Wisin & Yandel Scores 16th No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay Chart with Rosalia-Collab “Besos Moja2”

It’s a Sweet Sixteen for Wisin & Yandel.

The Puerto Rican Grammy– and Latin Grammy-winning reggaeton duo have taken over Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart as the Rosalia-collaboration “Besos Moja2” rises 2-1 to lead the April 1-dated ranking.

The new champ hits the top after the song’s domination on Latin Rhythm Airplay, where it holds strong at No. 1 for a fourth week.

“Besos Moja2” is a contemporary reggaetón version of Wisin & Yandel’s “Besos Mojados” produced by Luny Tunes and originally released as part of the duo’s sixth studio album, La Revolución (No. 1 on Top Latin Albums, May 2009).

The new Rosalía-assisted version stems from the Puerto Rican’s 10th and farewell full-length set as a duo, La Última Misión, which debuted and peaked at No. 14 on Top Latin Albums and reached top 10 on Latin Rhythm Albums last October.

“Besos Moja2,” produced by the same team plus Los Legendarios and Noah Goldstein, stretches to No. 1 on Latin Airplay, after two weeks in the runner-up slot, with a 3% increase in audience impressions, to 12 million, earned in the U.S. in the week ending March 23, according to Luminate.

The collaboration gives Wisin & Yandel their 16th No. 1. The duo extends its record for the most champs among groups, ahead of Maná’s 11 leaders, and Zion & Lennox’s eight No. 1s. Among all acts, J Balvin continues to lead with 35 No. 1s. “Besos Moja2” arrives atop of the chart following Wisin & Yandel’s one week command through “Mayor Que Usted,” with Natti Natasha and Daddy Yankee, in September 2022.

Rosalía, meanwhile, secures her seventh No. 1, and sixth consecutive, after conquering Latin Airplay also for one week with the bachata “El Pañuelo,” with Romeo Santos on the survey dated February 25.

Natti Natasha Teams Up with Wisin & Los Legendarios to Release New Single “Tiempo”

Natti Natasha is making time for another hot collaboration…

The 35-year-old Dominican singer has teamed up with Wisin and Los Legendarios to release the new single “Tiempo.”

It’s the second collab for Natti Natasha and Wisin, following their

“Mayor Que Usted” collaboration alongside Daddy Yankee and Yandel, which currently sits at No. 1 on the Billboard Latin Airplay chart.

In true Wisin fashion, the track, produced by Stivenz Beats, is an infectious reggaetón banger with alt-funk elements.

In the lyrics, Wisin and Natti sing about losing track of time when they are together. A pink and black music video directed by Nuno Gomes shows both artists and a group of dancers portraying a real-life chess game.

“Working with Natti Natasha is always an honor, and she was the one I always thought of for this song, because she brings that combination of sensuality and energy that her voice has,” Wisin says in a statement.

Ozuna Earns 27th No. 1 on Billboard Latin Airplay Chart with DJ Snake-Collaboration “SG”

Ozuna is celebrating another massive hit…

The 30-year-old Puerto Rican singer and rapper’s collaboration “SG” with Lisa of BLACKPINK, Megan Thee Stallion and DJ Snake has reached No. 1 on the Billboard Latin Airplay chart.

The track rises from No. 3 to rule the April 2-dated survey.

It’s Ozuna,’s 27th champ and second of the year: “Emojis de Corazones,” with Wisin, Jhay Cortez, which also features Los Legendarios, arrived at the summit on the January 8-dated list.

Lisa of BLACKPINK and Meghan Thee Stallion earn their first No. 1s on the chart.

DJ Snake, who clocks his third straight No. 1, returns to lead the all-Latin genre tally after “Loco Contigo,” with J Balvin and Tyga, reigned for one week in November 2019.

The bilingual “SG” and its music video were officially released on October 22, 2021, via DJ Snake/Interscope. It didn’t, however, make its Latin Airplay appearance until four months later, when the track debuted at No. 37 on the February 19-dated ranking.

