Peso Pluma & Eslabon Armado’s “Ella Baila Sola” Becomes First-Ever No. 1 Regional Mexican Song on Billboard’s Streaming Songs Chart

Life is but a stream for Peso Pluma…

The 23-year-old Mexican singer, wrapper and songwriter’s Eslabon Armado-collaboration “Ella Baila Sola” rises to No. 1 on Billboard’s Streaming Songs chart dated May 13.

It’s the first regional Mexican song to top Streaming Songs in the tally’s 10-year history.

In the April 28-May 4 tracking week, “Ella Baila Sola” earned 34.6 million official U.S. streams, a 2% increase, according to Luminate.

The song is the first No. 1 on Streaming Songs for both acts.

For Peso Pluma, it’s his first in his premiere appearance on the ranking, while Eslabon Armado had charted once before with the No. 43-peaking “Jugaste y Sufri,” featuring DannyLux, in October 2021.

“Ella Baila Sola” marks the first Streaming Songs ruler either predominantly or completely in Spanish since Bad Bunny and Chencho Corleone’s “Me Porto Bonito” crowned the survey for two weeks – July 30, 2022, and August 6, 2022.

Peso Pluma boasts two tunes in Streaming Songs’ top 10, with “Ella Baila Sola” joined by his Yng Lvcas collaboration “La Bebe” at No. 5 (21.6 million streams).

Concurrently, “Ella Baila Sola” reigns on Hot Latin Songs for a fifth week and remains at No. 4 on the all-format Billboard Hot 100.

The song’s parent album, Eslabon Armado’s Desvelado, also debuts at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 with 44,000 equivalent album units earned.

Keityn Named Songwriter of the Year at ASCAP Latin Music Awards

The Colombian songwriter and musical artist who co-wrote Karol G’s “Provenza” and Shakira and Rauw Alejandro’s “Te Felicito,” was named songwriter of the year at the 2023 ASCAP Latin Music Awards.

“Me Porto Bonito” — performed by Bad Bunny & Chencho Corleone and co-written by ASCAP songwriter Master Joe — won song of the year, while Universal Music Publishing Music Group took the publisher of the year honor.

Winners at the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers’ annual awards — which recognize the songwriters, producers and publishers behind Latin music’s biggest hits — where announced on May 3 at an invitation-only event in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

A first-time ASCAP winner, Keityn (real name: Kevyn Mauricio Cruz Moreno) has also been behind chart-topping hits such as “Tusa” by Karol G and Nicki Minaj, Maluma‘s “Hawái” and J Balvin and Tainy’s “Agua,” to name a few.

In October 2021, he signed an exclusive deal with Warner Music Latina, and since then, he has released songs as a performer like “El Egoísmo” with Mike Bahía and Dekko, “Anoche” and “Nueva Versión.”

Song of the year honoree “Me Porto Bonito” — a reggaetón track infused with Latin pop and sandungueo, in which two men promise to behave nicely if the woman they’re after asked them to — spent 20 weeks at the top of Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart. It also reached No. 1 on Latin Airplay, peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts, and hit the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100.

Universal Music Publishing Music Group was recognized as publisher of the year for hits including “Después de la Playa,” “Efecto,” “La Corriente,” “Me Porto Bonito,” “Moscow Mule,” “Neverita,” “Ojitos Lindos,” “Party,” “Tarot,” “Tití Me Preguntó” and “Un Ratito” — all part of Bad Bunny’s uber-successful Un Verano Sin Ti, the second album in Spanish to ever top the Billboard 200.

Other 2023 ASCAP Latin Music Award-winning songwriters include Daddy Yankee (“Remix”), Jhayco (“Sensual Bebé”), Marc Anthony (“Mala”), Marco Antonio Solís (“Si Te Pudiera Mentir”), GALE (her first ASCAP Latin Award for “Ley Seca”) and Lin-Manuel Miranda (“Dos Oruguitas”).

Chencho Corleone Signs Global Record Deal with Sony Music Latin

Chencho Corleone is entering a new musical phase…

The 44-year-old Puerto Rican singer, songwriter and record producer has launched a “new musical phase” by signing a global record deal with Sony Music Latin, the company tells Billboard.

The agreement comes on the heels of Chencho’s upcoming debut album as a solo artist; he was previously one-half of the duo Plan B, who rose to fame in the early 2000s.

“I’m very happy with what we’ve been creating and what’s coming up,” said the Puerto Rican hitmaker in a statement. “I’m sure my fans will enjoy this new musical phase, adding another milestone in my career.”

