Fuerza Regida’s “Marlboro Rojo” Dethrones Bad Bunny for No. 1 Spot on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs Chart

Fuerza Regida has a smokin’ hot hit…

The Regional Mexican group’s 111XPANTIA album has delivered its first No. 1 on Billboard’Hot Latin Songs chart, as “Marlboro Rojo” claims the top spot on the chart dated August 30.

Fuerza RegidaThe group notches its third No. 1 and first on its own.

“Marlboro Rojo” brings a halt to Bad Bunny’s longest-leading hit, “DtMF,” after the latter reigned for 31 consecutive weeks out of its 33-week run so far.

“Marlboro Rojo” rises 2-1 on the multi-metric tally with gains across radio and streaming. It climbs 37-23 on the overall Latin Airplay chart following a 28% growth in audience impressions, to 4.2 million, earned in the United States during the Aug. 15-21 tracking week, according to Luminate.

The song also drew 6.2 million streams during the same period, enough to rebound to its No. 1 peak, for a fourth week, on Latin Streaming Songs.

Prior to the first No. 1 single from Fuerza Regida’s album 111XPANTIA — which earned the group its sixth ruler on Top Regional Mexican Albums and led for 16 weeks running — the act dominated Hot Latin Songs with “Tu Boda,” with Oscar Maydon (11 weeks beginning last November), and “Bebe Dame,” with Grupo Frontera (two in 2023).

Notably, all the songs from 111XPANTIA album secured a spot on the Hot Latin Songs chart upon its release.

Beyond the album’s new chart-topping hit, two other songs broke into the top 10. Among them, “Tu Sancho” fell just shy of the top spot with a No. 2 peak in July.

Elsewhere, “Marlboro Rojo” also breaks into the upper region on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart (rising 16-10); the group’s 12th top 10.

Selena Gomez’s Collaboration with Benny Blanco & The Marias Reaches No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Pop Airplay Chart

Selena Gomez has nothing to be triste about…

Four months after its No. 1 debut on Billboard’s inaugural Hot Latin Pop Songs chart, the 33-year-old Mexican American actress and singer’s track “Ojos Tristes,” featuring benny blanco and The Marias, tops an airplay chart for the first time, as the song jumps 2-1 on the Latin Pop Airplay chart.

Selena Gomez“Ojos Tristes” claims the No. 1 spot with 8.3 million audience impressions earned in the United States during the August 8-14 tracking week, according to Luminate; that’s a 21% growth from the prior week.

“Ojos Tristes” first bowed at No. 1 on the introductory Hot Latin Pop Songs chart dated April 12, largely fueled by 8.7 million official on-demand U.S. streams. The chart employs the same methodology as the multi-metric Hot Latin Songs chart, where streaming data, airplay audience and digitals sales are included into its formula.

During that chart-topping week, the three-way collab also generated 1,000 downloads and retained its spot at the summit on Latin Digital Songs Sales, despite a substantial 40% decline in sales.

Now, four months later, “Ojos Tristes” has become the biggest song on Latin pop stations across the U.S. after a 17-week journey to the top.

The achievement matches with Farruko’s “Cables Cruzados” (February 22), marking it the longest trek to the top on Latin Pop Airplay in 2025 and the slowest ascent since Carlos Vives and Juanes’ “Las Mujeres” also took 17 weeks to claim the top slot in December 2023.

Gomez finds her third leader on the chart, following her featured turn on DJ Snake’s “Taki Taki,” which also features Ozuna and Cardi B (2018) and “Baila Conmigo,” with Rauw Alejandro (2021).

As for benny blanco and The Marias, they each claim their first No. 1 on Latin Pop Airplay through “Ojos Tristes,” the fourth single from Gomez’s and blanco’s collaborative project, I Said I Love You First. The set took the pair to a No. 2 debut on the overall Billboard 200 (April 5 list).

Building on its success atop the Latin Pop Airplay chart, “Ojos Tristes” makes progress on the overall Latin Airplay chart, where it climbs from No. 6 to No. 3, a new peak. This is Gomez’s highest position on the chart since her No. 1-peaking “Baila Conmigo” in 2021.