The song wraps a steady seven-week trek to No. 1 to lead the current chart with 8.4 million in audience impressions, up 26%, earned in the U.S. in the week ending March 27, according to Luminate, formerly MRC Data.

Both LISA and Meghan Thee Stallion concurrently score their first No. 1 on Latin Rhythm Airplay. Meanwhile, Ozuna captures his 26th champ and DJ Snake returns to the upper reaches with a third No. 1.

Bad Bunny Leads Pack of Latin American Music Awards Nominees with 10 Nods

It’s a Perfect 10 for Bad Bunny…

The nominees for the 2022 Latin American Music Awards have been revealed, with the 27-year-old Puerto Rican rapper, singer and songwriter leading the pack with 10 nods.

Among his nominations, Bad Bunny is nominated in three of the four top categories.

He’s up for Artist of the Year, Song of the Year for “Dákiti,” and Album of the Year for El Último Tour del Mundo.

Jhay Cortez, who appears on Bad Bunny’s “Dákiti,” follows with eight nominations.

The 28-year-old Puerto Rican singer and rapper is up for Artist of the Year and Favorite Artist – Male, among others.

Karol G is the top-nominated female, tied with J Balvin and Rauw Alejandro with seven nods each…

The 31-year-old Colombian singer is the sole female nominated in the Artist of the Year category. She’s also up for Album of the Year for KG0516.

J Balvin and Rauw Alejandro are both up for Artist of the Year and Song of the Year. J Balvin is nominated alongside Skrillex in the category for “In Da Getto,” while Rauw Alejandro is nominated for “Todo De Ti”

The forthcoming three-hour event will “pay tribute to today’s most influential and iconic Latin artists” in 26 categories, including favorite video and favorite social artist, selected by a committee of industry professionals who consider the quality, content, creativity and fan engagement.

In a highly competitive category, rising stars Gera MX, Ivan Cornejo, Jay Wheeler, Kali Uchis, Los Legendarios, María Becerra and Mariah Angeliq are up for new artist of the year.

This year’s nominees are based on key fan interactions with music, including streaming, sales, airplay and social activity tracked by Billboard through its data partners MRC Data and Next Big Sound for data covering the periods of February 6, 2021, through January 29, 2022.

Wisin Teams Up with Camilo & Los Legendarios for New Single “Buenos Días”

It’s a good day for Wisin…

The 43-year-old Puerto Rican reggaeton rapper, singer and record producer has joined voices with Camilo and Los Legendarios to release the new single “Buenos Días.”

Striking the perfect balance between pop and reggaeton, Wisin’s collab with Camilo could be called a swooning love song.

“Good morning, how nice that you are still by my side, what a surprise to wake up and see you wearing my shirt,” Camilo cheerfully sings.

Wisin jumps in the song’s chorus to backup Camilo rapping, “Just leave me your mouth, just leave me your body, what is given can’t be taken back.”

The track drops alongside a music video that features singer-songwriter Evaluna Montaner (Camilo’s wife) as Wisin’s daughter.

In the video, Camilo, who plays Evaluna’s boyfriend, is humorously finding ways to get along with his jealous father-in-law.

Wisin Earns 19th No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay Chart with “Fiel,” Featuring Los Legendarios & Jhay Cortez

Wisin has added another chart-topper to his resume…

The 42-year-old Puerto Rican reggaeton rapper, singer and record producer’s team-up with Los Legendarios and Jhay Cortez rises to No. 1 on Billboard‘s Latin Airplay chart dated June 12 in its sixth week.

The track rises with a 51% gain in audience impressions, to 8.9 million, earned in the week ending June 6, according to MRC Data. It earns both Los Legendarios and Cortez’s second leader.

Wisin adds a 19th No. 1 to his scorecard, the sixth-most in the history of the chart which launched in 1994.