Corleone is set to release the first single from the set, “Un Cigarrillo,” on Thursday (May 4) along with a music video directed by Jessy Terrero. “I had the opportunity to sit down with production and the team to create a visual concept that projects and marks the new solo path at the beginning,” Chencho added in his statement.

The deal comes amid a career spike for Corleone. Last year, he scored his first No. 1 on Billboard‘s Hot Latin Songs chart thanks to “Me Porto Bonito” with Bad Bunny, which ruled the tally for 20 weeks. He also notched his first No. 1 on Billboard‘s Latin Airplay chart with his feature on Rauw Alejandro‘s “Desesperados.”

About the signing, Sony Music U.S. Latin president Alex Gallardo, added, “We’re extremely happy to welcome Chencho Corleone to the Sony Music family. Chencho has proved to be one of the leaders in his genre with his distinctive style and powerhouse collaborations, reaffirming his position worldwide. Feid Among the Headlining Acts for This Year’s Sueños Music Festival

The 30-year-old Colombian singer and songwriter will be among the headlining acts at the second edition of Sueños Music Festival.

In addition to Feid, headlining acts include Wisin y Yandel, Grupo Firme and Nicky Jam, who will all grace the stage on the weekend of May 27 and 28 in Chicago’s Grant Park.

The exclusively all-Latin music festival — which highlights regional Mexican and urbano powerhouse performers in the same roster — will also host reggaeton icon Ivy Queen, as well as Becky G, Eladio Carrion, Chencho Corleone, Junior H, Gera MX, Ryan Castro, Young Miko, Pao Pao and more.

From the founders of Mexico’s Baja Beach Fest, Sueños made its debut in 2022 with headlining acts J Balvin, Ozuna, and Farruko. Returning acts include Puerto Rican rapper Myke Towers, Dominican dembow purveyor El Alfa, as well as reggaeton pioneers Wisin y Yandel who will be headlining for a second year in a row.

“We’re thrilled to be coming back to Chicago for our second annual Sueños festival,” Aaron Ampudia and Chris Den Uijl, co-founders of Sueños, told Billboard Español in an email. “Last year was such a moment, you could feel the energy and excitement from fans no matter where you were at in the festival. It just felt like we were meant to be there, celebrating Latin music and culture with Chicago’s thriving Latino community – and this year we’re bringing even more.”

Wisin y Yandel kicked off their farewell tour La Última Misión last year, while showcasing their latest 2022 album of the same name. In December, the dynamic duo broke their own record at Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot (a.k.a. El Choli) with a series of 14 homecoming shows, which included a New Year’s Eve performance, the first time ever the iconic venue held a show on said date.

Feid, who entered the Billboard 200 chart in October for his successful (and leaked!) LP Feliz Cumpleaños Ferxxo: Te Pirateamos el Álbum, is poised to make an impact in 2023. Late last year, Feid embarked on his first headlining U.S. tour, produced by Live Nation, selling out numerous dates.

The Mexican band Grupo Firme, who has been elevating norteña music to higher grounds, made a splash at last summer at Baja Beach Fest in Rosarito when the group surprised audiences with its performance of “Cada Quien” alongside Medellín superstar Maluma.

Bad Bunny Tops Billboard Global 200 Artists & Billboard Global Excl. U.S. Artists Year-End Charts

Bad Bunny is this year’s global star…

The 28-year-old Puerto Rican superstar, who tops Billboard’s Top Artists list for 2022, finishes the year at No. 1 on both the Billboard Global 200 Artists and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. Artists roundup.

Though already omnipresent on the two global charts with material from his pair of 2020 releases, 2022’s Un Verano Sin Ti secured his No. 1 spot.

All 23 songs from the album debuted on the May 21-dated rankings and logged a combined 81 weeks in the Billboard Global 200’s top 10 between then and the end of the 2022 tracking period.

Bad Bunny scores 12 songs on the year-end Billboard Global 200 chart and 10 on the corresponding Global Excl. U.S. list, taking up more than 10% of the year-end global rankings.

He is followed by Latin artists Rauw Alejandro, Karol G, Farruko and Chencho Corleone in the top 30 of both artist rankings.

Billboard’s year-end music recaps represent aggregated metrics for each artist, title, label and music contributor on the weekly charts dated November 20, 2021 through Nov. 12, 2022.

