Selena Gomez Releases Emotional New Single “My Mind & Me”

Selena Gomez is getting personal…

The 30-year-old Mexican American singer/actress has released “My Mind & Me,” one of her most vulnerable songs ever.

Gomez unveiled the emotional new song and lyric video of the same name — before teasing that more new music will soon follow.

Gomez’s first solo release since 2021’s Spanish album Revelación, “My Mind & Me” hit streaming services at 8:00 am ET one day prior to the documentary’s Friday premiere on Apple TV.

“My mind and me, we don’t get along sometimes / And it gets hard to breathe,” she sings on the track, a sprawling piano ballad written by the Only Murders in the Building star, Amy Allen, Jonathan Bellion, Michal Pollack, Stefan Johnson and Jordan K. Johnson.

“But I wouldn’t change my life / And all of the crashing and burning and breaking, I know now / If somеbody sees me like this, then thеy won’t feel alone now.”

Directed by Alek Keshishian, Gomez’s raw My Mind & Me film follows the singer-actress over the course of six years as she deals with lupus, depression, anxiety and other mental health struggles. O

ne particularly devastating time in her life was marked by an episode of psychosis in 2018, something she opened up about in a Thursday (Nov. 3) cover story interview with Rolling Stone.

The Grammy nominee told the publication that she heard voices and experienced severe long-term paranoia during the episode and was eventually diagnosed as bipolar. “It took a lot of hard work for me to (a) accept that I was bipolar, but (b) learn how to deal with it because it wasn’t going to go away,” she said.

Gomez also shared in the interview that she’s written 24 songs or so for her next album, something she also talked about at her documentary’s Wednesday (Nov. 2) premiere at the AFI Festival. Speaking to Variety, the former Disney star shared that new music is coming “hopefully next year,” potentially followed by a tour.

“Maybe!” she said about possibly hitting the road. “I know. I should, right?”

Elena Rose is ready to record more of her own music… 

Warner Music Latina has signed a record deal with the Venezuelan singer-songwriter.

Elena RoseOver the past two years, Rose has become the go-to songwriter for artists like Becky G, Selena Gomez, Rauw Alejandro, Jennifer Lopez and Maluma, among others, while also releasing her own music (“La Ducha,” “Picachu”) via her indie label, Guerrera de la Luz.

“It feels like the beginning of something that was meant to be and I feel grateful that I am in a place where I feel understood, comfortable, but also excited to grow and learn even more and get out of that comfort zone to get to where we want to go so it can be truly timeless, which is a key word for me,” Rose said about the deal. “I think I’m surrounded by an amazing team that understands my vision and is willing to come with me on this crazy ride of being timeless.”

Following a move from Venezuela to Miami to pursue a career in music, Rose cites Becky G recording one of her songs, “Dollar,” as her “big break.” The track peaked at No. 27 on Hot Latin Songs (chart dated Nov. 1, 2019). Since, Rose has been on a spree writing back-to-back hits such as Maluma and J.Lo’s “Pa Ti,” Daddy Yankee and Marc Anthony’s “De Vuelta Pa’ La Vuelta” and she co-wrote five of the seven songs on Gomez’s first Spanish project, Revelación, released last year.

Rose is currently working on new music that will be part of her debut album that, which is expected before the end of the year.

Selena Gomez is back in the studio…

This week, the 29-year-old Mexican American singer/actress shared a clip of herself inside the vocal booth on TikTok, simply captioned “New.”

Selena GomezThe catch? The TikTok comes virtually without any sound, so Selenators aren’t able to get an audible sneak peek of what Gomez is cooking up.

Whatever music she’s making, though, will be a follow-up to her 2021 Spanish-language EP Revelación, which peaked at No. 22 on the Billboard 200 and earned Gomez her first-ever Grammy nomination, for best Latin Pop Album, at the 64th annual Grammy Awards in April.

Gomez’s most recent full-length studio effort, meanwhile, was 2020’s Rare, which contained No. 1 hit “Lose You to Love Me,” as well as follow-up singles “Look At Her Now,” “Rare” and “Boyfriend.”

Gomez’s behind-the-scenes TikTok isn’t the first time she’s teased new music in the last few weeks, either.

During a celebration event for her cosmetics brand Rare Beauty, she hinted at the prospect during a rapid-fire Q&A session with TikTok makeup artist Mikayla Nogueira.

Of course, the onetime Disney Channel starlet has had plenty of other commitments on her plate in between albums: Season 2 of her hit series Only Murders in the Building just premiered on Hulu and she also took time off to attend the star-studded wedding of Britney Spears and Sam Asghari, where she even jumped on the mic with Paris Hilton to perform an impromptu rendition of “Stars Are Blind” for the bride.

