Bad Bunny Leads Pack of Latin American Music Awards Nominees with 11 Nods

Bad Bunny is the artist to beat at this year’s Latin American Music Awards.

The nominations for the 2023 Latin AMAs have been revealed, with the 29-year-old Puerto Rican rapper and singer leading the pack with 11 nominations, including artist of the year, song of the year and album of the year.

Bad BunnyBad Bunny is still riding high off his Billboard 200 chart-topping album Un Verano Sin Ti and hit single “Me porto bonito.”

Bad Bunny is followed by Becky G and Daddy Yankee, each with nine nominations; and with eight nods each are Grupo Frontera, Karol G, Rauw Alejandro, Romeo Santos and Rosalía, to name a few.

Additionally, Bizarrap, Blessd, Edén Muñoz, Grupo Frontera, Los Lara, Luis Figueroa, Luis R Conriquez, Quevedo, Santa Fe Klan and Yahritza y Su Esencia are nominated in the best new artist category.

TelevisaUnivision also revealed that Carlos Vives and Pepe Aguilar will be recognized as 2023 Latin AMAs Legacy honorees.

Co-hosted by Galilea Montijo and Julián Gil, the eighth edition of the Latin AMAs will take place on Thursday, April 20, at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, and for the first time — since its debut on October 8, 2015, on Telemundo — the ceremony will be broadcast live simultaneously on Univision, UNIMÁS and Galavisión (starting at 7:00 pm ET), after TelevisaUnivision acquired the rights from dick clark productions last September.

This year’s nominations are based on streaming, sales, radio airplay, tours and even social media interactions data provided by Billboard and Luminate during the eligibility period (February 12, 2022, through February 4, 2023).

Fans can vote for their favorite artists on Univision.com/LatinAMAs through Sunday, March 26.

Karol G Reveals Doodle-Inspired Cover Art & Track List for New Album “Mañana Será Bonito”

Karol G is getting colorful…

The 31-year-old Colombian singer-songwriter has unveiled the colorful doodle-inspired cover and tracklist for her forthcoming album Mañana Será Bonito, which will be released on February 24.

Karol GThe 17-song album, which kicks off with “Mientras Me Curo del Cora,” features collaborations with Quevedo, Carla Morrison, Sean Paul, Sech, Bad Gyal, Justin Quiles and Angel Dior.

It also includes previously released singles “Provenza,” “Cairo” with Ovy on the Drums, “Gatubela” featuring Maldy, and the Romeo Santos-assisted “X Si Volvemos.”

“This is the face of my album,” Karol wrote on social media. “I present it with all my love and pride. To be honest, I can’t believe I was able to contain myself and not share the release date sooner but I can finally share it with you. I am happy and counting down the days.”

Mañana Será Bonito will be her fourth studio album. It will follow her 2021 Grammy-nominated KG0516, which scored Karol her first No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums. The set earned the biggest week for a Latin album by a woman since Shakira‘s 2017 El Dorado.

Karol G nabbed the No. 1 spot on Billboard‘s 2022 year-end Top Latin Artists – Female chart for a fourth consecutive year. She was also No. 2 on the overall Top Latin Artists chart – the only female act in the top 10. Furthermore, Karol G’s $trip Love Tour became the highest grossing U.S. tour by Latin female act in history. It grossed $69.9 million and sold 410,000 tickets across 33 shows in North America (through the end of October), according to numbers reported to Billboard Boxscore.

Shakira is on cloud nine with the success of her latest single…

The 45-year-old Colombian Grammy– and Latin Grammy-winning singer and songwriter’s collaboration with Bizarrap “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” has hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay on the chart dated February 4.

Bizarrap, ShakiraTheir in-studio diss track has now topped nine U.S. Billboard charts, including Latin Digital Song Sales, Latin Pop Digital Song Sales, Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs, Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales, Hot Latin Songs, Latin Streaming Songs, Latin Pop Airplay, Latin Pop Streaming Songs, and now Latin Airplay.

“Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” advances 5-1 in its second week on Latin Airplay after a strong 35% gain in audience impressions, to 10 million, earned in the week ending January 26, according to Luminate.

The new coronation extends Shakira’s record among women, with 18 No. 1s. Bizarrap clocks his second after “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 52,” with Quevedo, reached the top of the chart last November where it remained for four weeks.

Shakira, meanwhile, replaces herself at No. 1 as “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” sends “Monotonía,” with Ozuna, to No. 5, after six weeks in charge, the most since Daddy Yankee’s “Con Calma,” featuring Snow, dominated the tally for eight weeks in 2019. Notably, it’s the first time a woman replaces herself at No. 1 since the chart launched in 1994.

Plus, the last time an act replaced itself at No. 1 on Latin Airplay was Farruko when “Pepas” dethroned his featured turn on Enrique Iglesias’ “Me Pasé” in October 2021.

“Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” continues its winning streak across Billboard charts.

It remains at No. 1 on Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs, Hot Latin Songs, Latin Pop Airplay, and Latin Streaming Songs and Latin Pop Streaming Songs for a second week, while on Latin Digital Song Sales and Latin Pop Digital Song Sales, the track holds atop for a third week.

Over on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100, the track dips 9-13. Further, it holds steady at No. 2 on both Billboard Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts.

Shakira Partnering with Bizarrap for “BZRP Music Session #53”

Shakira is joining the sessions…

The 45-year-old Colombian singer and songwriter is teaming up with Bizarrap for one of the Argentine producer’s hit-producing Music Sessions.

Shakira, MonotoniaAfter teasing a new track on Monday, January 9), Shakira and Bizarrap both took to social media to confirm their collaboration.

Initially, the new single had been teased with release date of Wednesday, January 11 and a one liner: “a wolf like me doesn’t have time for men like you.”

Subsequently, they announced the collab, simply writing, “Tomorrow, BZRP Music Session #53.”

It’s the first time the pair has teamed up for a track. Shakira joins a number of artists — including Nicky Jam, Residente and Paulo Londra — who’ve jumped on one of Bizarrap’s zealously streamed music sessions.

His session with Spanish act Quevedo scored both their first entry on the Billboard Hot 100. Currently, it has more than 400 million views on YouTube.

This new song will follow Shakira’s Ozuna-assisted “Monotonía,” which peaked at No. 3 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart dated November 5. It currently sits at No. 1 on the Latin Airplay chart, where it’s ruled for four weeks.

Recently, Shakira shared a heartfelt message of hope to start off the new year. “Even if our wounds are still open in this new year, time has a surgeon’s hands. Even if someone’s betrayed us, we must continue to trust others,” wrote the Colombian singer. “When faced with contempt, continue to know your worth. Because there are more good people than indecent ones. More people with empathy than indifference.”

She continued: “The ones who leave are fewer than the many who stay by our side. Our tears are not in vain, they water the soil our future will spring from and make us more human, so that even while suffering heartache we can continue to love.”

The message came after a difficult year due to her separation from Spanish soccer player Gerard Piqué, the father of her children. The singer has spoken openly about the breakup since it was confirmed in June, and has posted material — including releasing the heartbreak song “Monotonía” — alluding to her pain.

The 22-year-old Colombian singer’s hit single “La Bachata” is spending an 11th week at No. 1 on the Billboard Argentina Hot 100 chart dated November 19).

Further, Argentinian Ysy A scores his 15th entry as every song from his latest album, Ysysmo, debuts on the tally. One song from the 12-track set, which released on November 11 through Sponsor Dios, scores the week’s Hot Shot Debut: “Cómo Chilla Ella,” with Sponsor Dios and Evlay, at No. 5.

Elsewhere, Bizarrap adds a 35th entry as his latest collab with Duki, “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 50,” debuts at No. 11. With the new arrival, he ties with Anuel AA, Ozuna and Rauw Alejandro for the third-most, trailing only Bad Bunny’s 53 entries and J Balvin’s 49. Duki, meanwhile, adds a 34th appearance to his account.