Returning to where “Ojos Tristes” first began its reign, the song secures a 13th week at No. 1 on Hot Latin Pop Songs.

Kirstin Maldonado & Pentatonix Group Mates to Launch ‘Christmas in the City’ Tour in November

Kirstin Maldonado is preparing to help spread holiday cheer this season…

The 32-year-old half-Mexican, part-Spanish American Grammy-winning singer and her Pentatonix group mates have announced their upcoming Christmas in the City tour.

Pentatonix, Christmas in the City TourThe trek will kick off on November 8 in West Valley City, Utah at Maverik Center, roll through major arenas throughout the U.S. and conclude with two hometown shows on December 21 and December 22 in Fort Worth, TX at Dickie’s Arena.

Pentatonix has become closely identified with the holiday season. Six of the group’s 11 top 10 titles on the Billboard 200 have been holiday releases, including That’s Christmas to Me (No. 2 in 2014) and A Pentatonix Christmas (No. 1 in 2017).

All three of the group’s top 40 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 were drawn from holiday albums or EPs – “Little Drummer Boy” (No. 13 in 2013), Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” (No. 23 in 2017) and “Mary, Did You Know” (No. 26 in 2014).

The group has undertaken an annual holiday tour of arenas for several years. In 2023, the group closed out their year with a North American Christmas tour in support of their compilation album, The Greatest Christmas Hits.

Last year, Pentatonix appeared in the Netflix holiday romcom, Meet Me Next Christmas, which starred Christina Milian.

“This holiday season, we’re bringing you the hits you know and love, the theatrical magic that makes Christmas feel so special, and a few nostalgic sounds from the past — all in one unforgettable night,” Kevin Olusola, the group’s beatboxer, said in a statement.

There is a long history of artists announcing tours and even releasing holiday albums when most people would much rather have a glass of cold lemonade than a cup of hot cocoa. Garth Brooks released his (appropriately-titled) Beyond the Season on August 25, 1992. The album was a smash, reaching No. 2 on the Billboard 200 in the issue dated September 19.

Since emerging in 2011, Pentatonix – Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi, Maldonado, Kevin Olusola and Matt Sallee – have reached heights unprecedented for an a capella group.

They won Grammys three years running — best arrangement, instrumental or a cappella for “Daft Punk” in 2015 and “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” in 2016 and best country duo/group performance in 2017 for “Jolene,” a collab with country legend Dolly Parton. In 2023 and 2024 they were nominated for best traditional pop vocal album for Evergreen and Holidays Around the World, making them the only group or duo to receive two nods in the history of that category.

In addition to Parton, Pentatonix have collaborated with artists including Kelly Clarkson, Miley Cyrus, Meghan Trainor and Lindsey Stirling. In 2015, they had a cameo in the blockbuster film Pitch Perfect 2. In 2023, they received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Tickets for the upcoming tour go on sale to the general public on Friday, August 22 at 10:00 am local time. There will also be a special presale for Pentatonix Patreon members on Monday, August 18, as well as an artist presale on Tuesday, August 19.

$1 per ticket sold for the Fort Worth and Houston shows will go to Direct Relief to assist in their efforts to help those impacted by the recent flooding in the state.  www.directrelief.org.

Fans can also check out official VIP packages, available at wearesuper.co/pentatonix. Packages may include best-in-house seating, a mini-performance and official Q&A with Pentatonix, an invitation to the pre-show Pentatonix Winter Village, autographed merchandise, and more special seasonal surprises. Availability is limited in each city.

Mariah Carey’s “Type Dangerous” Rises to No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay Chart

Mariah Carey is back at the top of the charts…

The 56-year-old half-Venezuelan American Grammy-winning singer/songwriter returns to the summit of Billboard’Adult R&B Airplay chart — or any radio-based ranking with a new non-holiday song — for the first time in nearly two decades as “Type Dangerous” glides a spot to No. 1 on the August 16-dated chart.

Mariah CareyCarey earns her third ruler on the tally and first since “Fly Like a Bird” reigned for six frames in July-September 2006. She first led with “We Belong Together” for eight weeks in 2005.