The rankings for Luminate-based recaps reflect equivalent album units, airplay, sales or streaming during the weeks that the titles appeared on a respective chart during the tracking year. Any activity registered before or after a title’s chart run isn’t considered in these rankings.

That methodology details, and the November-November time period, account for some of the difference between these lists and the calendar-year recaps that are independently compiled by Luminate.

Carolina Gaitán & Her “Encanto” Cast Mates Rank No. 1 on YouTube’s Top 10 Songs of the Year List

Carolina Gaitán is celebrating a charming success…

YouTube has revealed its top 10 songs of the year, with the 38-year-old Colombian actress and singer’s single with her Encanto cast mates, “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” topping the list.

The song, by Gaitán, Mauro Castillo, Adassa, Rhenzy Feliz, Diane Guerrero, Stephanie Beatriz and the Encanto cast (all singing as the characters that they voice in the movie), topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for five weeks back in February.

Jessica Darrow, Gaitan’s cast mate, comes in at No. 3 with another hit Encanto track.

The 27-year-old Cuban American actress/singer’s “Surface Pressure,” which she performed as her character (Luisa Madrigal) in the animated film, peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 3 on the charts in the UK.

It was a big year for Latin music on YouTube, as both Bad Bunny and Karol G had two songs each on YouTube’s top 10 list.

The 28-year-old Puerto Rican superstar’s “Tití Me Preguntó” came in at No. 4 while his Chencho Corleone collaboration “Me Porto Bonito” was No. 6.

The 31-year-old Colombian singer’s Becky G duet “Mamiii” came in at No. 7 while her sultry “Provenza” hit No. 9.

The songs that appear on the annual YouTube include streams from the official music video, lyric videos and user-generated content that uses the full official song, and cover the period from January 1, 2022 to November 15, 2022. Its lists are restricted to two songs for each artist or album.

YouTube’s rankings don’t end there. The streaming giant also shares its lists for top trending videos, top shorts, top creators, breakout creators, ads, and more.

NBC and E! have announced this year’s People’s Choice Awards nominations, with the 28-year-old Puerto Rican rapper and singer earning seven nods.

Bad Bunny will compete for Concert Tour of 2022, Latin Artist of 2022, Male Artist of 2022 and Social Celebrity of 2022.

He’s also up for Song of 2022 for his hit single “Me Porto Bonito”with Chencho Corleone, Album of 2022 for Un Verano Sin Ti, and Collaboration Song of 2022 for “Party” with Bad Bunny and Rauw Alejandro, a two-time nominee.

Selena Gomez is the top Latina nominee this year…

The 30-year-old Mexican American actress/singer received four nods, including Social Celebrity of 2022, Comedy TV Star of 2022 and Female TV Star of 2022 for her work on Only Murders in the Building, and Music Video of 2022 for “Let Somebody Go,” her song with Coldplay.

In addition to Rauw, two-time nominees include Jennifer Lopez, Camila Cabello and Karol G.

One-time nominees include Rafael Nadal, Brent Rivera, Anitta, Shakira, Sebastian Yatra, Rosalia, Becky G and Oscar Isaac.

Saturday Night Live cast member Kenan Thompson will return to host this year’s People’s Choice Awards, marking his second consecutive ceremony.

Voting is now open and fans worldwide can vote for their favorite nominee in each of the 40 categories representing movies, television, music and pop culture.

The 2022 People’s Choice Awards will air simultaneously on NBC and E! on Tuesday, December 6 at 9:00 pm ET/PT from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, CA.

The nominations for the MTV Europe Music Awards 2022 have been announced, with the 28-year-old Spanish singer/songwriter earning the most nominations of any Latinx artist.

Rosalia has earned four MTV EMAs nods this year, including Best Artist and Best Song for “Despechá.

Bad Bunny’s global domination continues, earning the most nods among men…

The 28-year-old Puerto Rican superstar is nominated for Best Collaboration for his single “Me Porto Bonito,” featuring Chencho Corleone, who has earned two nods – his first-ever MTV EMAs nominations.

Shakira has earned two nods, including Best Collaboration for her single with Rauw Alejandro, “Te Felicito.”

Stephen Sanchez has earned his first-ever MTV EMA nods…

The 19-year-old Latino Americam “Until I Found You” singer earned two nods, including one for Best New (Artist).

Other Latino nominees include Omar Apollo, J Balvin, Becky G, Anitta and Rauw Alejandro.

Düsseldorf will be the city hosting the MTV EMAs 2022 at PSD Bank Dome in Germany. The award show will take place on November 13 live across the globe on MTV and made available the next day on Paramount+ and Pluto TV.