“Fiel” was released on February 4, via La Base/WK and is part of Los Legendario’s third studio album, Los Legendarios 001. The duo, comprised of Marcos Ramírez and Víctor R. Torres, claimed its first top 10 on any Billboard albums chart when the 19-track set rose 13-9 on the Top Latin Albums chart dated May 8 (a No. 8 peak, May 28-dated list).

The pair previously scored a Latin Airplay No. 1 with “Mi Niña,” a Wisin-assisted collaboration, which also included Myke Towers.

As for Wisin, who takes his 19th leader, “Fiel” is his fourth consecutive No. 1, starting with “Gistro Amarillo,” with Ozuna (December 2020).

Beyond its Latin Airplay coronation, “Fiel” also tops Latin Rhythm Airplay, with an 8-1 surge.

Anitta Appears Alongside Maluma on Remix of Wisin, Los Legendarios & Myke Towers’ “Mi Niña”

Anitta adds some real Girl Power to the remix of a popular song…

The 27-year-old Brazilian singer-songwriter appears on the remix of Wisin, Los Legendarios and Myke Towers‘ reggaetón track “Mi Niña,” alongside Colombian singer-songwriter Maluma.

As in the original one, Wisin and Towers, with the addition of Maluma, sing about their girl and why the world seems to stop every time they see her. Showstopper Anitta kicks off the new track reminding everyone that she can light up any party from Brazil to Ibiza.

“Mi Niña Remix,” released on March 2, comes out six months after the original one, along with a music video shot in Miami and directed by Charlie Nelson.

Produced by Los Legendarios, the production duo comprised of Marcos Ramírez and Víctor R. Torres, “Mi Niña” hit No. 1 on Billboard‘s Latin Airplay Chart dated January 16. The track earned the producers their first No. 1 — and first entry — on any Billboard chart.

“As producers, this is our seventh No. 1 but as featured artists, this is our first,” Ramirez told Billboard. “We are very excited to see that validation from fans. To spend all those hours, all that work with so much passion and to see everybody enjoying your music is just a great feeling.”

Wisin Launches Own Record Label, La Base Music

Wisin is set to help new Latin artists…

The 41-year-old Puerto Rican reggaeton rapper, singer and record producer, one half of the Wisin & Yandel, has launched his own record label, La Base Music, in an effort to support up-and-coming Latin talent.

Wisin says he was inspired to become a resource for young talent and help foster their careers following his stints as a coach on reality television shows La Voz and La Banda.

“There is so much talent out on the streets and there are artists who don’t have the tools to achieve great things or don’t have any direction in their career,” says Wisin. “It was just a matter of time for me to do something like this and I have been working on creating a top-level studio that can compete with any other studio around the world.”

Headquartered in Wisin’s native Puerto Rico, La Base Music launches with new signees Chris Andrew and Abdiel Larralde, who will soon release new music under the label.

“Our new artists have potential and the hunger to grow,” adds Wisin. “That’s the most important thing for us here at La Base. Attitude is everything. I’m looking for people who want to grow but also listen. We are here with the intention of making good music. And it’s not just new artists we are collaborating with. We actually just finished Ozuna‘salbum at La Base and we’re almost done with Wisin & Yandel’sforthcoming album.”

La Base Music’s resident engineer and award-winning producers include Hyde Quimico and Los Legendarios who have worked with Latin superstars like Daddy Yankee, Ozuna and Reik.

Although La Base Music will be distributed by The Orchard via WK Records, Walter Kolm‘s recently-launched imprint (Kolm’s WK Entertainment manages Wisin), all artistic decisions will be taken independently.

“All the decisions and everything that has to do with our artists, I will be in charge of that,” Wisin explains.

Wisin says he doesn’t take this new venture lightly as it comes with great responsibility. “I’m grateful that life has given me the opportunity to become a resource for artists who maybe in three or four years will be great musicians. It’s very fulfilling and it makes me proud that I can still contribute to music in that way.