Silk Sonic’s Bruno Mars Earns Four Grammy Nominations

Bruno Mars is still a Grammy Darling…

The 36-year-old part-Puerto Rican singer/songwriter, an 11-time Grammy winner, has picked up four Grammy nominations, the most of any Latino artist.

Mars is nominated alongside rapper/singer Anderson .Paak for their work as Silk Sonic on the group’s chart-topping single “Leave the Door Open.”

Mars’ Silk Sonic single is nominated for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best R&B Performance and Best R&B Song.

Mars and .Paak’s four nods come on the strength of that single single, since both of the artists had their new albums come out after this year’s eligibility cut-off, meaning they’ll probably be back with an equally high profile next year.

Adrian Quesada has picked up two Grammy nods.

The Mexican American artist and Grammy-nominated producer and guitarist and his Black Pumas band mate Eric Burton are up for Best Rock Album for Capitol Cuts – Live From Studio A, as well as Best Rock Performance for “Know You Better (Live From Capitol Studio A).”

Quesada has four previous nominations, including two last year for Record of the Year and Album of the Year.

Arturo O’Farrill, a five-time Grammy winner, has picked up two nominations.

The 61-year-old Mexican jazz musician is up for Best Latin Jazz Album alongside his Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra for their album Virtual Birdland. He’s also nominated in the Best Instrumental Composition for “Dreaming In Lions: Dreaming In Lions.”

Vince Mendoza has two more chances for Grammy glory…

The Mexican American composer, music arranger and conductor, a six-time Grammy winner, is up for Best Instrumental Composition alongside the Czech National Symphony Orchestra featuring Antonio Sánchez and Derrick Hodge for their “Concerto For Orchestra: Finale.” He’s also up for Best Arrangement, Instruments and Vocals for arranging To The Edge Of Longing (Edit Version).

Other first-time Grammy nominees include Puerto Rican reggaeton singer Rauw Alejandro, Colombian singer Paula Arenas, Colombian singer Karol G, Argentine singer Nathy Peluso and Spanish rapper C Tangana.

Cardi B is “Up” for one Grammy this year…

The 29-year-old half-Dominican American rap superstar, who won a Grammy for Best Rap Album for her debut album Invasion of Privacy, is nominated for Best Rap Performance for her chart-topping single “Up.”

Bad Bunny could repeat as a Grammy winner…

The Puerto Rican superstar is nominated in the Best Musica Urbana Album category for his acclaimed album El Último Tour Del Mundo. He won his first-ever Grammy last year for YHLQMDLG.

Esperanza Spalding, who upset Justin Bieber for Best New Artist, is nominated in the Best Jazz Vocal Album for Songwrights Apothecary Lab.

Previous Latinx Grammy winners and nominees earning a nod this year include Pablo Alboran, Ricardo Arjona, Alex Cuba, J Balvin, Kali Uchis, Bomba Estereo, Juanes, Aida Cuevas, Vicente Fernandez, Mon Laferte, Natalia Lafourcade, Christian Nodal, Ruben Blades, Gilberto Santa Rosa and Gustavo Dudamel.

The Grammy Awards are voted on by the Recording Academy’s voting membership body of around 12,000 music makers, who represent all genres and creative disciplines, including recording artists, songwriters, producers, mixers, and engineers.

Selena Gomez Teams Up with Camilo for New Spanish Single “999”

Selena Gomez is back with new Spanish music…

The 29-year-old Mexican American singer/actress has joined voices with Colombian singer-songwriter Camilo for the new Spanish single “999.”

The new single comes after Gomez released her first Spanish-language EP Revelación in March — with which she became the first woman to debut at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart since 2017.

Produced by Edgar Barrera and penned by Camilo, “999” — a rhythmic pop song that is a ballad at its core — marks the first collaboration between the former Disney Channel star and Camilo.

The track, which was released alongside a music video directed by Sophie Muller, finds the two artists, with Gomez donning colorful hair, trading verses about true love over a sparse drumbeat.

“I don’t want to go slow. I know you think of me … If you want to go at 1,000, I’m at 999,” they sing.

“Camilo is a fantastic songwriter and singer who proudly wears his heart on his sleeve which is something we connected on immediately,” Gomez said about Camilo. “I couldn’t have been more excited to collaborate with him.”

