Mariah Carey is ending the year with a bang Down Under

The 54-year-old half-Venezuelan American Grammy-winning singer reigns over Australia’s final chart of 2023 with “All I Want For Christmas Is You.”

Last week, “All I Want For Christmas Is You” was pipped for the Christmas No. 1 by Jack Harlow’s “Lovin On Me.”

By completing its chart climb, the hit from 1994 boasts a sixth successive year reaching No. 1.

The top five on the latest tally is rounded out by Brenda Lee’s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” (up 5-2 via Warner/Universal), Wham’s “Last Christmas” (up 4-3 via Sony), Michael Bublé’s “It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas” (up 10-4 via Reprise/Warner) and Ariana Grande’s “Santa Tell Me” (up 7-5 via Universal), respectively.

Bad Bunny Makes History with Artist of the Year Win at the MTV Video Music Awards

The 28-year-old Puerto Rican superstar was named Artist of the Year during Sunday’s Video Music Awards, becoming the first non-English-language performer to win the prize.

Bad BunnyBad Bunny was nominated for the honor alongside Drake, Ed Sheeran, Harry Styles, Jack Harlow, Lil Nas X and Lizzo. His hit song “Tití Me Preguntó” also received an MTV VMAs nomination this year for the Best Latin Award.

During the MTV telecast, Bad Bunny performed live from Yankee Stadium in New York as part of his World’s Hottest Tour. Other acts in the VMA performance lineup this year included Harlow, Nicki Minaj, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Blackpink, Panic! at the Disco, Anitta, Snoop Dogg, Eminem and Lizzo.

In May, Bad Bunny released his fourth studio album, “Un Verano Sin Ti,” which was the second all-Spanish-language record to debut atop the Billboard 200 chart in the United States, according to MTV. When it came out, Bad Bunny’s latest LP was also Spotify‘s most-streamed album of 2022.

Meanwhile, Anitta also made history at this year’s VMAs as she picked up her first American Moon Person.

The 29-year-old Brazilian singer-songwriter, whose won several MTV Europe Music Awards, won Best Latin for her viral hit song “Envolver,” becoming the first-ever Brazilian artist to take home an MTV Video Music Awards.

It was a highly competitive category, with Anitta competing against Bad Bunny, Daddy Yankee, J Balvin, Becky G and Karol G.

Kali Uchis to Perform at San Francisco’s Outside Lands Festival

The 27-year-old Colombian American singer/songwriter will perform at this year’s Outside Lands.

Produced by Another Planet Entertainment, Superfly and Starr Hill Presents, Outside Lands will return to Golden Gate Park from August 5 to 7.

In addition to Uchis, this year’s lineup will also include Phoebe Bridgers, Weezer, Jack Harlow, Illenium, Lil Uzi Vert, Kali UchisDisclosure and Mitski.

Returning this year after an incredibly successful debut in 2021 is the SOMA Tent. Inspired by underground clubs and late nights, SOMA Tent features over nine hours of performances each day and is the perfect place to dance the night (or day) away. This year headliners include San Francisco mainstay and Dirtybird Records founder Claude VonStroke, legendary German house and techno DJ and producer Dixon and Los Angeles producer TOKiMONSTA.

Also returning this year is Grass Lands, which was the first curated cannabis experience at a major American music festival when it premiered in 2018. According to organizers, Grass Lands has become a “much loved” part of the Outside Lands experience. Grass Lands showcases the latest and most innovative products from the growing cannabis industry and is a place where people can learn about and enjoy cannabis in all its forms.

Last year, the festival made its return after taking a year off due to COVID-19. The 2021 edition played out over Halloween weekend with sets from J Balvin and Tyler, the Creator.

Weekend passes go on sale Wednesday at 10 a.m. PT on the Outside Lands website, with three-day general admission starting at $399, and three-day VIP passes at $799.

Bia to Perform at This Year’s Revolve Festival

Fashion retailer Revolve is partnering with Los Angeles hospitality company The h.wood Group to bring today’s biggest stars to Coachella’s most coveted party, including the 30-year-old half-Puerto Rican singer/rapper.

BIARevolve Festival will be returning to La Quinta, Calif., on April 16 and 17 for its fifth year after a three-year hiatus.

In addition to Bia, other artists set to take the stage on Saturday (April 16) are Ty Dolla $ign and Jessie Murph, plus some special guest performances before Sunday (April 17), when Jack HarlowLatto, Iann Dior and Mills take the stage.

Willow will also be joining Sunday’s event as a special guest appearance.

Both days of the Revolve Festival will also include DJ sets by DJ Tay James and Zack Bia, Brittany Sky and Angel + Dren on Saturday, and Devin Lucien, Pookie | Honey and Angel + Dren on Sunday.

For nightlife enthusiasts, The h.wood Group will also be hosting a “Bootsy Bellows After Party” on Saturday night.

Additionally, Revolve Festival guests will have access to a number visually immersive, social media-ready installations, including experiences with partners Venmo and Spotify. Hawkers will be onsite as the official sunglasses partner.

Upon arrival, guests will be treated to organic pressed juices from popular Los Angeles-based health market Erewhon, delivered via Postmates, the official food delivery partner for Revolve Festival, and cocktails provided by Kendall Jenner’s 818 Tequila and tequila seltzers by the ready-to-drink partner, Onda. Daring Foods and a Good American ice cream truck will also on site, as well as drinks from exclusive energy partner, Celsius. Additional onsite partners include Zip and Pley Beauty.

