Fifth Harmony Wins Best Pop Video at the MTV Video Music Awards

Ally Brooke Hernandez and Lauren Jauregui have a big reason to get down

The Latina singers and their fellow Fifth Harmony members picked up the Best Pop Video award at Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards for the clip for their single “Down,” featuring Gucci Mane.

Fifth Harmony beat out Shawn Mendes, Katy Perry, Harry Styles, Ed Sheeran and Miley Cyrus for the award, the fourth MTV VMA Award of their career.

Meanwhile, Residente and Snow Tha Product picked up their first MTV VMA Awards.

The 39-year-old Puerto Rican rapper and the 30-year-old Mexican American hip hop artist picked up the award for Best Fight Against the System for their collaboration with K’naan and Riz MC on “Immigrants (We Get the Job Done),” from The Hamilton Mixtape.

Gomez Receives First-Ever MTV VMA Award Nomination

The 20-year-old half-Mexican American singer has received her first-ever MTV VMA award nomination for Best Female Video for “Love You Like a Love Song,” which peaked at number 22 on Billboard Hot 100 and has sold more than two million copies.

Gomez’s high-style video—which finds her in an underground Japanese karaoke club and magically mixes elements of reality and fantasy—will face stiff competition from Rihanna’s “We Found Love,”
Katy Perry’s “Part of Me,”
Beyoncé’s “Love on Top”
and Nicki Minaj’s “Starships.”

Gomez’s one-time BFF Demi Lovato has been nominated in the Best Video With a Message category for her anthem “Skyscraper.” She’ll face off against Rise Against’s “Ballad of Hollis Brown,”