Bad Bunny Replaces Himself at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs Chart with “Titi Me Preguntó”

Bad Bunny is flip-flopping…

The 28-year-old Puerto Rican superstar has replaced himself at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart as “Titi Me Preguntó” rises from No. 2 (after 20 nonconsecutive weeks in the runner-up slot).

It’s the third song from Bad Bunny’s No. 1 album Un Verano Sin Ti to top the all-metric tally. It bumps the set’s second No. 1, “Me Porto Bonito,” down to No. 2 after 20 straight weeks on top.

“Titi Me Preguntó” rises to the summit boosted by gains in streams and digital downloads. The song earned 15.3 million U.S. official streams, up 2%, in the U.S. in the tracking week ending October 6, according to Luminate.

The track also sold 1,000 downloads, a 4% gain, in the same tracking period. Plus, at radio, “Titi Me Pregunto” earned 7.1 million audience impressions, down 1%, earned in the week ending October 9.

“Titi Me Pregunto” trades places with “Me Porto Bonito,” with Chencho Corleone, for the No. 1 spot after the latter’s 20 weeks in charge. The last artist to replace himself at No. 1? Bad Bunny, when “Moscow Mule” ceded the throne after its one-week reign and “Me Porto Bonito” began its command (May 28-dated survey). Thus, for the last 22 weeks, since the May 21 chart, only songs by Bad Bunny have been No. 1.

Further, as “Titi Me Pregunto” lands in the penthouse in its 22nd week, it marks an exceptionally slow climb to the top. Only seven songs, including “Titi Me Pregunto” have taken at least 22 weeks to reach No. 1. The slowest trek to the top was tallied by both Marco Antonio Solis’ “Mas Que Tu Amigo” and Azul Azul’s “La Bomba,” when each took a leisurely 32 weeks to No. 1 in 2004 and 2001, respectively.

“Titi Me Pregunto” gives Bad Bunny his 12th No. 1 on Hot Latin Songs. He breaks from a tie with Marco Antonio Solis, Ricky Martin, and Shakira for the fourth-most since the chart launched in 1986. Here’s a look at the scoreboard:

Elsewhere, “Titi Me Pregunto” rebounds 16-13 on the overall Billboard Hot 100 chart, after its No. 5 debut and peak in May.

“Titi Me Pregunto” is the third single from Bad Bunny’s No. 1 album Un Verano Sin Ti. The set continues its No. 1 ruling with 22 weeks (and counting) on Top Latin Albums and 13 weeks on the all-genre Billboard 200 – the most for any Latin album.

Bad Bunny is still behaving well… And, he’s earning a place in Latin music history.

The 28-year-old Puerto Rican superstar and Chencho Corleone’s “Me Porto Bonito” has logged a milestone 20th week at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart dated October 8, becoming the 12th song to spend at least 20 weeks atop the tally in its 36-year history.

The song’s 20th week at No. 1 benefits from 8 million U.S. audience impressions earned in the week ending Sept. 29 (up 18%), according to Luminate.

Meanwhile, though it dips 4% in streams to 12 million earned in the week ending September 29, it holds strong at No. 1 on the Latin Streaming Songs chart and moves 4-2 on the overall Streaming Songs chart.

On the sales front, “Me Porto Bonito” falls 14%, to 1,000 downloads sold, in the same tracking period.

As it drops 1-2 on Latin Digital Song Sales, it cedes the No. 1 spot to another one of Bad Bunny’s songs: “MIA,” featuring Drake — which last took over atop the chart for one week in October 2018.

As mentioned, “Me Porto Bonito” joins 11 other tracks that have held strong at No. 1 on Hot Latin Songs for at least 20 weeks or more since the chart’s inception in 1986.

Iglesias did it with “Bailando” (41 in 2014-15, featuring Descemer Bueno and Gente de Zona) and “El Perdon” (30 in 2015, with Nicky Jam), while J Balvin ruled with “RITMO (Bad Boys for Life)” (24, 2020; with Black Eyed Peas) and “Ginza” (22, 2015).

Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s “Despacito,” featuring Justin Bieber, has the most weeks at No. 1 on Hot Latin Songs, with 56 weeks in 2017-18.

Elsewhere, “Me Porto Bonito” rebounds to No. 4 on Latin Airplay for a second week (7-4). The track led the all-genre tally for one week on the Aug. 20-dated ranking.