The Recording Academy has announced more performers for the 64th Grammy Awards program, with the 20-year-old half-Colombian American actress/singer among those set to take the stage.

In addition to Zegler and Platt, recently confirmed performers include Jon Batiste, Foo Fighters, H.E.R, Nas and Chris Stapleton. Additionally, Grammy winner Cynthia Erivo and current nominee Leslie Odom Jr. will perform.

Anuel AA to Compete in NBA All-Star Celebrity Game

The 29-year-old Puerto Rican rapper/singer will compete in next week’s NBA All-Star Celebrity Game.

Anuel AA, who is a sponsor of Women’s National Superior Basketball League in Puerto Rico, will join Machine Gun Kelly, Jack Harlow and Quavo to showcase their ball skills.

Others set to compete include Kane Brown, Jimmie Allen, Tiffany Haddish, Ranveer Singh, Nyjah Huston, and Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb.

Quavo, a founding member of rap trio Migos, is a veteran of the run-and-gun “Celebrity” game, with four previous appearances under his belt.

The two teams will line up next Friday (Feb. 18) at Wolstein Center in Cleveland, and are respectively coached by retired NBA superstars Dominique Wilkins and Bill Walton.

The all-celebrity exhibition game has been regular fixture in the annual NBA All-Star Weekend since 2003, and will be televised and streamed by ESPN from 7 p.m. ET.

DJ Khaled and friends will headline the State Farm All-Star Saturday Night performances, with his support crew to be unveiled in the days ahead.

Kid Cudi to Co-Headline This Year’s Governors Ball at New York’s Citi Field

The 37-year-old half-Mexican American singer/rapper is set to co-headline the 2022 Governors Ball festival at Citi Field in Queens, New York.

The event will also feature sets from Migos, Jack Harlow, Louis the Child, Black Pumas, Skepta, Beabadoobee, Flume, Roddy Ricch, YG, Tove Lo, Denzel Curry, Playboi Carti, Glass Animals, Kaytranada, Clairo, Becky G, Jazmine Sullivan, Japanese Breakfast, 100 Gecs and many more.

Tickets for the event go on sale on Thursday, January 27 at noon ET on the event’s website; a special presale for three-day and one-day passes and VIP tickets will open exclusively for Citi cardmembers from 10 a.m. ET on Tuesday (Jan. 25) through 11:59 a.m. ET on Thursday (Jan. 27).

In a release announcing this year’s event, promoters Founders Entertainment also said that they’ll be donating $25,000 to the New York City Mayor’s Fund for the victims of January’s devastating Bronx apartment building fire that killed 17 and injured dozens of others; attendees can also support the victims of the blaze by donation to the relief effort via The Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City.

Kid Cudi Volunteers to Collaborate with Lil Nas X

The 37-year-old half-Mexican American rapper, singer, and actor has volunteered to collaborate with Lil Nas X.

On Wednesday (Sept. 1), Lil Nas X revealed the star-studded track list for his highly anticipated debut album Montero, which will feature collaborations with Megan Thee StallionElton JohnJack HarlowDoja Cat and Miley Cyrus.

When one Twitter user called out the lack of Black male guest artists, LNX responded in his defense on Twitter, “Maybe a lot of them just don’t wanna work with me.”

Durand Bernarr, Breland and more Black male artists eagerly flooded his replies to assure him this wasn’t the case, and it looks like Cudder has his back, too. The Man on the Moon rapper reshared Lil Nas X’s explanation and wrote back to him, “N—a ill work w u and frolic in rose gardens w u singin about my pain,” while referencing the Garden of Eden-esque, SpongeBob SquarePants-inspired painting that’s being used as the album artwork.

“U heard it here first everybody,” Lil Nas X wrote, “Kid cudi x lil nas for montero deluxe.”

Montero is set to be released on September 17. It remains unclear if and when a deluxe version of the LP will be released.

Omar Apollo to Perform at Atlanta’s Music Midtown Festival

The 24-year-old Mexican-American singer-songwriter and entrepreneur will perform at this year’s Music Midtown Festival in Atlanta, which is getting a reboot.

The popular downtown gathering that took a year off in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic is ready to roar back this fall with a lineup packed with superstar voices.

Among the headliners for the September 18-19 event at Piedmont Park are Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Brothers, Maroon 5, 21 Savage and DaBaby.

Other acts scheduled to appearinclude: Megan Thee Stallion, Machine Gun Kelly, Adrian Quesada’s Black Pumas, Jack Harlow, AJR, Yungblud, Bleachers, Dashboard Confessional, Surfaces, Lauv, 24KGoldn, Latto, Oliver Tree and Tierra Whack.

Tickets purchased for the 2020 edition will be honored and organizers said that a limited number of general admission passes are on sale now before the prices go up on Friday (June 4) at 10:00 am ET.

The summer’s festival scene is beginning to heat up following last year’s total shutdown, though at press time Music Midtown had not announced whether this summer’s gathering will be at Piedmont’s full, pre-pandemic 70,000-person capacity. Other events, such as Chicago’s Lollapalooza, have said they will return at full capacity, though attendees will need to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or, for those not vaccinated, a negative test result within 24 hours of attendance.
