MoraThe 14-track set may be Mora’s most eclectic yet, both sonically and thematically.

Jowell y Randy Release New Single “Toro”

Jowell y Randy have returned with a bullseye…

The Puerto Rican reggaeton duo, composed of Joel Muñoz and Randy Ortiz, has released its new single “Toro,” released under Rimas Entertainment.

Jowell y RandyProduced by Subelo Neo and composed by Mora, the ultra-perreo stays true to the Puerto Rican duo’s essence.

“We feel the responsibility to ‘romper la calle’ very hard,” Jowell tells Billboard. “We cannot play with being experimental and bringing concepts that are not the sound people expect from us.”

The track, which has a raunchy lyricism that metaphorically relates to a bull, was a quick creative process, according to Randy.

“We didn’t have to think much about it,” he says. “Mora is very talented. This kid is a huge fan of ours and he grew up with our music. He has a different type of vocabulary and a different type of composing. Getting together with Jowell and Randy was like a huge challenge for him and a lot of fun too. There are a lot of powerful minds in this collaboration.”

For the official music video, Jowell y Randy opted for their signature party scene, mechanical bulls, and a very inclusive group of people.

The single is one of many the artists hope to release as part of their forthcoming studio album, following their 2020 Viva El Perreo, which peaked at No. 5 on the Top Latin Albums chart.

“We have a lot of songs for like three albums,” Jowell explains. “We are going to release the strongest rhythms we have for the club and for the dancing. This is very fast and people want music. We can’t keep waiting.”

The forthcoming untitled album is set to be released before 2022 comes to an end, and according to the duo, will include promising collaborations with Rauw Alejandro, De La Ghetto, Nicky Jam, Wisin y Yandel, and Maluma, to name a few.

“There’s nothing on this album that’s not reggaetón. It’s pure reggaetón,” Randy elaborates.

Jowell y Randy previously released their pandemic-inspired hit “Se Acabó la Cuarentena” featuring Kiko el Crazy in 2020.

In addition to Tainy and Barrera, Ovy on the Drums, Mora and Sky Rompiendo have made this year’s 10 Latin producers list after ruling the charts this year.

Billboard’s year-end music recaps represent aggregated metrics for each artist, title, label and music contributor on the weekly charts dated Nov. 21, 2020, through Nov. 13, 2021. The rankings for MRC Data-based recaps reflect equivalent album units, airplay, sales or streaming during the weeks that the titles appeared on a respective chart during the tracking year. Any activity registered before or after a title’s chart run isn’t considered in these rankings. That methodology detail, and the November-November time period, account for some of the difference between these lists and the calendar-year recaps that are independently compiled by MRC Data.

Here’s a look at the Top 10.

  1. Tainy

Bad Bunny & Jhay Cortez’s “Dákiti” — The song debuted and peaked at No. 1 on the chart dated Nov. 14, 2020. Has spent a total of 27 weeks atop the chart, 20 in 2021, the most for any Latin track.

  1. MAG

Bad Bunny’s “Maldita Pobreza” — The alternative track may not be one of Bunny’s highest charting titles, but it is part of his history-making album El Último Tour del Mundo. On Hot Latin Songs, “Maldita Pobreza” peaked at No. 12.

Anuel AA Releases New Single “Dictadura”

Anuel AA is back with new music…

Serving as a preview of his upcoming album, the 28-year-old Puerto Rican rapper and singer has released his new single “Dictadura.”

Anuel AA

Produced by Subelo Neo and Machael, and co-written by Anuel and Mora, the bouncy, head-bobbing reggaeton track will be included on his third LP, Las Leyendas Nunca Mueren.

The track and music video, directed by Anuel, chronicles a love and basketball story, which finds the singer-songwriter at his peak: dating the girl of his dreams (who may or may not break his heart) and getting drafted into the NBA in 1984.

“For a year, my fans have been waiting for me to release more music and I have been teasing a new album, and we are finally here,” the chart-topping artist said in a statement. “‘Dictaudura’s’ video is one of many to come that I direct and I wanted the plot to guide my fans through a concept storyboard for my upcoming album Las Leyendas Nunca Mueren. I can’t wait for them to see what is to come, but I want them to be inspired by the legends concept the way they have influenced my career and story.”

“Dictadura” follows Anuel’s latest release “23 Preguntas,” in which he asks Colombian singer and ex-girlfriend Karol G a set of questions. In the slow-tempo trap-infused reggaeton track, he bares his heart and soul in a bid to win Karol back. “23 Preguntas” dropped on what would have marked the former couple’s third anniversary.

Las Leyendas Nunca Mueren becomes Anuel’s third solo project after teaming up with Ozuna on the chart-topping Los Dioses — the collaborative effort peaked at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Top Latin Albums chart (dated February 5).

His debut album Real Hasta La Muerte, released in 2018, and his 2020 sophomore set Emmanuel also crowned the survey.
