Feid Teams Up with Sean Paul on New Single “Niña Bonita”

Feid is having a sweet moment…

The 30-year-old Colombian singer and songwriter has joined voices with Sean Paul to release the new single “Niña Bonita.

FeidProduced by Sky Rompiendo, the single begins with the sound of a cassette player and dreamy guitar riffs, as Feid single, “Someone like me was not going to fall in love” — setting the tone for ultra-sweet bop.

Lacing Feid’s signature romantic reggaetón sound and Sean Paul’s sensual dancehall beats, “Niña Bonita” is an honest letter to that special someone.

“Baby girl, if I love you and you love me/for you I’d give my life/Take my hand, only for one night, don’t feel alone anymore,” chants the Jamaican rapper in Spanish. “I want to make memories with you,” he later sings in English.

Meanwhile, Feid’s dulcet vocals sing about admiring the special girl’s body and wanting to spend time with her.

Boza Partners with Dalex to Release New Single “Volar”

Boza is flying high…

The 25-year-old Panamanian singer and songwriter has joined voices with Dalex to release “Volar,” marking his first official single of the year.

BozaSteering away from the signature reggae plena and afrobeat melodies that characterize his music, Boza experiments with infectious electronica beats helmed by Colombian hitmaker Sky Rompiendo.

A common denominator, however, is his romantic and flirtatious lyricism:

“Kiss me and tell me what you feel/ If you want to repeat it, for me it’s enough/ Time without you is time wasted/ I feel alive when I’m with you/ Show me how to fly,” says the chorus. Boza and Dalex join forces on a track about falling hard for a girl and feeling the highest of emotions.

The music video — where Boza is having a passionate makeout sesh with a model — is also representative of that.

Bull Nene Launches Own Label “God Willing” & Signs Global Distribution Deal with Virgin Music US Latin

Bull Nene is (God) willing and able…

The 32-year-old Colombian songwriter and producer, whose real name is René David Cano, has launched his own record label, called God Willing, and signed a global distribution deal with Virgin Music US Latin.

Bull NeneBull Nene, known for his work with the likes of J Balvin, Karol G, Maluma and Juanes among others, is known for his more melodic urban sound.

His first signing is 23-year old Medellín native Mar Mejía, who sings a blend of soul and pop with urban beats. Mejía’s first single under the label is “Money,” a bilingual track about ambition and dreams, written by Bull Nene with Vibarco, Zenzei and Puerto Rican singer/songwriter Gale.

Tapping an artist from Medellín and basing his new label in his hometown was a deliberate decision, says Bull Nene.

“I felt it was the right time to do something more for the Latin music industry. We’ve always wanted to give back to the country and I always felt that music is the path of non violence. That’s why we built the label in Medellín.”

Mejía, who studied communications, has been devoted to music for the past three years. “As someone from Medellín, I’ve followed Bull Nene’s growth closely and seen how he became a world-known producer and composer. To now have him bet and believe in my project is impossible to describe,” she says.

Bull Nene is the most recent in a string of producers who have launched their own labels, including fellow Colombians Ovy on the Drums and Sky Rompiendo.

“Bull Nene’s huge talent has led him to produce some of the great Latin hits in recent years. We’re very excited about this partnership and the launch of Mar Mejía, a great promise in the world of pop,” said Victor González, president of Virgin Music Latin America and Iberian Peninsula.

Billboard’s year-end music recaps represent aggregated metrics for each artist, title, label and music contributor on the weekly charts dated Nov. 21, 2020, through Nov. 13, 2021. The rankings for MRC Data-based recaps reflect equivalent album units, airplay, sales or streaming during the weeks that the titles appeared on a respective chart during the tracking year. Any activity registered before or after a title’s chart run isn’t considered in these rankings. That methodology detail, and the November-November time period, account for some of the difference between these lists and the calendar-year recaps that are independently compiled by MRC Data.

Here’s a look at the Top 10.

  1. Tainy

Bad Bunny & Jhay Cortez’s “Dákiti” — The song debuted and peaked at No. 1 on the chart dated Nov. 14, 2020. Has spent a total of 27 weeks atop the chart, 20 in 2021, the most for any Latin track.

Tainy Becomes First Person to Spend 100 Weeks Atop Any Billboard Producers Charts

Tainy is making Billboard history…

The 32-year-old Puerto Rican record producer and songwriter has entered the history books as the first person to spend 100 weeks at No. 1 on any of Billboard‘s producers charts.

Tainy

The multi-hyphenate artist (real name: Marco Masis) spends a record-extending 100th week at No. 1 on the Latin Producers survey dated October 9, thanks to his production on seven tracks on the latest Hot Latin Songs chart.

Billboard launched all-genre Hot 100 Songwriters and Hot 100 Producers charts in June 2019, as well as those for country, rock & alternative, R&B/Hip-Hop, R&B, rap, Latin, Christian, gospel and dance/electronic; alternative and hard rock joined in June 2020.

“This milestone is something crazy to me, to see that we actually made it to 100 weeks,” Tainy tells Billboard. “At the end of the day, I am just truly grateful to get to wake up every day and do what I love. It’s amazing to be a part of such an important list with all these talented producers that are working at such high levels making incredible music and pushing our culture forward globally.”

