Bruno Mars Earns Five MTV Video Music Awards Nominations

Bruno Mars is leading the Latino pack of MTV Video Music Awards nominees.

The 40-year-old part-Puerto Rican Grammy-winning superstar has earned five MTV VMAs nominations, including two in the major categories.

Mars is up for Artist of the Year, as well as Video of the Year and Best R&B for “I Just Might.”

Shakira has earned three nods this year.

The 49-year-old Colombian superstar has earned three nods.

Shakira is up for Best Collaboration and Best Latin for “Dai Dai,” her FIFA World Cup collaboration with Burna Boy.

She also has a second nomination in the Best Latin category for her Anitta-collab “Choka Choka.”

Kehlani has earned two MTV VMAs nods.

The 31-year-old half-Mexican and part-Spanish American singer & songwriter is nominated in the Best R&BCategory for “Folded” and in the Best Hip-Hop category for her Cardi B-collab “Safe.”

Other Latin nominees include Fuerza Regida, Bad Bunny, Karol G, Rosalia and Ryan Castro.

The 2026 VMAs will air live from Los Angeles on Sunday, September 27, at 7:30 p.m. ET and 4:30 p.m. PT on CBS, with a simulcast on MTV and a stream on Paramount+.

The MTV VMAs are produced by Gunpowder & Sky. Van Toffler serves as producer. Jesse Ignjatovic of Den of Thieves, Barbara Bialkowski and Bruce Gillmer serve as executive producers, alongside Barry Barclay and Floris Bauer. Shakira’s still bending it like Beckham on the global charts…

The FIFA World Cup may have wrapped nearly a month ago with Spain’s defeat of Argentina in the tournament’s final match, but the 49-year-old Colombian Grammy-winning singer and Burna Boy’s “Dai Dai (FIFA World Cup Official Song 2026)” is still the biggest song in the world.

The track tops the Billboard Global 200 for a fifth week and the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart for an eighth frame.

“Dai Dai,” which first led the Global 200 in mid-July, drew 44.1 million streams (down 10% week over week) and sold 6,000 (down 9%) worldwide August 7-13, according to Luminate.

It holds atop Global Excl. U.S., where it first reigned at the beginning of July, with 37.8 million streams (down 10%) and 4,000 sold (down 8%) outside the U.S.

In the U.S., the song continues to gain at multiple radio formats, rising to No. 3 as the Greatest Gainer on Rhythmic Airplay. It topped Latin Airplay for a week in late July.

The Billboard Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts rank songs based on streaming and sales activity culled from more than 200 territories around the world, as compiled by Luminate. The Global 200 is inclusive of worldwide data and the Global Excl. U.S. chart comprises data from territories excluding the United States.

Chart ranks are based on a weighted formula incorporating official-only streams on both subscription and ad-supported tiers of audio and video music services, as well as download sales, the latter of which reflect purchases from full-service digital music retailers from around the world, with sales from direct-to-consumer (D2C) sites excluded from the charts’ calculations.

Shakira is still kickin’ it at the top of the global charts.

The 49-year-old Colombian Grammy-winning superstar’s Burna Boy-collaboration “Dai Dai (FIFA World Cup Official Song 2026)” continues leading the Billboard Global 200 for a fourth week and the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart for a sixth week, despite the fact the World Cup ended on July 19.

“Dai Dai” remains No. 1 on the Global 200 with 56.8 million streams (down 2% week over week) and 9,000 sold (down 44%) worldwide July 24-30, according to Luminate.

It tops Global Excl. U.S. with 48.5 million streams (down 2%) and 6,000 sold (down 32%) outside the U.S.

A week earlier, the song, which became the first official World Cup anthem to lead the lists, surged after Shakira, Justin Bieber, BTS and Madonna headlined the preeminent soccer tournament’s first-ever final halftime show, also featuring Burna Boy, among others, on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., an 11-minute spotlight that included “Dai Dai.”

Shakira’s is expanding her reign across the Billboard charts…

Following her chart-topping performance on the Billboard Global 200 and its spotlight turn during the FIFA World Cup’s first-ever halftime show, the 49-year-old Colombian superstar and Burna Boy’s “Dai Dai (FIFA World Cup Official Song 2026)” adds another win as it vaults 4-1 on the Latin Airplay chart dated July 25.

