The 52-year-old Puerto Rican singer’s “Un Amor Eterno” shoots to the top of Billboard’s Latin Airplaychart with a 9-1 burst on the list dated March 20.
The new achievement breaks him out of a tie with Prince Royce (Juanes and Yandel) to become the tropical act with the third most No. 1s, standing behind Romeo Santos (17) and Carlos Vives (15).
“Un Amor Eterno” rallied to the top with a 58% increase in audience impressions, to 10 million, earned in the week ending March 14.
The song scored its biggest gains in the tracking week on New York’s WSKQ (up 854,000 in audience) and WPAT (up 626,000), as well as San Juan, Puerto Rico’s WZNT (up 610,000) and Los Angeles’ KLVE, the latter of which put the song in prominent rotation for the first time (up 387,000).
The 44-year-old Colombian singer/songwriter is making new music.
Shakira took to social media to share a behind-the-scenes photo of her in the recording studio. “Cooking something,” she captioned the pic, in which she’s seen wearing a burgundy jogger set that perfectly matches her newly dyed red hair.
Fans raided the comments section with hopeful messages such as “finally, we can’t wait,” “every day closer, we’re waiting for you” and “S12 is coming,” referring to possibly her 12th studio album following 2017’s El Dorado.
Additionally, Shakira is celebrating her 15th No. 1 on the Billboard Latin Airplay chart with the Black Eyed Peas-assisted “Girl Like Me,” which hit the top of the list this week.
“I just found out we’re #1 at US Latin Billboard and I’m super grateful to all of you for all the support you’ve given to me and @BEP with this song, it would be nothing without you–love you guys so much!” she said in a video.
The 20-year-old Colombian reggaeton singer has entered into exclusive multi-year worldwide publishing agreement with Sony Music Publishing’s Latin division.
Turizo’s brother Julian Turizo has also signed an agreement.
Manuel Turizo, signed to Sony US Latin, broke out with 2017’s “Una Lady Como Tu” and has released a string of hits since, co-written with brother Julián. Most recently, “La Nota,” featuring Myke Towers and Rauw Alejandro, peaked at No. 3 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart, and “Mala Costumbre,” with Wisin and Yandel, peaked at No. 4 on the Global Ex US chart.
They’re the latest in a string of high-profile Latin signings for Sony since the beginning of the pandemic.
In the past nine months, the publisher also scooped up Myke Towers, who is dominating global charts; Argentine rising stars Nicki Nicole and Cazzu;
Spanish star C. Tangana; Colombian producer Sky; Puerto Rican rapper Jay Wheeler; and multi-Latin Grammy winner Kany García.
“It’s been a hugely prolific time,” says Jorge Mejía, president & CEO of Sony Music Publishing for Latin America and US Latin. “There are many possibilities to sign and discover.”
Those possibilities have considerable broadened since streaming has opened up the platforms available to Latin music. Acts that once would have been considered niche or regional, for example, are now finding broad audiences that translate into millions of views.
“It’s different in that what we consider Latin music today has evolved quite a bit,” says Mejía. “Manuel and his brother Julián have an urban bent, and Nicki and Bizarrap come from Argentina with a trap bent. But they’re not different in that we believe in them at the end of the day.”
Anitta adds some real Girl Power to the remix of a popular song…
The 27-year-old Brazilian singer-songwriter appears on the remix of Wisin, Los Legendariosand Myke Towers‘ reggaetón track “Mi Niña,” alongside Colombian singer-songwriter Maluma.
As in the original one, Wisin and Towers, with the addition of Maluma, sing about their girl and why the world seems to stop every time they see her. Showstopper Anitta kicks off the new track reminding everyone that she can light up any party from Brazil to Ibiza.
“Mi Niña Remix,” released on March 2, comes out six months after the original one, along with a music video shot in Miami and directed by Charlie Nelson.
Produced by Los Legendarios, the production duo comprised of Marcos Ramírez and Víctor R. Torres, “Mi Niña” hit No. 1 on Billboard‘s Latin Airplay Chart dated January 16. The track earned the producers their first No. 1 — and first entry — on any Billboard chart.
“As producers, this is our seventh No. 1 but as featured artists, this is our first,” Ramirez told Billboard. “We are very excited to see that validation from fans. To spend all those hours, all that work with so much passion and to see everybody enjoying your music is just a great feeling.”
The Colombian hit maker, music producer, artist and singer songwriter, whose real name is Daniel Echavarria Oviedo, has earned his first Top 10 on Billboard’s Latin Rhythm Airplay chart, as his collaboration with Karol G and Danny Ocean “Miedito o Qué” reaches a new high.
The trio’s collaboration ascends 15-8 on the chart with 6 million in audience impressions, up 57%.
The Latin pop-rhythmic tune earns Karol her 10th top 10, while Ocean claims his first.
The song also grows 26-14 on Latin Airplay and re-enters Hot Latin Songs at No. 33 (both new peaks).
The 29-year-old Colombian singer and songwriter has notched her ninth No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart dated February 13, as “Bichota” climbs 5-1.
The female anthem pushes to the top thanks to a 23% spike in audience impressions, to 12 million, earned in the week ending February 7, according to MRC Data.
The audience improvement also makes the song just the second No. 1 by a solo woman, unaccompanied by any other artist, to reach No. 1 this decade — and both are by Karol G.
Greatest gainers for the song in the tracking week were: WODA San Juan, P.R. (up 392,000 in audience); WPAT New York (up 347,000); WSKQ New York (up 307,000); and KAMA Houston (up 268,000).
Before “Bichota,” Karol G previously reached the Latin Airplay summit completely solo with “Ay, Dios Mío!” (October 10, 2020), both as a female soloist. She’s also secured a spot at the penthouse seven other times, all via collaborative efforts, dating back to “Mi Cama,” with J Balvin, featuring Nicky Jam. The triple-billed act spent one week atop the ranking in August 2018.
Karol G is the sixth female soloist to reach No. 1 on Latin Airplay with a song unaccompanied by another act since 2010.