La K’onga takes the Greatest Gainer honors of the week thanks to “El Mismo Aire,” which ascends 97-81. Lali collects her 14th entry as “Motiveishon” starts at No. 83. Lastly, David Guetta and Bebe Rexha’s “I’m Good (Blue)” opens at No. 85.

Bizarrap’s hit keeps on giving…

The 24-year-old Argentine Latin Grammy-nominated record producer and DJ has achieved a new career milestone as his Quevedo-collaboration “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 52” rises to No. 1 on the Billboard Latin Airplay chart dated November 5.

Bizarrap, Quevedo,It’s the first No. 1 on the chart for both acts.

The new achievement lands after their team-up led both, the Billboard Global 200 chart (six weeks) and the Global Excl. U.S. chart (four weeks) starting with the July 30-dated rankings.

“Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 52” advances to the top slot in its seventh week on Latin Airplay thanks to an 8% gain, to 9 million, earned in the U.S. in the week ending October 30, according to Luminate.

With the move, Bizarrap and Quevedo join four other acts who have notched their first champ through their first showing on the list in 2022.

Elsewhere, “Vol. 52” steps 12-11 on the multi-metric Hot Latin Songs chart despite a decline in both streams and sales. The song dips 5 in U.S. streams with 4.1 million logged in the week ending October 27. It also falls 7% in downloads sold in the same period.

David Guetta and Bebe Rexha’s “I’m Good (Blue)” jumps 5-2 on the Global Excl. U.S. chart; BLACKPINK’s “Pink Venom” drops to No. 3 after spending its first three weeks on the ranking at No. 1; Harry Styles’ “As It Was” retreats 3-4, following a record 13 weeks on top; and Manuel Turizo’s “La Bachata” lifts 6-5 to become his first top five hit on the chart.

Plus, Rema and Selena Gomez’s “Calm Down” ascends 11-10 on the Global Excl. Gomez lands her second single on the chart since the survey began, after “Ice Cream,” with BLACKPINK, ranked at its No. 6 high on the inaugural list in September 2020.

The chart, which began in September 2020, ranks songs based on streaming and sales activity culled from more than 200 territories around the world, as compiled by Luminate. The Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart comprises data from territories excluding the U.S.

Chart ranks are based on a weighted formula incorporating official-only streams on both subscription and ad-supported tiers of audio and video music services, as well as download sales, the latter of which reflect purchases from full-service digital music retailers from around the world, with sales from direct-to-consumer (D2C) sites excluded from the charts’ calculations.

“Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 52” by Bizarrap and Quevedo rules the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart for a fifth week, with 68.8 million streams and 800 downloads sold in territories outside the U.S. in the Aug. 12-18 tracking week.

Harry Styles’ “As It Was” holds at No. 2 on the Global Excl. U.S. chart, following a record 13 weeks at No. 1; Rosalía’s “Despechá” rises 5-3 for a new best; Bad Bunny and Chencho Corleone’s “Me Porto Bonito” slips 3-4, after reaching No. 2; and Bad Bunny’s “Tití Me Preguntó” drops to No. 5 from its No. 4 high.

The Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts (dated Aug. 27, 2022) will update on Billboard.com tomorrow (Aug. 23). For both charts, the top 100 titles are available to all readers on Billboard.com, while the complete 200-title rankings are visible on Billboard Pro, Billboard‘s subscription-based service. The two charts rank songs based on streaming and sales activity culled from more than 200 territories around the world, as compiled by Luminate. The Billboard Global 200 is inclusive of worldwide data and the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart comprises data from territories excluding the U.S.

Chart ranks are based on a weighted formula incorporating official-only streams on both subscription and ad-supported tiers of audio and video music services, as well as download sales, the latter of which reflect purchases from full-service digital music retailers from around the world, with sales from direct-to-consumer (D2C) sites excluded from the charts’ calculations.
