards show was hosted at the Ritz Carlton in South Beach, Miami, with standout performances by Natalia Lafourcade, Favela, who became the youngest-ever songwriter of the year winner, and Gente de Zona.
Following the success of her dancetastic debut single “Muévelo,” featuring Wisin, the 19-year-old Mexican singer has released “Conmigo (Rest of Your Life).”
The easy, breezy, beautiful bilingual pop record with an R&B sensibility is bound to gain traction throughout the late spring/summer.
A cross-cultural collaboration, the song was written and produced by Romanian singer/songwriter Smiley, Nuyorican Edwin ‘Lil’ Eddie’ Serrano (whose credits include Usher and Janet Jackson, and Reyes, who is the first artist signed to Prince Royce’s label D’Leon Records in collaboration with Warner Music.

The 28-year-old Puerto Rican singer will be heading to Colombia later this month to perform in cities like Bogota, Cali, Bucaramanga, Barranquilla and Cartagena. He’ll then make his way to Venezuela for more appearances.
Daniel secured the chance to perform in the South American countries thanks in part to the success of his song “Un pedacito de cielo,” from his latest album Todo lo que tengo.
“Since I came out with ‘Un pedacito de cielo’ I knew that this song would be a Latin American success,” said Daniel, who launched his professional career at 17 when he recorded his first demo with veteran backup singer and vocal coach Socky Torres. “The expectations in Colombia are pretty high.”
The musician credits the popularity of his latest single, written by Kany Garcia, to “its melody and catchy rhythm” prepared by Colombian musical producer Andres Castro.
Daniel’s follow-up to his successful self-titled debut album, Todo lo que tengo, was recently released.