Here’s a recap of Tainy’s entries on the latest Hot Latin Songs chart.

Rank, Artist Billing, Title (co-producers in addition to Tainy)
No. 4, Bad Bunny, “Yonaguni” (Smash David, Byrd, FinesseGTB)
No. 5, Bad Bunny & Jhay Cortez, “Dákiti” (Mora)
No. 6, J Balvin & Skrillex, “In Da Getto” (Skrillex)
No. 8, Kali Uchis, “Telepatía” (Manuel Lara, Albert Hype)
No. 14, Jhay Cortez & Anuel AA, “Ley Seca”
No. 30, J Balvin & Sech, “Una Nota” (Sky Rompiendo)
No. 44, Tainy x Yandel, “Deja Vu”

Almost exactly a year ago, Tainy became the first to log 50 weeks atop a producers chart, when he reached the milestone atop Latin Producers.

Of Tainy’s 100 weeks spent at No. 1 on Latin Producers, he’s ruled the past 41 frames consecutively, encompassing every chart week of 2021 so far.

Of the chart’s 120 total weeks to-date, Subelo Neo is the only other name to log double-digit weeks at No. 1, with 10 in March-May 2020. Over the chart’s existence, Tainy is the only producer to have spent every week on the survey. His collaborator Sky Rompiendo follows with 99 weeks, ranking at No. 7 this week.

Tainy scored his first production credit on Hot Latin Songs in 2006, with Tito “El Bambino” El Patron‘s “Caile,” which reached No. 2. He followed that year with his first No. 1, Wisin & Yandel‘s “Pam Pam.” He’s since added five more leaders, all since 2019: Anuel AA, Daddy Yankee, Karol G, Ozuna and J Balvin‘s “China“; J Balvin, Dua Lipa, Bad Bunny and Tainy’s “Un Dia (One Day)“; Bad Bunny and Jhay Cortez‘s “Dákiti“; Kali Uchis‘ “Telepatía“; and Bad Bunny’s “Yonaguni.”

Tainy has also produced three top 10s on the Billboard Hot 100: Cardi B, Bad Bunny and J Balvin’s “I Like It” (No. 1, one week, 2018), “Dákiti” (No. 5, 2020) and “Yonaguni” (No. 10, 2021).

Tainy concurrently places at No. 2 on the Latin Songwriters chart, thanks to his writing credits on “Yonaguni,” “Dákiti,” “In Da Getto,” “Telepatía,” “Ley Seca,” “Una Nota” and “Deja Vu.” He’s spent 17 weeks atop the tally, the second-most after frequent collaborator Bad Bunny (65).

Meanwhile, DannyLux adds a second week at No. 1 on Latin Songwriters, powered by his work on Eslabon Armado‘s “Jugaste y Sufri,” which he wrote solo and on which he’s a featured artist, at No. 7.

The weekly Latin Songwriters and Latin Producers charts are based on total points accrued by a songwriter and producer, respectively, for each attributed song that appears on the Hot Latin Songs chart. As with Billboard’s yearly recaps, multiple writers or producers split points for each song equally (and the dividing of points will lead to occasional ties on rankings).

Mike Bahía is seeing red

The 35-year-old Colombian singer has teamed up with Lenny Tavárez to release the new track “Colorao,” which is slang for red in Spanish.

Mike Bahía & Lenny Tavarez

It was re-written by Bahía, Cauty, Sky Rompiendo, JuanJha, Nina, Spreadlof, Eudis and Tavárez.

The lyrics of the song reflect the earnest hope of a young love who seeks to spend the rest of his days with the one he loves: “All I want is to live by your side/as an old man with red eyes/because of all the kisses you gave me; I’m, I’m in love.”

J Balvin to Launch “Neón Experience” in September, Alongside Big Name Guest Stars

Things are looking brighter for J Balvin, and he’s sharing that outlook with some big names…

Also included in his roster of events will be DJ Alex Sensation, Cornetto, DJ Pope, Agudelo888 and Matt Paris and La Gabi, the first two artists Balvin signed to his own label.

The Neón Experience will take place in Las Vegas during Mexican Independence Weekend, September 16-19, which traditionally has been a huge weekend for Latin music in Vegas, typically featuring big stars playing arena shows.

Balvin’s event, coming in the wake of the pandemic, is something else entirely. Capped at just 3,000 tickets, the three days and nights of events are being curated by Balvin and will include a headlining concert with him.

Different “experiences” will take place in various locales in the new Resorts World Las Vegas, including its entertainment venues Zouk Nightclub and Ayu Dayclub.

The centerpiece of the event is a 90-minute concert headlined by Balvin where, for the first time, he’ll sing the songs from his Colores album live.

“It’s the first event we’ve announced since the pandemic,” says manager Fabio Acosta, noting Balvin’s last concert was more than a year ago. “He will curate the entire weekend, down to the artists and themes. It’s the first time we do an event like this.”

Neón is presented by Pollen Presents, an event production company that develops and produces unique “experiences” in different locations around the world.

They include two upcoming Latin music experiences: Nicky Jam Jamworld, taking place May 13-16 in Miami, and Ozuna Cancún fest, taking place May 20-24 in Cancún.