Carey’s 18-year and 11-month gap between Adult R&B Airplay toppers marks the longest stretch for a woman in the chart’s nearly 32-year history, surpassing Janet Jackson’s 17 years and two months between “I Get Lonely” (1998) and “No Sleeep” (2015).

Carey waited the third longest to revisit No. 1 on the chart. Kenny Lattimore holds the all-time mark (25 years, four months and two weeks between “For You” in 1997 and “Take a Dose” in 2023), followed by The Isley Brothers (21 years and one week from “Contagious” in 2001 to “Make Me Say It Again Girl” in 2022).

In between “Fly Like a Bird” and “Type Dangerous,” Carey reached Adult R&B Airplay 13 times, led by the No. 3-peaking “With You” in 2019.

While Carey last topped a Billboard airplay chart with a new non-seasonal single via “Fly Like a Bird,” in between she led Adult Contemporary for four weeks in 2010-11 with “Oh Santa!” Her 1994 chestnut “All I Want for Christmas Is You” has crowned the Holiday Airplay chart for a record 59 weeks through this past holiday season.

Carey first led a Billboard radio chart with her debut smash “Vision of Love,” which ruled Adult Contemporary for three weeks in August 1990.

Meanwhile, the nine-week trip to No. 1 on Adult R&B Airplay for “Type Dangerous” is the chart’s quickest of 2025.

The single has also hit No. 7 on R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay.

Upon its debut on the Billboard Hot 100 in June, it became Carey’s milestone 50th career hit on the chart. She first reached the Hot 100 with “Vision of Love,” which became the first of her 19 No. 1s, the most among soloists.

“Type Dangerous” is the lead single from Here for It All, Carey’s 16th studio album, due September 26. Second single “Sugar Sweet,” featuring Shenseea and Kehlani, is now being promoted to radio.

Myke Towers Earns 15th No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay Chart with Quevedo-Collab “Soleao”

Myke Towers has a bright hot smash…

The 31-year-old Puerto Rican rapper/singer’s Quevedo-collaboration “Soleao” has risen to the top of Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart as the song jumps a spot to No. 1 on the list dated Aug. 9.

Myke Towers, Quevedo

Towers and Quevedo’s first collaboration, “Soleao” was released May 20 on One World International/Warner Records/Warner Latina. It leads the way in its ninth chart week, after an 11% growth in audience impressions, to 9.1 million, across U.S. panel-contributing Latin radio stations in the tracking week of July 25-31, according to Luminate.

Towers claims his 15th Latin Airplay champ, and third consecutively of 2025, after one-week rulers “Otra Noche,” featuring Darell (February), and “Degenere,” featuring Benny Blanco (May).

Further, Towers adds to his satchel of wins as he accomplishes a third trio of No. 1s in a single year. Rewind to 2021, when (after landing two early chart-toppers, for that matter) the Puerto Rican delivered a streak of three straight No. 1s: “Bandido,” with Juhn; “Pareja del Año,” with Sebastián Yatra; and “Bésame,” with Luis Fonsi, that June, August and November, respectively. In 2024, Towers replicated the success with another trio of consecutive No. 1s: “Borracho y Loco,” with Yandel; “La Falda”; and “La Capi,” between that February and May.

Meanwhile, Quevedo makes a comeback to No. 1 on Latin Airplay. He previously led, for four weeks, with “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 52,” with Bizarrap, in 2022.

Beyond its Latin Airplay coronation, “Soleao” likewise lifts 2-1 on Latin Pop Airplay. There, Towers tallies a third No. 1 and Quevedo, his first. Further, the song adds a second week atop Latin Rhythm Airplay.

Mariah Carey Teams Up with Shenseea & Kehlani for New Single “Sugar Sweet”

It’s a sugary sweet moment for Mariah Carey.

The 56-year-old half-Venezuelan American Grammy-winning songstress has joined voices with Shenseea and Kehlani to release her latest single “Sugar Sweet.”

Mariah Carey

It’s the second single released ahead of Carey’s 16th studio album Here For It All, which will be released on September 26 via gamma.

In June, she shared the lead single “Type Dangerous,” as well as an accompanying remix EP featuring collaborations with Busta Rhymes, Method Man and Red Man; Big Sean; DJ Snake and Luísa Sonza.