“Working with Selena Gomez is a huge honor. From the beginning, ‘999’ was written with the sound of her voice in mind and would not exist if it were not created dreaming of this collaboration,” Camilo added. “I’m so excited about the opportunity it represents for me and my career, a song as precious as this, with an artist whom I respect and have followed for so long. I couldn’t believe it because just two or three years ago they asked me in an interview with whom I dreamed of making a song and my answer was, ‘with Selena Gomez’ and now it’s a reality.”

“999” follows Gomez’s seven-track Revelación released March 12 via Interscope/IGA that marked the biggest week for a Latin album by a woman since 2017. The EP featured collaborations with rising Latin acts Myke Towers and Rauw Alejandro.

“I was the most nervous I have been in a long time because my heritage means so much to me and I have been talking about doing this for over 10 years,” Gomez previously told Billboard about Revelación. “I wanted it to be perfect. I am thrilled to see the response from my fans and also from people who might not have listened to my other music.”

Most recently, Camilo collaborated with Shawn Mendes on a remix for his ultra tropical love anthem “Kesi.” He’s currently on tour in Spain.

Selena Gomez’s HBO Max Cooking Series “Selena + Chef” Returning for Third Season

Selena Gomez isn’t ready to leave the kitchen just yet…

The 28-year-old Mexican American singer/actress will be serving up a third season of Selena + Chef on HBO Max.

New episodes of the unscripted cooking series will premiere later this year.

In Season 3, Gomez will continue her cooking adventures at home with a new roster of all-star chefs that will help her whip up delicious dishes. Like in its first two seasons, each chef will highlight a different charity each episode. To date, the series has raised $360,000 for 23 nonprofit organizations.

The series is executive produced by Gomez for July Moon Productions.

Gomez executive produced the Sony romantic feature The Broken Hearts Gallery, which was one of the first movies to get exhibition reopened as the pandemic eased last summer.

She also stars as Mavis and executive produces Sony Animation’s upcoming summer release Hotel Transylvania: Transformania. 

And she stars and serves as EP on Hulu’s Steve Martin and Martin Short series Only Murders in the Building, and she’s attached to star in the Elgin James feature drama In the Shadow of Mountain. 

Gomez released three albums with her former band Selena Gomez & the Scene: Kiss & Tell (2009), A Year Without Rain (2010) and When the Sun Goes Down (2011), all of which peaked within the top 10 on the Billboard 200 and attained gold certifications.

Her 2015 album Revival went platinum twice. Gomez released her third solo album Rare last year via Interscope Records, debuting atop the Billboard 200, making it her third consecutive No. 1 album in the U.S.

And, she released her first Spanish-language album earlier this year. Revelación debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart.

Gomez’s feature credits include Monte Carlo, The Muppets, Spring Breakers, The Hotel Transylvania franchise, Getaway, The Fundamentals of Caring, Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, and Jim Jarmusch’s The Dead Don’t Die.

The 28-year-old Mexican American singer/actress has shared photos on Instagram of the former Disney Channel star wearing a sequined fringe cowgirl jacket, black lace bralette, jeans and black lace-up heeled boots and sporting her own Rare Beauty makeup line.

Rare Beauty’s official account praised their founder for being “100% that girl,” while DJ Snake crowned the social media queen with an emoji.

Their bilingual collab “Selfish Love” debuted within the top 10 region of Billboard‘s Hot Latin Songs chart and hit No. 1 on the Latin Digital Song Sales (on the chart dated March 20). The song comes off Gomez’s chart-topping Spanish-language EP Revelación, which she released March 12.

Gomez recently contemplated possibly retiring from her music career in her cover story for the April issue of Vogue. “It’s hard to keep doing music when people don’t necessarily take you seriously. I’ve had moments where I’ve been like, ‘What’s the point? Why do I keep doing this?'” she confessed. “‘Lose You to Love Me’ I felt was the best song I’ve ever released, and for some people it still wasn’t enough.”

The 28-year-old Mexican American singer/actress has debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart with her first Spanish-language album Revelación on the March 27-dated survey.

Her album arrives with 23,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending March 18, according to MRC Data — marking the biggest week for a Latin album by a woman since 2017.

“I never go into anything expecting a No. 1 so I do not take it for granted,” Gomez tells Billboard. “It’s always a bit nerve racking before releasing any music because as artists we put so much of ourselves out there. For this EP specifically, I was the most nervous I have been in a long time because my heritage means so much to me and I have been talking about doing this for over 10 years. I wanted it to be perfect. I am thrilled to see the response from my fans and also from people who might not have listened to my other music.”

The Top Latin Albums chart ranks the most popular Latin albums of the week in the U.S. based on multimetric consumption as measured in equivalent album units. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album.

