Alba to Serve as Adviser on NBC’s “The New Celebrity Apprentice”

Jessica Alba is ready to advise…

The 35-year-old half-Mexican American actress, author and entrepreneur will serve as an adviser on NBC’s The New Celebrity Apprentice.

The series, set in Los Angeles with new host Arnold Schwarzenegger reigning over the boardroom, will premiere at 8:00 pm on Monday, January 2.

In addition to Alba, the founder and chief creative officer of the Honest Company and Honest Beauty, the new season’s advisers include investment guru Warren Buffett, Los Angeles Clippers owner and former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer; supermodel and actress Tyra Banks, CEO of the Tyra Banks Company and cosmetics brand Tyra Beauty; and entertainment attorney Patrick Schwarzenegger, Arnold’s nephew.

Barea Agrees to Four-Year, $16 Million Deal with the Dallas Mavericks

J.J. Barea has landed a Maverick deal…

The 31-year-old Puerto Rican professional basketball player has signed a four-year, $16 million deal with the Dallas Mavericks.

Barea had originally agreed to sign a two-year, $5.7 million deal, which would have given him Dallas’ cap-room exception, but both sides negotiated a new deal after center DeAndre Jordan backed out of his commitment to sign a max contract with the Mavs.

“They knew I wanted to be there for a long time,” Barea told ESPN.com. “They wanted me there for a long time, so we made it happen.”

Barea, who has averaged 8.2 points and 3.4 assists during his nine-year career,

Was a key contributor to the Mavericks’ 2010-11 championship team. He returned to Dallas in the fall after being bought out from the Minnesota Timberwolves for the final season of his four-year, $18 million deal.

He spent the first five seasons of his career with the Mavs after breaking into the league as an undrafted free agent, was an effective fourth guard in his second Dallas stint. He averaged 7.5 points and 3.4 assists in 17.7 minutes per game last season. His assist-turnover ratio (3.78-1) ranked behind only the Los Angeles Clippers‘ Chris Paul and the Denver Nuggets‘ Ty Lawson among league leaders.

Ginobili Returning for 14th Season with the San Antonio Spurs

The Spurs the limit for Manu Ginobili…

The 37-year-old Argentine player will return another season with the San Antonio Spurs, announcing his decision in a tweet Monday.

“Happy to announce that I’m coming back next season. #gospursgo #TDwouldvemissedmetoomuch,” tweeted Ginobili, considered one of the finest international players to grace the NBA.

Ginobili had said Tim Duncan‘s decision would affect whether he returned for the upcoming season. Duncan announced Thursday that he would return for his 19th season.

The Spurs were determined to convince Ginobili to play one more season after agreeing to terms with LaMarcus Aldridge, sources told ESPN.com. The Spurs remained quietly optimistic that Ginobili would ultimately opt to come back.

While Ginobili appears to be on the decline statistically, coach Gregg Popovich still wanted to bring him back for a 14th season with the Spurs, as Ginobili’s experience and intangibles make him an important piece as the club tries to make a run at a second championship in three years.

Ginobili, a two-time NBA All-Star and Sixth Man of the Year, had pondered retirement since San Antonio’s season ended with a heartbreaking loss to the Los Angeles Clippers in Game 7 of the Western Conference first round.

In 2014-15, Ginobili turned over the ball five times per 100 possessions, which registered as a career high. In the postseason series against Los Angeles, Ginobili connected on just 34.9 percent of his shots, the worst playoff field goal percentage of his career.

Ginobili has averaged 14.3 points throughout his career in the regular season and 15.2 points per game in the postseason.

Lopez ThisClose to Signing with the New York Knicks

Robin Lopez is in a New York state of mind…

The 27-year-old half-Cuban American professional basketball player, a free-agent center, will sign with the New York Knicks as long as DeAndre Jordan, as expected, chooses the Los Angeles Clippers or Dallas Mavericks and not the Knicks, according to ESPN sources.

Lopez has picked the Knicks over the Los Angeles Lakers in a deal reportedly valued at $12 million a year.

If he ends up in New York, he’ll be the second free agent picked up by Phil Jackson and the Knicks in the 2015 offseason. Earlier Thursday, New York agreed to a two-year, $16 million contract with Arron Afflalo.

Lopez is known as a strong defender and rebounder, two areas in which the 17-win Knicks struggled last season. The 7-foot center averaged 8.7 rebounds per 36 minutes last season, including 4.2 on the offensive end.

New York now awaits Jordan’s decision with the insurance of a Lopez agreement in hand. The terms of Lopez’s agreement are not yet known.

