ABC has given a Season 5 pickup to its legal thriller drama How to Get Away With Murder, starring the 32-year-old actress.

The renewal of the Shondaland drama was fully expected.

HTGAWM is the second longest-running Shondaland series, and it’s well received, earning lead star Viola Davis top awards including an Emmy.

Additionally, while a modest Live+Same Day performer (average 0.94 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.70 million viewers in Season 4, down by 28% and by 20%, respectively, compared to Season 3), it continues to be a big DVR gainer. Its Live+7 tally for Season 4 was 6.4 million viewers and a 2.0 in 18-49, ranking as ABC’s third highest-rated drama in the demo behind Grey’s Anatomy and The Good Doctor

Starring Davis, Souza, Billy Brown, Jack Falahee, Aja Naomi King, Matt McGorry, Conrad Ricamora, Charlie Weber and Liza WeilHow To Get Away With Murder revolves around the world of Middleton University Professor Annalise Keating (Davis). Murder, deception, fear and guilt bind her to her longtime associates and students. As the group struggles to move on following the death of one of their own, their past continues to haunt them.

How To Get Away With Murder is created and executive produced by Pete Nowalk, who also serves as showrunner.

ABC Picks Up Ana Ortiz’s Dramedy “Whiskey Cavalier” to Series

ABC has picked up to series Whiskey Cavalier, starring the 47-year-old half-Puerto Rican actress and former Ugly Betty star.

Whiskey Cavalier is a high-octane, hour-long action dramedy that follows the adventures of tough but tender FBI super-agent Will Chase (codename: “Whiskey Cavalier”), played by Scott Foley. Following an emotional break-up, Chase is assigned to work with badass CIA operative Francesca “Frankie” Trowbridge (codename: “Fiery Tribune”), played by Lauren Cohan. Together, they lead an inter-agency team of flawed, funny and heroic spies who periodically save the world (and each other) while navigating the rocky roads of friendship, romance and office politics. The series is from writer/executive producer Dave Hemingson and executive producer Bill Lawrence with Warner Bros. Television.

Ortiz portrays Susan Sampson.

ABC Picks Up Roselyn Sanchez’s “Grand Hotel” to Series

ABC has picked up the drama Grand Hotel, starring the 45-year-old Puerto Rican actress and former Devious Maids star, to series.

Executive produced by Eva Longoria, the series also stars Mexican actor and Oscar nominee Demian Bichir.

Based on the Spanish series Gran Hotel, the bold, provocative drama is set at the last family-owned hotel in multicultural Miami Beach. Charismatic Santiago Mendoza owns the hotel, while his glamorous second wife, Gigi, and their adult children enjoy the spoils of success. The hotel’s loyal staff round out a contemporary, fresh take on an upstairs/downstairs story. Wealthy and beautiful guests bask in luxury, but scandals, escalating debt and explosive secrets hide beneath the picture-perfect exterior.

In addition to Bichir as Santiago Mendoza and Sanchez as Gigi Mendoza, the series also stars Denyse Tontz, Bryan Craig, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Lincoln Younes, Shalim Ortiz, Anne Winters, Chris Warren, Feliz Ramirez and Justina Adorno.

Ken Olin directed the pilot, with the series being produced by ABC Studios.

Cara Santana to Star in the Indie “Be The Light”

Cara Santana has found her Light

The 33-year-old Latina actress will star in the indie film Be The Light (working title).

Directed and co-starring Malcolm Goodwin, the story follows Celina (Santana) who, estranged from her father for nine years, discovers that he’s dying from cancer. Celina decides to go home to repair their relationship and fight for her father’s right for proper care. In the process, she reconnects with her old friend Marvin (Goodwin), a former OG who is trying to turn the page and do some good for his community. Through their connection, Celina finds that spark in herself that she had lost, and together they lift her dad and the community around them.

The script was penned by Victor Hawks.

Santana is currently working on the upcoming film Steps, which she wrote and will appear in opposite Jesse Metcalfe, who is also directing.

Her other credits include appearances on Netflix’s The Santa Clarita Diet and WGN’s Salem.

Filming is scheduled to commence this month.

Andy Garcia to Star in “Words On Bathroom Walls”

Andy Garcia is taking a bathroom break…

The 62-year-old Cuban actor has been cast in LD Entertainment’s Words On Bathroom Walls from director Thor Freudenthal.

Garcia joins a cast that includes Charlie Plummer, Taylor Russell, AnnaSophia Robb, Walton Goggins and Molly Parker.

Based on Julia Walton’s debut novel, the story follows the character of Adam (Plummer) as he tries to navigate high school life while living with paranoid schizophrenia and battling wild hallucinations. Luckily, an experimental drug trial promises to help hide his illness from his peers and most importantly from Maya, the girl of his dreams.