The seven-track Revelación was released March 12 via Interscope/IGA. Of its starting sum of 23,000 equivalent album units, album sales comprise 14,000 and the bulk of the remainder are SEA units (equaling 12.21 million on-demand streams of the set’s songs). Gomez’s debut Latin project boasts the biggest week for a Latin album by a woman in nearly four years, since Shakira’s El Dorado started with 29,000 units in its first week (chart dated June 17, 2017).

“Without a doubt the most challenging aspect was having to do all of the sessions over Zoom,” Gomez adds. “We started recording the EP right before COVID-19 shut everything down. In the beginning there were times I ended up canceling sessions because I found it so uninspiring not to be in the same room with everyone. I eventually was able to get past it and am extremely happy with how the music came together. [Producer] Tainy was very patient with me while I worked through my frustrations.”

Revelación is the first album by a female act at No. 1 on Top Latin Albums since Shakira’s El Dorado spent its fifth and final nonconsecutive week atop the list dated Aug. 5, 2017.

Gomez also notches the highest debut by a female solo act since Jenni Rivera’s Paloma Negra Desde Monterrey likewise debuted atop the list in November 2016. In between Rivera and Gomez, a collaborative set by two women launched at No. 1: Gloria Trevi and Alejandra Guzman’s Versus in July 2017.

As Gomez’s “Baila Conmigo,” with Rauw Alejandro, concurrently takes over the top spot on the new Latin Airplay chart, she becomes the first female act in over a decade to rule both charts simultaneously. The last woman to achieve the feat was Shakira when Sale el Sol and “Loca,” featuring El Cata, ruled both Top Latin Albums and Latin Airplay, respectively in November 2010.

Elsewhere, Gomez places a total of four tracks on Hot Latin Songs, all from Revelación — one of which debuts in the top 20: “Baila Conmigo” with Rauw Alejandro lifts 8-5, “Selfish Love,” with DJ Snake, is at No. 18, “Dámelo To’,” featuring Myke Towers, starts at No. 20, and “De Una Vez,” re-enters at No. 50.

“Releasing ‘De Una Vez’ as the first song was the perfect way to introduce the new music,” Gomez says. “It’s a song I really related to and I think it’s beautiful with a message of hope and healing. I think all of the collaborators bring different elements to the table. With Snake it was great because we have a history together so on a mere comfort level that was nice to have. On ‘Dámelo Tó’ Myke brings this smooth rap and it makes you crave for it to be summer because it has the kind of vibe. When we were recording ‘Baila Conmigo’ I  knew we needed a male voice on it and Rauw has the ideal sexy, soulful voice that really complements the song perfectly.”

Revelación concurrently bows at No. 1 on Latin Pop Albums and at No. 22 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart.

It’s a revelation like no other for Selena Gomez…

A decade after tweeting that Spanish music was on the way, the 28-year-old Mexican American singer/actress has officially released her first-ever Spanish project.

Entitled Revelación, the seven-track set, produced by hitmaker Tainy, kicks off with the dreamy pop track “De Una Vez” that puts Gomez’s soothing vocals and empowering lyrics at the forefront.

“She wanted us to give life to Selena Gomez in Spanish,” singer-songwriter Elena Rose, who co-wrote most of the songs on the EP, tells Billboard. “For it to be a direct translation of who she is when she’s singing in English. She’s all about empowerment, compassion, being a warrior, and being vulnerable. So the lyrics were very important here.”

Revelación picks up speed with more rhythmic, soft reggaeton tracks like “Buscando Amor,” the Rauw Alejandro-assisted “Baila Conmigo,” and “Dámelo To’” with Myke Towers.

She then goes solo again with “Vicio” and “Adiós.”

The EP, an exploration of her Latin roots, follows Gomez’s 2020 album Rare.

The 28-year-old Mexican American singer/actress and DJ Snake have released the official music video for their new single “Selfish Love,” coming a day after the pair released the single.”

The trippy music video, directed by award-winning filmmaker Rodrigo Saavedra, features SelGo working at a house of mirrors disguised as a beauty salon that will make men think twice before stepping in to get a haircut.

“Selfish Love” will appear on Gomez’s upcoming first-ever Spanish EP Revelación, due March 12.

Earlier this week, Gomez revealed the full track list of the seven-song set, including “Baila Conmigo” with Rauw Alejandro, “De Una Vez,” “Dámelo To’” with Myke Towers, “Buscando Amor,” “Vicio” and “Adios.”

The low-key dance track follows Gomez’s 2018 collaboration with DJ Snake on “Taki Taki,” also featuring Cardi B and Ozuna, and tells the story of a girl who admits she has some jealous feelings.