Lopez played the past two seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers. He was selected 15th overall by the Phoenix Suns in 2008, playing his first four seasons there. The New Orleans Pelicans acquired him via sign-and-trade in 2012, with Lopez starting all 82 games that season. The Blazers acquired him in a three-team trade before the 2013-14 season.

He recorded 29 double-doubles and set a franchise record for offensive rebounds in his first season with the Blazers. He missed 23 games last season due to a broken hand suffered in December but still averaged 9.6 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game, anchoring Portland’s interior defense.

A seven-year veteran, Lopez holds career averages of 8.2 points and 5.0 rebounds in 465 games.

Pitbull’s “Timber” Wins Best Collaboration Award at the iHeartRadio Music Awards

There’s no denying Pitbull is the collaboration king… And, now he’s got the award to prove it.

The 33-year-old Cuban American rap superstar picked up the award for Best Collaboration at the first-ever iHeartRadio Music Awards in Los Angeles Thursday night.

Pitbull earned the award for “Timber,” his chart-topping collaboration with Ke$ha, at the fan-voted ceremony.

But he didn’t just pick up an award… Pitbull was also one of the night’s performers.

After opening the NBC broadcast, Pitbull took a jab at Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling, who was suspended for life by the NBA this week for making racing comments.

“Now everyone that’s here is a who’s who, a what’s what, the anybody’s of all anybody’s, except, of course, for Donald Sterling,” Mr. Worldwide said. “You can take a picture with whoever you want tonight, even Magic Johnson.”

Other performers included Shakira, Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran, Bastille, Blake Shelton, Thirty Seconds to Mars and Luke Bryan.

Anthony to Appear in NBA-Themed Special on Disney XD

It’s game on for Carmelo Anthony and his upcoming Disney project…

The 28-year-old half-Puerto Rican professional basketball player who currently plays for the New York Knicks will be appearing in a Disney XD special entitled My Life as an NBA Rookie.

The special, created in partnership with the NBA, will give viewers an inside look at some of the biggest basketball stars in their first year in the league.

Hosted by Billy Unger of Disney XD’s Lab Rats, the special will feature exclusive footage of New Orleans Hornets power forward and No. 1 draft pick Anthony Davis practicing for the 2012 Summer Olympics with the USA Basketball Men’s National Team.

It also will take fans behind the scenes at the NBA Draft Combine and NBA Draft, show how players mentally and physically prepare for training camp and opening night, reveal entertaining rookie duties and show how they sometimes get pranked by returning players — like having their entire car filled with popcorn or being forced to carry around a pink girly knapsack.

Along with Anthony and Davis, Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard of the Los Angeles Lakers, LeBron James of the Miami Heat, Blake Griffin and Chris Paul of the Los Angeles Clippers, Kyrie Irving of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Kevin Love of the Minnesota Timberwolves, Tyson Chandler of the New York Knicks, Deron Williams of the Brooklyn Nets, Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook of the Oklahoma City Thunder will appear in the special.

The program will premiere at on October 29 at 7:00 pm as part of Disney XD’s sports-themed Nothing But Net Marathon, which also will include episodes of Kickin’ It, Lab Rats and Crash & Bernstein starting at 5:00 p.m.

Torres to Compete on NBC’s “Stars Earn Stripes”

Eve Torres is preparing to earn her reality television stars and stripes…

The 27-year-old part Nicaraguan American former WWE Divas champion will be competing in NBC’s upcoming military-themed competition series Stars Earn Stripes, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Stars Earn Stripes will feature celebrity contestants taking part in tough military training exercises.

Along with Torres, who got her big break as a member of the Los Angeles Clippers Spirit Dance Team, the list of celebrity competitors includes boxing champion Laila Ali, actor Dean Cain, former NFL player and actor Terry Crews, singer and television host Nick Lachey, Sarah Palin’s husband Todd Palin, Olympic gold medalist Picabo Street and The Biggest Loser trainer Dolvett Quince.

Meanwhile, former Supreme Allied Commander Europe for NATO and 2004 presidential candidate General Wesley Clark (ret.) will host the show along with Entertainment Tonight’s Samantha Harris.

“This new series pays tribute to members of our dedicated armed forces and civil law enforcement and I know that the winnings, which will be donated to first-responder charity and veterans groups, will make a difference and send an important message,” said Clark in a statement.

Torres and her fellow competitors will gather at a training facility where they’ll tackle complicated and difficult “missions” inspired by real-life military exercises. Like on Dancing With the Stars, each celebrity will be partnered with an expert — in this case, an experienced member of the U.S. military or a law enforcement agency.

Contests range from helicopter drops to long-range target shooting, with the celebrity and the veteran competing as a team. Each week, one team is eliminated.

Stars Earn Stripes will debut with a special two-hour episode on Monday, August 13, at 8 p.m.