Garcia will portray Father Patrick, the kind and unexpectedly witty priest at the private high school Adam attends.

Nick Naveda wrote the screenplay.

Garcia will next appear in the films Book Club and Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.

Enrique Iglesias Releases Sizzling Video for His New Single “Move to Miami,” Featuring Pitbull

Enrique Iglesias is soakin’ up the sun in style…

The 43-year-old Spanish superstar has released the official music video for his latest single “Move to Miami,” featuring Pitbull.

The video, which features the streets of Miami at night, begins with Iglesias driving a sports car and meeting a dancer who enthralls him after doing dance moves on top of the car.

Pitbull’s dancers also make an appearance.

“Move to Miami” is Iglesias’ first English-language song since 2014’s “Bailando” featuring Sean Paul.

The single was released via RCA Records and produced by Nitti Gritti, Wuki and J.R. Rotem.

FX to Premiere MJ Rodriguez’s Dance Musical Series “Pose” in June

MJ Rodriguez is ready to strike a pose this summer…

FX has revealed the premiere date for Pose, the dance musical series starring the Latina transgender actress.

Hailing from creators Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Steven Canals, the series will premiere at 9:00 pm ET on Sunday, June 3.

Pose explores the juxtaposition of several segments of life and society in 1980s New York: the ball culture world, the rise of the luxury Donald Trump-era universe and the downtown social and literary scene.

New Jersey couple Stan (Evan Peters) and Patty (Kate Mara) get sucked into the glamour and intrigue of the scene. James Van Der Beek plays Peters’ financial kingpin boss Matt.

The history-making Pose features the largest transgender series regular cast, including Rodriguez, as well as the largest LGBTQ cast ever for a scripted series.

The trans actors were cast after a six-month nationwide search led by casting director Alexa Fogel. In addition to Rodriguez, they include Indya Moore, Dominique Jackson, Hailie Sahar and Angelica Ross. All will be playing transgender characters.

The series also co-stars Tony Award winner Billy Porter and newcomers Ryan Jamaal Swain and Dyllon Burnside.

Murphy directed the first two of the eight-episode freshman season produced by Fox 21 Television Studios and FX Productions.

Robert Rodriguez Developing Several Virtual Reality Film Projects

Robert Rodriguez has a virtual slew of projects…

The 49-year-old Mexican American filmmaker, best known for helming From Dusk til Dawn and Sin City, is working on several virtual reality film projects.

He announced the news after revealing the first glimpse of his forthcoming VR action thriller The Limit.

Rodriguez was at MIP TV in Cannes to attend a panel session about the nascent technology and lift the lid on the challenges of producing content for the format.

He offered attendees the first look at the trailer for The Limit, which stars Michelle Rodriguez as a genetically enhanced weapon of mass destruction hell bent on destroying the covert agency that created her.

It’s produced by Rodriguez’s Double R Productions, which he set up with his son Racer, and will premiere on STX Entertainment’s VR channel STXsurreal, run by Rick Rey and Andy Vick.

The app launches on VR headsets in mid 2018.

Jared Leto’s Thirty Seconds to Mars Releases “One Track Mind” Featuring A$AP Rocky

The 46-year-old part- Spanish American singer/actor and his rock band Thirty Seconds to Mars have joined voices with A$AP Rocky for the epic, brooding single “One Track Mind.”

“Rode around town, I made it official now, think about you every now and again,” croons A$AP Rocky on his verse. He even makes a punny shout out to his rock band collaborators, ending his part with “Heard it’s only 30 seconds ‘til Mars/Then it take you even less just to get to my heart.”

The song then dives into a guitar instrumental.

“One Track Mind” will be featured on Thirty Second to Mars’ upcoming album, The New Album, out April 6.

Oscar Isaac to Star in the Netflix Drama “Triple Frontier”

Oscar Isaac is headed to a new Frontier

The 39-year-old Guatemalan and Cuban American actor will star in the Netflix drama Triple Frontier.

Isaac leads an all-star cast that includes Ben AffleckCharlie HunnamPedro PascalGarrett Hedlund and Adria Arjona.

The J.C. Chandor-directed drama centers on five friends whose loyalties are tested when they reunite to take down a South American drug lord, unleashing a chain of unintended consequences.

The film is called Triple Frontier because of its setting in the notorious border zone with Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil, where the Iguazu and Parana rivers converge. That area is no longer considered as dangerous as it once was; tourists visit the area now.

Chandor has worked on the script and the location still borders Brazil.

It will shoot in Oahu, as well as in Colombia and California.
