Maluma’s New Album “F.A.M.E.” Debuts Atop Billboard’s Top Latin Albums Chart

Make that two chart-toppers in a row for Maluma

The 24-year-old Colombian urban singer/songwriter has earned his second consecutive No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart.

Maluma

Maluma’s latest album F.A.M.E. debuts atop the list dated June 2.

It earns the biggest week of the year for a Latin album by a solo artist in both units and traditional album sales, and the second-biggest week of 2018 overall. The title was released on May 18 through Royalty World/Sony Music Latin.

F.A.M.E. starts with 15,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending May 24 (with 7,000 of that sum in traditional album sales), according to Nielsen Music.

In terms of the biggest weeks for Latin albums in 2018, F.A.M.E.’s opening trails only the No. 1 debut frame of CNCO’s self-titled album both in units and sales (16,000 units, 13,000 sales; chart dated April 21).

F.A.M.E. follows Maluma’s previous leader, and last album, Pretty Boy Dirty Boy, which topped the chart in 2015. It bowed with 15,000 units earned in its first week, of which 2,000 were in traditional album sales.

Pretty Boy Dirty Boy has earned, in total, 222,000 equivalent album units, of which 27,000 are in album sales.

It’s a big week for Maluma on the charts, as F.A.M.E.’s third single “El Prestamo” also arrives in the penthouse on the Latin Airplay chart. It lifts 6-1 in its 10th week on the list with 20 million in audience impressions in the week ending May 27 — up 74 percent. It earns Maluma his eighth No. 1 and second leader of the year.

Ginger Gonzaga is kidding around…

The part-Latina actress has landed a recurring role opposite Jim Carrey in Showtime’s upcoming half-hour comedy series Kidding.

Ginger Gonzaga

Created by Dave Holstein, and helmed by Carrey’s Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind director Michel Gondry, the 10-episode Kidding centers on Jeff, aka Mr. Pickles (Carrey), an icon of children’s television, a beacon of kindness and wisdom to America’s impressionable young minds and the parents who grew up with him – who also anchors a multimillion dollar branding empire. But when this beloved personality’s family – wife, two sons, sister and father – begins to implode, Jeff finds no fairy tale or fable or puppet will guide him through this crisis, which advances faster than his means to cope.