She’s only 17, but Angela Aguilar is already making her mark in the Latin music world…
The collaboration between Christian Nodal and the 17-year-old Mexican American singer, “Dime Como Quieres,” has risen 2-1 on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Airplay chart dated January 30.
In the process, Aguilar becomes the youngest female act on a lead role to achieve the feat. She concurrently picks up her first No. 1 on any Latin airplay chart while Nodal captures his 10th on Latin Airplay.
“The truth is that I received the news in the most quotidian way,” Aguilar tells Billboard. “I was having breakfast with my family, huevos en salsa, surrounded by many dogs. It was a very nice surprise, a great privilege, a great honor that I was not expecting to receive at such a young age.”
“Dime Como Quieres” jumps from the runner-up slot with 13% increase in audience impressions, to 8 million, earned in the week ending January 24, according to MRC Data. The song, which debuted in the top 20 in November and earned Aguilar her first entry, leads the list in its 10th frame. It’s Nodal’s fourth consecutive No. 1 and 10th overall.
“Chris and I had worked together on the Jaripeo Sin Fronterastour, my father invited him to open the concert for us,” Aguilar remembers. “We have known each other for four or five years now so it was a genuine experience: a friend asking a friend to record a song. He sent my father a song telling him that something was missing from his album and that he believed that something was me. So, we got in touch, changed a few arrangements but always respecting his expectations. I think it changed how people of this generation see music.”
Notably, Aguilar is just the sixth female act on a lead role to rule Regional Mexican Airplaysince the chart’s inception in 1994. She joins Selena, Pilar Montenegro, Alicia Villarreal, Jenni Rivera and Graciela Beltrán.
Aguilar, likewise, takes the baton as just the second female act on a lead role to pick-up her first No. 1 with first entry. Pilar Montenegro captured her first leader on a first try with “Quítame Ese Hombre” in March 2002.
At 17-years-old, she concurrently is the youngest female act in a lead role to reach No. 1 on Regional Mexican Airplay. The late Selena secured her first Regional Mexican No. 1 with the five-week leader “No Me Queda Más” in 1994, she was 23, three months prior to her death.
Here’s a look at the female leaderboard:
Artist, Title, Debut/Peak Date, Age Selena, “No Me Queda Más,” Dec. 3, 1994, 23-years-old Pilar Montenegro, “Quítame Ese Hombre,” March 23, 2002, 29-years-old Alicia Villarreal, “Soy Tu Mujer,” August 14, 2004, 32-years-old Jenni Rivera, “De Contrabando,” June 3, 2006, 37-years-old Graciela Beltrán, “Es Cosa De El,” May 5, 2007, 32 -ears-old Ángela Aguilar, “Dime Como Quieres,” with Christian Nodal, Jan. 30, 2021, 17-years-old
About the collaboration Aguilar adds: “Not being able to see each other or record together and brainstorm ideas about the video was a bit challenging. Due to the current situation, I was in Zacatecas and he was in Guadalajara. It was a bit difficult because, especially for a collaboration, one wants to have that energy, that vibe, and feel that the job is well done, and at a distance it was defiant.”
The 26-year-old Colombian singer, songwriter, and producer continues his dominance on the Billboard charts with “Vida de Rico,” as the song hits No. 1 on the Latin Airplay chart dated January 30.
The song surpasses its previous No. 4 peak.

“Vida de Rico” surges ahead with 13.74 million in audience impressions, up 34% earned in the week ending January 24, according to MRC Data.
Camilo secures his third chart-topper, after “Tattoo,” with Rauw Alejandro (September, 2020, one week) and “Si Me Dices Que Si,” with Reik and Farruko (June 2020, one week).
Only three months after releasing “Como Tu Me Querias,” the Puerto Rican singer has joined voices with De La Ghettofor a saucy remix.

“Como Tu Me Querias” is an infectious, uptempo reggaeton with hints of old-schoolperreoand dancehall melodies.
The music video, filmed by Mimi Labisi of Stellarhead in LA, shows both artists’ onscreen chemistry in a futuristic and vibrant setting. Chesca is also seen flaunting her killer dance moves.

Elsewhere, “De Vuelta” dips 13-14 on the all-metric Hot Latin Songs chart with declines in digital sales and streams. On Tropical Airplay, however, it remains at No. 1 for a third week.