The rise delivers Shakira her 25th No. 1 and hands Burna Boy a chart-topper in his first visit.

With “Dai Dai” atop Latin Airplay, Shakira extends her record for the most No. 1s among women in the chart’s 32-year history. J Balvin remains the overall leader with 40 chart-toppers.

“Dai Dai” reaches the summit with a 25% gain in audience impressions, to 7.3 million, across the 152 Latin-reporting stations in the United States during the July 10-16 tracking week, according to Luminate.

“Dai Dai” marks Shakira’s return to the summit after more than a year, following the one-week reign of “Soltera” in January 2025. The latter became her first coronation as a solo artist dating to “Loba” in late 2009.

Since its Billboard debut, “Dai Dai” has collected 10 No. 1s worldwide, now adding Latin Airplay to its list of chart-topping achievements.

The song’s global momentum began soon after its premiere at the 2026 FIFA World Cup opening ceremony in Mexico City on June 11.

“Dai Dai’s” chart domination may continue, even though the World Cup concluded on July 19.

Its World Cup final halftime-show performance took place on July 19, during the July 17-23 tracking week, which could lift airplay, streams, and sales globally.

At the same time, the song may begin to lose momentum with the final four days of the current tracking period falling after the tournament’s close.

“Dai Dai” is No. 1 on the Global 200 with 43 million streams (up 4% week over week) and 5,000 sold (down 5%) worldwide July 10-16, according to Luminate.

It tops Global Excl. U.S. with 36.7 million streams (down 1%) and 4,000 sold (down 3%) outside the U.S.

The song has benefited from World Cup performances that bookended this edition’s festivities.

Shakira and Burna Boy performed it for a reported 80,000-plus fans at the opening ceremony June 11 at Mexico City’s Estadio Azteca.

It also holds for a third week atop the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart.

It’s the first official FIFA World Cup anthem to lead both charts, which began in 2020.

“Dai Dai” drew 41.5 million streams (up 8% week over week) and sold 6,000 (down 4%) worldwide July 3-9, according to Luminate.

Shakira claims her second Global 200 No. 1, after “TQG,” with Karol G, led in its debut week in March 2023. Burna Boy reigns for the first time.

Shakira to Perform at the Great Pyramids of Giza

Shakira is returning to one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World…

Nearly two decades after first performing in one of the most unique concert settings on the planet, the 49-year-old Colombian singer, songwriter, dancer and record producer is returning to the Great Pyramids of Giza in Egypt.

Shakira will set up shop in the shadow of the archaeological treasure on November 28 in a show presented by Venture Lifestyle, which has staged similar events there with JLo, John Legend and Katy Perry.

The gig will be a return of sorts for Shak, who previously performed in front of the Pyramids — the only surviving structure from the original seven wonders of the ancient world — in 2007 during her Oral Fixation tour. Tickets for the November show are available here.

“I’m very happy to be performing in Egypt, at the Pyramids of Giza. I love you all,” Shakira said in a statement about her return to the iconic site.

The pyramids show, part of the singer’s Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran world tour, was originally scheduled for April 7, but was rescheduled to November due to what promoters called “the situation in the region,” in the wake of the U.S. and Israel’s war against Iran.

Before that, Shakira will take the stage for the first-ever FIFA World Cup final halftime show on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

The show, curated by Coldplay singer Chris Martin, will also feature performances from Madonna, Justin Bieber, BTS, Burna Boy and Gustavo Dudamel.

“It’s going to be a shared halftime show … it’s going to be pretty historic, five amazing artists, well four amazing artists plus me,” the singer said in an interview earlier this week.

She previously helped open the 2026 FIFA World cup last month when she performed at the opening ceremony in Mexico City at the iconic Azteca Stadium alongside Burna Boy and J Balvin.

The singer performed her official 2026 World Cup anthem, “Dai Dai,” whose profits will be donated to the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund; $500,000 from that fund will be used to support education intervention for children affected by the recent pair of devastating earthquakes in Venezuela.

Shakira was spotted taking in the France vs. Morocco World Cup quarterfinal game on Thursday (July 9) at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.