“Type Dangerous,” which samples Eric B. & Rakim‘s 1986 track “Eric B. Is President,” became her 50th Billboard Hot 100 hit, reaching No. 95.

It also entered the top 10 of R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay.

At the start of this month, the elusive chanteuse revealed she had finished Here For It All during a sit-down interview with Zane Lowe and Ebro Darden at the new Apple Music Studios in Los Angeles during a special live broadcast to celebrate the streaming platform’s 10th anniversary.

Mimi said she was “very excited” about “Sugar Sweet” because “it’s very summery. I like the beat as well.” She also revealed that Here For It All will feature 11 or 12 songs, including “some Mariah ballads.”

Here For It All will arrive seven years after her last studio album, Caution. The 10-track project featured collaborations with Ty Dolla $ign, Slick Rick and Blood Orange and Gunna.

It reached No. 5 on the Billboard 200 and earned MC her eighth No. 1 project on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums.

La Adictiva“Cuídala” lands at the summit after a 64% gain in audience impressions, equating to 7.3 million, earned in the United States during the July 11-17 tracking week, according to Luminate.

With “Cuídala,” La Adictiva achieves its 14th No. 1 hit on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart, and its first chart-topper unaccompanied by a collaborator in over three years.

The group’s previous solo No. 1, “Ya Solo Eres Mi Ex,” reigned for four weeks in December 2021 through January 2022.

The group last hit No. 1 through “Bandida,” a three-way collab by La Adictiva with Grupo Marca Registrada and Montana in June 2024.

Demi Lovato Set to Release “Celebratory Dance-Pop Album”

Demi Lovato is about to drop it like it’s pop

The 32-year-old Mexican American singer/actress is set to resurrect her mainstream influences on a dance-heavy new album, despite committing to a punk-rock pivot over the past few years, per the Rolling Stone.

Demi LovatoThough many details of the LP are still under wraps, the publication confirmed that Lovato has been hard at work on a “celebratory dance-pop album” with executive producer Zhone, who says that the former Disney star is a “master in the studio.”

“It’s been so inspiring working with Demi and experiencing her journey of continued leveling up,” he told RS.

“This album is about letting inhibitions go, and we had so much fun making this music!” Zhone added. “It really comes across throughout.”

Led by an EDM-tinged single titled “Fast” — which Lovato has been teasing via video snippets on social media — the upcoming full-length is expected to mark a return to the form of the Camp Rock alum’s past pop-focused Billboard Hot 100 hits (think: 2015’s “Cool for the Summer” or 2017’s “Sorry Not Sorry”).

It’ll follow 2022’s distinctly punk-rock effort Holy Fvck, which reached No. 7 on the Billboard 200.

Shortly before releasing Holy Fvck, Lovato commemorated the end of a pop-music era by posing solemnly in a photo with members of their team — including then-manager Scooter Braun — dressed all in black. “A funeral for my pop music,” Lovato wrote at the time on Instagram.

The star later doubled down on her pivot to rock music by releasing Revamped, an album of past Lovato pop hits reimagined in the edgier genre.

With the new album approaching, however, Lovato recently shared a video on TikTok poking fun at their past departure from the mainstream, writing, “my pop music coming back to life after we held a funeral for it.”

One major change in Lovato’s personal life that has informed her musical homecoming is the vocalist’s marriage to producer Jordan “Jutes” Lutes,” according to RS. The pair tied the knot this past May.

“Over the past few years, Demi has found love, joy, and newfound confidence, making the choice to approach life with much more lightness and fun,” one unnamed source reportedly told the publication. “She took this sentiment into the studio, which can be felt in every track on this celebratory dance-pop album.”

Though Lovato always had an edgier sound than many of their fellow Disney Channel-bred pop stars, the performer shined in the pop-music landscape before transitioning away to rock. From 2008’s debut LP Don’t Forget to 2021’s Dancing With the Devil, all seven of Lovato’s studio albums leading up to Holy Fvck charted in the top 5 of the Billboard 200.

Lovato has also scored a number of Hot 100 hits over the course of her pop career, including top 10 entries “Heart Attack” and “Skyscraper.”
